I did multiple medical trips with them but today they abandoned my DISABLED MOTHER never notified us and due to this poor action she lost her medical and vital appointment. My father was a driver for this company and used to be good, not anymore, i do not understand why they accept to work for medical answering service if they refuse to take calls in advance from patients who need to be taken to a doctor's appointment? Also the last time we went with them there was a driver who did not have tlc and due to the fact that they were 35 minutes late we didn't checked on her license plate until we got to our destination. Again castle is despicable and their actions are unacceptable. if owners and dispatchers are so unhappy, as many drivers stated, by accepting patients from medical answering service, why then they accept to work with them if they make a patient loose a vital appointment or be late. Transportation is always arranged 48 hours or more in advance, so why they never contacted us to tell us that her trip was cancelled? DISABLED PERSONS/DISABLED CUSTOMERS has the same right as any other paying customers and dispatchers can not tell a disable patient to shut their mouths and keep quiet since they do not pay and wait for hours until they decide to send a car or cancel a trip because she is disabled, this is discrimination against an american citizen with a disability. i will be filing charges with tlc and also with the department of transportation, i do not appreciated that you harm my mother. read more

In era of Uber castle Car Service is still alive and accommodating to the people. I use them on occasions for the most part I like the service. They come on time as I use the App roughly 10mines and the drivers are fine. The price is also right. My criticism of this car service is that I have a dog who is in a carrier and small he does not bother anybody. On a couple occasions I had drivers try to be slick and charge me more for my ride. I informed the base that I have a dog who is in a carrier it is never a problem. These drivers should be penalized by the base. btw I called the base because it's not professional. Therefore in the future I hope this matter is addressed with the drivers. With all stated I will still continue to use this car service periodically. read more

I have used their service for several years to get to the airport from Brooklyn. The prices listed on their are not bad, but they don't always stick to their rates, which is super sketchy. They also often blame their app (or another employee) when things don't match up... but they've done this for years. If the app doesn't "have the current rates" or "doesn't always track cars properly," it's time to fix your app! I am getting very exhausted from the lack of responsibility everyone there takes, and the acting dumbfounded and pointing fingers, when something goes wrong. For example, last night I had a car scheduled to pick me up from the airport at 11:20 PM. My flight info was recorded and shouldn't be a problem. The driver apparently showed up a bit early, and my flight was 10 mins late. Not only did he call and wake up my wife (her number has been used for rides I'm the past so it's in their system) to ask where I was, which she didn't know, he was rude to her and cancelled my ride! So when I actually landed at 11:30, I did not have a ride home. I called the base and the man on the phone said the driver cancelled because I never showed up. I was in an airplane, and they had the info to track, and I was only ten minutes later! Then he sent another car... but when I heard that a driver called my wife and was rude, I cancelled. Completely unprofessional and unnecessary!! PS... never got an apology. Will I use them again? Not sure. Will I recommend them? Not unless you're in a bind. read more

After using another car service regularly for many years, I recently took a friend's suggestion and tried Castle Car Service for the first time. I was favorably impressed from beginning to end! My driver, Juan, was prompt and considerate in every way. He played some mellow music, he wore a mask. He engaged in conversation only when I initiated it. We reached my destination in good time and the price was much lower than the other car service. Later in the day, I realized I had lost my phone! You know what anxiety that provokes, right? I called Castle and the dispatcher was fabulous. He contacted Juan and I learned right away that Juan had found it. Whew! Juan brought the phone to me a little later. I requested a car and was told $10. The guy called when he arrived and once we started driving he asked how much I was told. He started complaining showing me the trip would be 17 minutes and that it should be $20; eventually he said ok $13. He kept complaining throughout the ride. It was NOT a smooth ride; he slammed the brakes and made hard turns around other cars. He said we were one block away and asked if I could walk; I said no I have a fractured foot and I'm on my way to get X-rays right now. I gave him $20 and asked for $5 back, which was GENEROUS, and said to keep the change; he complained about that saying "wait no change." Gfl. Do not use this place. read more

I've been using these guys for years (and am pretty surprised that there aren't any reviews for them). They show up when and where you ask on time (and if the airport is involved, almost always are at your door five minutes earlier than you asked for), are courteous and are very strict with their drivers about the rates they charge -- with Castle, you won't be quoted one price on the phone and then be asked to pay a higher one once you're at your destination. Will the cars that show up at your door vary wildly from one day to the next? Yes. (Expect a towncar one day and a semi-unmarked sedan the next.) But seriously, do you think Brooklyn's Castle Car Service has the budget to do a Dial 7-esque commercial for their services?* You must be high. * Ubiquitous Grand Prospect Hall commercials aside. read more

I may give Castle a second chance if I have no other options. Several weeks ago I needed a car to get from Park Slope to Red Hook for a wedding. Since I had a lot going with me, I opted to stop at Castle and find out what their rates are rather than hop on public transportation. The dispatcher at Castle told me $8 to Red Hook. Done, I said! Then I asked about cards, as I had no cash, but the bodega on the corner has an ATM, so I could swing in there really quickly. The dispatcher told me they do take cards in the cars, but there's a $10 minimum. "If I add a $2 tip to the $8 fee, is that fine for you?" "No problem..." I was told. Well, the driver dropped me off, and when I handed him my card said, "Sorry, no cards." I then informed him that I was told at the office that I could charge $8 on the card, with a $2 tip, and I would be fine. "I don't take cards. You have to pay cash." Okay... I'm standing at an event space on the water in Red Hook, there are no ATMs anywhere near by. I reiterated that the dispatcher said they take cards, at which point he finally picked up his phone to call back to the dispatcher. After a few minutes, I was told that the dispatcher wasn't answering, that I would just have to pay the $10 in cash. By now I was getting a little edgy, and told the guy (basically) if I had $10 in cash, I would've given it to you buy now. Finally he got someone on the phone, took my card and told the person on the other end my credit card information (not comfortable with that at all) and handed me back my card. I had to ask what the charge was and he told me $15, there's a $5 card fee. I was over a barrel at that point, so I said Fine and went about my day. Three days later the charge posted at $17, not $15. That's nearly double what the ride should have been. Will I give Castle another chance? I can't say never, but it will take an impressive set of circumstances before I try them again. As information, on the way back I used Uber and my total came to $13. Sure, it's only $4 less than Castle, but the driver was extremely nice and the service was amazingly simple to use. read more

Still a good choice. They come when they say they will, within a few minutes if you ask for a car immediately. You have to call dispatch to use a credit card which is a bit old fashioned. La Guardia from park slope is $32 which seems fair. They know their way around and can avoid traffic, and they know what the roads are like despite not using a GPS that I could see. The drivers are friendly enough, but leave you to do your own thing. On my most recent trip mine asked when my flight was to make sure we were good. They know the terminals by heart. read more

Price gouging and unsafe. The price of a ride that normally cost $15-$18 with other car services was "jacked-up" to $25.00. This is an outrage! Also, the drivers participate in unsafe practices such as putting on safety locks when not necessary. When questioned they will say your peace pf mind is not important because they have to rest the features on their cars. read more

I have been using this car service for ten years, so I am used to hearing the dispatcher tell me "5 minutes" several times before the car arrives. Today, 5 minutes turned into over an hour, and in the end the car never even showed. I was standing outside on the sidewalk with boxes and small children for over an hour- no explanation, no apology, and no car. This service has lost my business for good. Update: Castle offered us a $30 credit as an apology. I called them the next morning to use the credit. "5 minutes." 20 minutes later I called Eastern. 3 minutes later Eastern was outside. Castle can keep the credit. I will never use this car service again. read more

They do a great job - I use them often. Operators are careful to repeat guidance so that they get addresses correct. Cars usually arrive quite quickly, and almost always more quickly than competing services. My only complaint, some drivers are not as careful as they should be and some do not carry receipts. read more

We have used Castle a lot since they opened/moved to 9th street and 4th avenue. We usually take them home from a Costco trip, when running late, or taking a trip to the vet. My experiences with Castle can best be summed up in a list: Good: - their drivers are friendly. They are usually helpful if we have bags. - their cars are new and clean. - most drivers are okay with transporting (small) dogs. Bad - Prices seem to vary arbitrarily - we usually take a cab from Costco home and have been charged anywhere from $7 to $16. Most trips are the same amount of time, so I think the drivers that give a higher price are just trying to get a bigger cut for themselves. It's possible that prices vary due to gas price fluctuation, but not by more than double the price. - Recently, we called for a cab and asked if we could pay by credit card. They accept credit cards, but dd not tell us that they charge a surcharge until we called to pay. the surcharge for credit card use was $2, but might be more for Amex. - sometimes the cars don't have Castle signs so it might be tough to pick them out. - they usually tell you they will be there in five minutes, but that can mean anywhere between five and ten minutes. There is one female driver who has picked us up several times who is particularly nice, friendly, and helpful. read more

Always fast and never pricey. I live pretty close so whenever I call, they usually arrive in 5-10 minutes. The drivers never have to ask me for directions either which is a plus. The only problem is sometimes I have to call multiple times before they pick up the phone, but since they're the best car service company in my area, I can't complain. I always call for a quote first so I know I'm not getting jipped and they never charge more than that. Do keep in mind that if you pay with card, they charge an extra $2 fee. read more

I am usually very pleased with this company but I called today for a cab like I usually do and they sent us a minivan which is not a problem, we decided to take advantage of it and put my son's baby stuff (I am pregnant) in the back. The cab driver was very rude and told us we have to pay more for using his space in the back of his car (cab ride was already $25). The same amount of stuff we would of put in a regular car. He said we either pay more or wait for another car to come. So not only did we not request this car but we were treated unfairly because of us having stuff with us. He called his manager and complained and they said if we dont pay more we can get out. When I called the homebase to speak to a manager they hung up on me. Very unprofessional. Treated me very unfairly. I will not use their car service anymore. Will recommend using the cab service up the block from castle called Contential from now on. The amount of money I spent on this cab base and they cant show no consideration or concern or even customer service. Be careful if they send you a van they are trying to rip you off read more

Once you're in the car these folks are pretty nice. Quite a few of their drivers are awful outside the customer-base, though. I've seen them blare their horns at pedestrians with the right of way, block traffic with double parking, and purposefully jump the car forward to scare a pedestrian in a crosswalk. They are always late. The usual ritual is that I would give the, a call when they are 5 minutes late I and I am told that the car is around the corner and will be there in 2 minutes. Ten minutes later, I would call again to hear the same answer. Their average delay is15 minutes, but I once waited 40 minutes. Try others instead. read more

A friend walked in to Castle to take a car to 1st Ave and 38th St, Manhattan on 12/4/14. On the FDR, the driver was hit from behind, she was tossed around the car and in shock. She exited the car, the driver assisted me in hailing a taxi on the busy FDR, (in a rush for me to leave). After settling down, my friend realized she didn't have any information from the driver of either car. She and I called Castle Car Service office, they are refusing to give me any information, they told me call the police and hung up! read more

I don't know why I use this car service as much as I have. I guess cause it's close by. They always keep you waiting and if you aren't outside when they get there the driver goes away. I had a horrible experience with them the other day where I ordered a car and after a couple minutes went outside. I called them to tell them and the guy asked me how? What do you mean how, he isn't there why would I know the reason behind this. Then told me I called 20 minutes ago and the car isn't going to wait forever. I went outside after 10 mins when the guy said he'd be there in 7. I've been using Castle regularly because I have been on crutches for a while. The majority of the time, they are late and I'm left waiting on the corner for them. Driver/car #10 is really nice - BUT - I had a really bad experience with a vocally racist driver , who also was complaining about me to his boss WHILE I was in the back seat. I love the drivers at Castle. They care about their customers. The drivers are so helpful especially when asked to make multiple stops. The prices are reasonable. Drivers arrive on time and do their best to get you where you need to go. I always give them a better than decent tip because they are such great people. However, today I experienced something I thought I would never deal with calling Castle. I live on Union and I always call the cab company and they provide me a driver. But today the call went all wrong. They promised me a driver and the operator gave him the wrong address to pick me up. I call the driver and he said he would correct the address and was coming to pick me up but he never came. After 20 minutes I call to see where he was and he told me the operator had cancelled my car service. I didn't know. He did not call me. What made things worse, the cab driver didn't even reach out to me to let me know. I was late for work. WHAT A SHOCKER! Though I may be angry with the operator and this particular cab driver, it does not change my mind about the other wonderful drivers who give outstanding service. The operator needs to be trained to do better customer service. It was wrong for him to not let me know he cancelled my service. I didn't cancel. I still needed a cab. I called for a ride in the pouring rain. They told me it would be 5-7 mins. 15 mins later I called again and they said it would be another 3 mins. 10 minutes later the cab pulls up. The driver did not get out to help me with my bags, merely opened the trunk and watched me struggle. We got to my door and once again,the driver did not get out of the car - I stupidly tipped him but would never use this service again. It wasn't even particularly cheap $12 when hopstop said it would be $8.95 in a regular cab. read more
