I…read morecan't speak for all the programs, but I am very disappointed with the Cosmetology and Aesthetics vocational programs that are currently supported by with the state. It just feels like they have added teachers and classes due to demand, but the training is sub par and they don't even have enough classrooms to accommodate all the enrolled students. I wholeheartedly support vocational schools and charters, but in my opinion these programs are currently not providing the instruction or hands-on skills students will need to be successful in the areas my child/children were enrolled. I would look elsewhere and avoid them waiting 2 years only to have to enter a school that requires tuition in the end anyways. I also think it's luck of the draw with teachers. Some are better than others... Our 2025 experience was very poor and when your students are spending more time watching HULU, Netflix, and movies than receiving instruction I believe it's a waste of time. I also hear that the State of Arizona pays EVIT ~$8k per student and they get paid for the full year as long as the student is still enrolled on 9/30. They may be more apt to listen to your concerns and make it appear they are working to address concerns up until that date, but after that they really don't care because their received their funding for the year. My recommendation is do your own homework and talk to your students. There appear to be some good options out there and new schools popping up out there to address the need that don't come with a huge price tag that may be better for preparing learners to actually entering the workforce.

The teachers couldn't care less about you and what may be going on in your life. All that school cares about is grades and how well you're doing work. The classes are an hour and half long and you are CONSTANTLY doing stuff the entire hour and a half. I wouldn't get home till 4:15 and was still doing homework for an hour after that. If you're not insanely intelligent might as well just give up because that's all you're good for at this school. Our children have attended ALA for years, but our experience with the bus system has been incredibly frustrating. On multiple occasions, our children's bus route has been canceled with very little notice, leaving us scrambling to find transportation. If you don't live near an existing bus route, it's extremely difficult to have a stop added. In our case, we had recently moved. The school's proposed solution was for our 13-year-old daughter to walk approximately 1.5 miles home from the bus stop in Arizona heat, including areas without continuous sidewalks and with limited safe crossing options. That simply isn't acceptable to our family. Yesterday was especially upsetting. Instead of dropping her off at her designated bus stop, the driver dropped her off at a different location. She didn't know where she was, her phone had died, and she had to find her way home on her own. She finally arrived home around 5:00 p.m., crying, with a bright red face and drenched in sweat. No parent should have to worry about their child being left at an unexpected location without any way to call for help. Academically, there are things we have appreciated about ALA. However, transportation and student safety have been major disappointments for our family. If your child will be riding the bus, I strongly encourage you to ask detailed questions about bus routes, stop locations, how route changes are communicated, and what procedures are followed if a driver cannot make a scheduled stop. The answers to those questions could make a significant difference in your decision.

My little cousins are getting called racial slurs and even to the point of being physically abused. We went to the front administration and they pretty much said don't worry we will take care of it and that was it. Fast forward a few months now my cousin is coming home with headaches because kids at Perry decided it was a good idea to throw rocks and other objects at my cousin. This crossed the line. Perry high only did anything to this bully ( Henry Whitt ) because we got police involved now. Shame on you Perry high. This is suppose to be a safe environment where our kids can come and learn but no. This place has turned to a nightmare for many kids that dread going to school because of all the bully's.
