I was on a quest to find FatBoy seconds, and I found myself in the remote town of Lewiston at Casper's Malt Shoppe. If you're on the same quest, be sure not to go to the corporate office next door, but follow the signs to the malt shop where the ice cream is actually sold. (If you go to the headquarters, there's a sign out front reminding you that no ice cream is sold there, go to the malt shop.) The malt shop has a drive through where you can get all sorts of delicious treats. You can also opt to go inside and sit at a table while you enjoy your ice cream. My in-laws live about 2 hours south of this place and had taken my husband and I on a road trip. We stopped at Gozzner's first and decided to check out this creamery afterwards. We were completely blown away by the deals and the free items that come with your purchase. We all loved the creaminess of our shakes and took a 10 minute drive towards Idaho so we can check out the little town near the border. We order 2 9oz shakes, 2 16oz shakes, and 1 case of the fat boys. We got 2 cases of mini fat boys free and were shocked. 2 things- It wasn't the fastest service we have had, but we were so pleasantly surprised by the deals, we were not bothered by the speed. Also, we did not expect them to only be open for dining at 4pm. Our fault for not checking first. read more

Thank goodness my cousin knew about this treasure in the middle of rural northern Utah. This ice cream store is attached to the factory where the product is made so the ice cream tasted very fresh. I was really surprised when I purchased ice cream for everyone in my party (3) and the total price was $3. I had a key lime ice cream sandwich and it was easily the best key lime ice cream sandwich I've ever eaten. I wished I lived closer so I could go back and try more flavors. A box of 50 sandwiches cost $12 ($0.24 ea) so it's probably good thing I don't live closer otherwise my gym membership would increase, and my belt size. So good!! read more

I just heard about this place after going to Pepperidge Farms (3min away) in the middle of not much Richmond, Utah. The malt shoppe has a bunch of ice cream options at cheap prices to sit and enjoy inside. There is a drive-through as well. There are also plenty of defective products that the factory cannot ship out to grocery stores that the malt shoppe sells at reduced prices. You can get big boxes of fat boys for around $7, it's such a good deal! The ice cream is pretty creamy and they have some great flavors. I think I had the rootbeer float soft serve, elderberry, and raspberry. Very strong as well so you only need one scoop to satisfy your craving. We enjoyed our quick little visit and our fat boys stayed frozen really well in a cooler bag on our drive back to the Salt Lake area. Keep in mind that it takes a minute to get your order because the employees are serving it up one at a time. Take a break and relax! If you go here you should also check out the Pepperidge Farms outlet down the road and Gossner Dairy a few miles away. read more

The ice cream is good, it's have a super creamy texture. They have the classic flavors that are always available and the seasonal ones, being the peach and watermelon my favorites of all time. They sale ice cream by cup or cone, shakes, and prepackaged Fat Boys and ice cream bars. The good thing about the prepackaged is the factory price tags. The servers are quick and sometimes I get a smile with my order. They have a drive-thru and also tables to enjoy the ice cream right there. read more

Casper's ice cream shop offers generous portions at a very reasonable price. Whether it's a freshly dipped ice cream bar, malt, shake or ice cream cone you will enjoy it. Today I got the "not enough" sized (small) cookies and cream shake and it was plenty big for me. You can also buy ice cream sandwiches and bars by the case and save a ton of money.
