The teachers have been their for years and each of my kids connect to each one of them. While most daycares say they are do preschool activities, Self Development's main focus is learning. My son loves talking about the centers and what he learned at different tables. The staff is wonderful. Even though my older too children have started school they still love going to the preschool for before and aftercare. The before an after care program really helps my family's schedule.

The faculty and staff members have all been great to work with and extremely open with communication when needed. We ran into a rough patch with our son at the end of 1st and beginning of 2nd grade with staying on task and completing work which was frustrating, but in working with Mrs. Salvatori (Principal) and Ms. Vernetta (Preschool Director/HR) we were able to work together to place him in a class with a teacher he absolutely adores (Mrs. Schaller, who he thankfully has again for 3rd) and he once again loves learning. Our daughter started kindergarten this year with Mrs. Haschke which has also been phenomenal! One other thing I need to add, especially after reading through some of the other reviews is that it's not just us (my husband and I) that love the Self Development family - our kids do as well. When the pandemic was at it's peak in sprint/summer of 2020, we kept the kids home for 6 weeks and every single morning they would get up and beg to go back and play with their friends because they missed them and the staff. It's not uncommon for our daughter to run to give the staff hugs or share her accomplishments in learning with them - and they help celebrate it! Seeing the smiles on our kids faces when we pick up/drop off each day reinforces our choice to trust Self Development Preschool/Academy with our little learners.

My 3 year old had scratches and patches ripped out of her hair. There was never any incident reports and I would always have to ask the teachers what happened. Their replies would be "I think....". You think? They also don't clean the children well because my daughter is always complaining that she's "itchy" when I pick her up. That staff is not helpful and always on their phones.

My five-year-old yells out Spanish songs at bedtime, exclaims "¡Mira esto!" while attempting parkour off the couch, and gives me a side-eye every time I mispronounce "gracias." I'm not sure if I signed him up for preschool or a top-secret Spanish immersion boot camp, but either way, I'm blown away. Director Marcela is a gem--so warm, thoughtful, kind, and clearly leads with heart and purpose. And the teachers? They are saints - crakers-covered, angelic humans. They sing, dance, teach, comfort, and somehow manage chaos with a smile. Their warmth, patience, and dedication to the Spanish immersion experience are incredible. My son is on his third year with Kindercare, (his first year with this center), and he is thriving here. During his first week here, & newly 4 years old, he came home writing his full name on his own. His confidence and self esteem have improved over the last few months and he has already built strong connections among his peers. I called corporate and reported all of this to them and they said they would handle the situation but I don't believe they ever did. Even on 1to1 Zoom sessions due to COVID, the lessons were very effective and my daughter LOVED coach Emma. My daughter was more confident entering 6th grade at Chandler Prep. With what she learned over the summer through this program and the assistance/coaching she is getting through Chandler Prep special services, she is a much more independent learner. Report cards came out today and she received 3 A's and 2 B+'s. This is extraordinary! While the program is pricey it was well worth the academic results plus schoolwork is far less stressful my daughter.
