And the bullying is not handled well. NOTHING is done to punish bullies besides a talking and maybe a day suspension for making someone feel unwanted. The targets of these bullies are usually the "weird" kids, which have no reason to be bullied. Of course no one has any reason to be a victim, but I have knowledge, as being one of the "weird" kids, that these people are some of the nicest there are. They are usually just sitting or walking to class when a popular girl/boy walks up and comments on their appearance or backpack. There's also an absurd amount of discrimination for a "non-discrimination" school. While the teachers seem to mind their business, the students who discriminate other students for being different aren't handled.

Teachers are rude. Some of the teachers don't teach what you need to learn and the test they give…read moreyou are completely different from what they taught. They also do not know how to keep track of jerseys coming in when returning them after your sport season is over. They lose everything, when they can't find it because they lost it, they blame it on the player when the player knows they turned it in.

They have given great thought to making sure that the parents are involved in every single assignment and preparing for tests. If your child drops a grade level you are notified via the school application, email and phone call. Parents, gone are the days of asking your children do you have homework? What assignments are due? Because you can now look that up. We have a white boards in the hallway with the assignments and when they're due and how much grade is weighted on each one. There are no more surprises of I didn't know this was due. All of the teachers are insightful and dedicated. Some are a bit dry, some are a little stiff but overall if they weren't good at their job they wouldn't be there. I get the feeling that the Higley School district does not embrace a teacher's tenure over their quality. All of the teachers offer tutoring you just have to work around their schedule. The school has many clubs and sports for young people to get involved in. The homecoming football game that I attended the kids were well-behaved respectful and had a wonderful time. Everything about this school makes me want to cry. I went here for 7-9 grade and middle school was…read morefine, I really liked eighth grade. But then freshman year was awful. The teachers couldn't care less about you and what may be going on in your life. All that school cares about is grades and how well you're doing work. The classes are an hour and half long and you are CONSTANTLY doing stuff the entire hour and a half. I wouldn't get home till 4:15 and was still doing homework for an hour after that. If you're not insanely intelligent might as well just give up because that's all you're good for at this school. Making my whole life about school made me lowkey insanely depressed and I hated my life because of that school.

We have two children who attend this school, we have a 6th grader who has attended this school…read moresince kindergarten and now his sister who is a kindergartner is attending. It is very family oriented and you'll see families come together supporting the kids and teachers at any given event. Our kindergartner is autistic and she has fit in well and is flourishing there. The school provides a lot of resources and activities for the students. They have band, orchestra, student council, mathletes, a gifted and talented program, cool clubs for the kids like kickball club and card trading club and much more. Our kindergartener registered for soccer this past fall and basketball camp during Spring Break and has just had a blast. I love how I never feel awkward at events because there aren't any "clicks" amongst the parents and kids there. There is not a religious belief pushed on to the kids here either. The principal is always out walking around and engaging with students and parents every day and has made time to discuss anything necessary when we have needed help. If you are looking for a school that will encourage your children to be the best version of themselves and to learn to make good choices...this is it. We ultimately as parents just want our kids to be kind, caring human beings in this world and this is the school that will promote that.

My little cousins are getting called racial slurs and even to the point of being physically abused. We went to the front administration and they pretty much said don't worry we will take care of it and that was it. Fast forward a few months now my cousin is coming home with headaches because kids at Perry decided it was a good idea to throw rocks and other objects at my cousin. This crossed the line. Perry high only did anything to this bully ( Henry Whitt ) because we got police involved now. Shame on you Perry high. This is suppose to be a safe environment where our kids can come and learn but no. This place has turned to a nightmare for many kids that dread going to school because of all the bully's. Theres also a lack of disciplinary action. And when there is its not helpful. There was a massive bullying issue while i was there. I was someone who was bullied. I had a bag of food thrown at me. I had a specific group of girls repeatedly make distasteful and down right mean comments about me. One in particular would take pictures of me in Mrs. Tellez's class and Mrs Tellez did nothing about it, but I'll talk about her more later. The main girl who bullied me would harrass me just about everytime i saw her. In the bathroom, where they would all hang out usually vaping, and would make me feel unsafe just about everywhere she was. She was physical with me once, I was going to lunch and she physically pushed her friend into me and I was slammed into the wall. Now for Mrs. Tellez. I was in her 8th period class, and she had a group of rowdy students but she never did anything about it. She claims to be a strict teacher, and she is if she doesnt like you and your not popular. She did nothing about disruptions if they were by kids she was buddy buddy with. She also either didn't notice or didn't do anything about my bully taking pictures of me in the last minutes of class. Another teacher, Mrs Hibbs would literally talk trash about me, TO STUDENTS, I only know this because another student told me that she was talking trash about me. Mrs. Tellez also talked trash about students to other students. Now for the food. I know school food is never going to be perfect, but they were literally serving burgers with GREEN MEAT, AND SOGGY GROSS BUNS. also they will serve moldy food, and their nacho cheese has the consistency of JELLO. Now for safety, while we did have the little slideshows I think we only had one lockdown during the entire time I was there, the whole 2 years. One lockdown.
