I'm a born-and-bred Utahan, which means that I like candy. A lot. So my most recent visit to Logan included a stop at the Bluebird Candy Company, since it was highly recommended. They have cases of chocolate as well as little baggies of other assorted candies and some bulk candies you can fill a bag with. I opted for a small bag of assorted candies as well as a few tiny sample size bags to take home to the family. It was a great way to get a little something for everyone without breaking the bank. When you visit, be sure to take a little stroll down the nearby alley with all the brightly colored umbrellas hanging up above. It's a beautiful place to enjoy a sweet treat. read more

This shop is so pretty! The service was great, bathrooms were clean, and they offer so many chocolate and candy options. I picked up a dark chocolate pecan turtle for my hubby and some of his favorite old time lemon heads. Bluebird Candies is a must visit when in the Logan area, if for no other reason than they are basically an institution, having been around over 100 years! They recently updated their interior, and it is adorable, like the 2020 interpretation of a shined up old school candy shop. From the decorative tiled floor, to the warm wooden shelving with original brick showing through, and large glass windows allowing a peek into the kitchen, I adored the whole lewk! They offer most chocolates in milk or dark, some in white as well. There are sugar free varieties, fudge, a couple baked goodies, ice cream, popcorn, caramel apples, and some outside-made hard candies and cotton candy, too. For gifts, you will find locally made jam and honey, and even some bath and body products. They have pre-boxed chocolates and gift baskets, but unless you are short on time, have some fun and pick out your own! That is what I did, and found their namesake brownie has wonderful flavor and moist texture, but is too sweet with milk chocolate buttercream. The same could be said for all "dark" chocolates as theirs is really only a just-dark milk. Paired with the rather sugary fillings, it is a little much. That said, their hazelnut truffle was tasty, with a firm, but not dry filling. Cookie dough truffle is a creative idea, and well done. The Billy mint is fondant filled, but better than standard. I quite enjoyed their marshmallow and caramel chocolate - one of my favorites anywhere. The few reviews mentioning a grouchy shopgirl surprise me. Perhaps there once was, but Miss Mya, who assisted me, was about the most honey sweet sunshine person I ever met! Prices are a bit lower than similar stores in the SLC area: About $20/lb for bulk chocolates (meaning chocolates not boxed, which adds a small additional cost) and other candies $8-$14/lb. Branding on boxes and packaging is old fashioned and darn adorable, ideal for gift giving. A few bistro tables are available inside, but I would grab an ice cream or a couple treats, enjoy them on a stroll along the charming streets, and do some window-shopping. read more

I can share that I wasn't blown away by this store but I did have a white chocolate cluster that I enjoyed eating while driving out of town. My kids got old school candy sticks. The candy arm of Logan's iconic Bluebird Diner, the Bluebird Candy Company is located along historic Center Street, just around the corner from the longtime restaurant. There are chocolates in roughly three dozen flavors of truffles, caramels and other concoctions! We opted to indulge in a 1lb box and got to choose plenty of selections. I commend the very patient employee who tolerated our innumerable questions and requests as we completed our order! There is also a little ice cream counter in the shop, should your cravings steer you toward a cold treat, but chocolate is the name of the game here! Best chocolates in Utah! Not a hint of paraffin or wax and the centers flavors are amazing, not just sweet goo like many others.

One of my favorite places to stop in for a sweet treat! The cinnamon chocolate covered gummy bears are better here than anywhere else. The Phoenix truffle with spice on it is amazing, and the butterballs are addicting. The shop itself is beautiful and timeless, a great example of Logan's original Main Street architecture but up to date and very clean. The customer service for me has always been great! The one thing that could improve is if you're selecting a custom chocolate box as a gift for someone I think they should offer the wrapper holders for each chocolate so they aren't smooshing around in there (because you're gonna want to send a box of these to everyone you know all over the country)and tape the box for you. I'm always praying they arrive in one piece. read more

Best chocolates! My parents grew up in Logan, Utah, home of Bluebird Candy Co, and had Bluebird chocolates shipped to us in California every Christmas in the 50's and 60's. Best part of Christmas. I used to visit Logan in the summer as a kid and loved the Bluebird "tin roof sundae." I just ordered 2 lbs of chocolates for myself, and these are just as good as ever. Even better than See's. Rich, crisp flavors. Great customer service. The "Rotary" chocolate center alone justifies 5 stars. So glad Bluebird is still here. If any descendants of Sid or guy Cardin are still around, congrats! Very cute place! There were several employees making chocolates in back while we were there which was fun to watch. We picked out a large selection of chocolates and have enjoyed all the ones we've tried so far. The dark chocolate honey sea foam was amazing! Kid picked out a dark chocolate raspberry jelly stick and I was so surprised that it wasn't the usual gelatinous filling - it was much softer, more like jam, and had wonderful raspberry flavor. Horrible customer service. Had a gift card we never used and they told us it's 'expired' and are just going to pocket the money and not provide a refund. Overpriced goods, shipping is priced almost 100% of the average gift basket's price, so even if they would honor our gift certificate over half of it would have gone just to UPS Ground (7-10 day service). This is just a tiny chocolate store. I read that you could go on tours of where they make the chocolate but you have to call ahead to do so. The chocolates were good, but nothing too great. I get chocolates from here as a gift from a co-worker about twice a year. The Pecan Rolls are really good, but huge! I tried to find a way to finish them in one sitting, but wow, it's just too sweet. And the rum filling in the center is really strong! The individual chocolate candy pieces are really good, too. The caramel is creamy and gooey, and the chocolate just melts perfectly. You know that candy store on Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory? The one with the song that goes like: "Who can take a sunrise Sprinkle it in dew Cover it in chocolate and a miracle or two? The candyman The candyman can" Yeah.... This ain't that place. We were walking around downtown with our little girls and thought we would step in here and build a cherished memory. There was no-one else in the store but the woman behind the counter. Mind you when you walk in this place, the customer area is a narrow isle with chocolates on display and she is right on the other side so it is a very intimate setting. We say hello (we being my wife and I) she just stares at us. We try to get our girls to even look at the confectionary delights but the woman continues to wordlessly leer at us from behind the counter like we had interrupted some scandalous behavior in the back. Sweeny Todd style or something. Our girls hid behind our legs the whole time (which was short mind you) at this place. The chocolates SMELLED delicious but none dared to request a sample. We walked out. No 'thanks for coming in' or 'have a nice day'. No song, no dance, no chocolate sprinkled in our eager hands. No. Not even a word from the lips of our childhood idol the candy woman. read more

Boxed chocolates are just okay, not my thing. Bars and rolls here vary, but if it combines caramel and chocolate it's tasty here. Their turtles are delicious. They do it old-fashioned here, been doing it that way for 100 years. I'm more into modern chocolates -- interesting flavor combos, soft fillings in hard shells like Belgian chocolates or truffles. Lived in Logan for ten years, worked at The Bluebird in the '80s and have always loved this place and everything it serves. I'm baffled as to why the other reviewers have been so hard or "meh" about it . . . stunned that one person would leave a one star review merely because the girl behind the candy counter was apparently having an off day. Geez, man - if you just ignored the death stare and given her a smile, she might've smiled back. Everybody has difficult moments every now and then. My son and I came up here (we now live a bit further South) last November for some post-election comfort food (needed it! HA!) and I found the food and chocolates to be even BETTER than they were in the '80s. The decor is a sweet little time capsule of pre-industrial military complex America - when everything was still human-sized and they built things to last 102 years. There is a specialty chocolate shop in Las Vegas where the chocolates are 2 to 4 times as expensive yet only half as good as Bluebird. Unlike others, I've never had bad customer service from any of their locations, and I've been a customer for more than 3 decades. But then again, I'm going because I think the chocolate is wonderful, instead of going because I want their counter staff to pamper me or because I want to weasel my way into some free product. The remodel they did on their main location since 2016 makes it all the more charming and lovely to visit now. Since I live out of town, I love being able to order online now and have chocolates delivered to special someones on special occasions. I have found the quality of the chocolates consistently wonderful over the decades, and the variety of options and flavors delightfully overwhelming. This place is deep in the heart of my husband -as child his parents always took a ride from southern Idaho to Logan to hit the cheese factory and Bluebird chocolates. When you make a point to stop somewhere -look forward to it and it proves disappointing it makes it all the worse. I agree with the other review about lady helping behind the counter. I bought $30 of chocolates and I don't believe she ever said a word??! I've worked retail for 30 years-just put someone nice back there. That being said, I bought a variety of chocolates and the truffles were very nice-they are kept in a cool room. Love the O'Aggie bar-can't be beat. The chocolates are kept in an open back case and they have taken on the "smell" of the old building that the storefront is housed in. Maybe that makes them "stale" as they have sat there too long? Especially the nut confections. I'm giving 3 stars for the bar -it's wrapped- and nostalgia. read more
