Lava Hot Springs is a cute little tourist town with a small little Main Street and having a corner ice cream shop just makes it more of a cute hometown kind of feel! They have their signature square ice cream scoops and their mint chocolate chip and chocolate peanut butter ice cream tasted great! Cute sweet shop in downtown lava hot springs. Went out to eat at a Thai food place and then were walking around back to the car and stopped in this place to check out some ice cream. There wasn't anything dairy free, maybe a sorbet or something but I didn't end up getting anything from the ice cream area of it, I did get some kind of dessert that was a candy type thing. Would stop back in but hopefully they could get some dairy free and gluten free options! read more

Omg you know how when you're out with your friends and you decide to stop for ice cream once you get to Lava Hot Springs and then after dinner, you think ice cream is a great idea again so you get ice cream for the second time within two hours? Yeah...me neither...that would be crazy... Ok I lied, that's exactly what happened. Sweet Stuff...that's what's up. We pop into this ice cream shop. It is cute and there are all kinds of candies and whatnot to look through. In the left back area, lies some of the best ice cream in the whole wide world. I had to look up my ice cream flavor because I can't remember what it was called, and then here we are...I still can't find it. It was the chocolatey flavor and I believe it had brownies and marshmallow in it. I got it in a waffle cone and was shocked when it was handed to me as a square. I had never seen ice cream like this before! A little bit more about the square: it is freaking genius. It doesn't seem like much, but somehow, someway, it makes the ratio of waffle to ice cream PERFECT THE ENTIRE TIME. I am obsessed! The funniest part is that it wasn't any worse the second time we got ice cream. I would love to back very soon because it really was that good. Another funny little side note, I am pretty sure everyone in this town has beef with the ice cream shop. It became a running joke on the trip because every single store that is not the ice cream shop, has a sign prohibiting ice cream in their store. I mean, I get the ice cream can get sticky and whatnot...but this is true with all ice creams. However, it is the first time I have ever seen signs all over town prohibiting the ice cream. I have been to many towns with famous ice cream and this was a first for me. I am so excited for my next trip up to Idaho because I will definitely be stopping at Sweet Stuff again. We only ended up eating here after the first two places we tried were closed and the third place was out of everything we tried to order, so we were pretty desperate. The only "food" they offer is subway-style sandwiches, which are pretty much what you expect, but the ladies working the day we were there were super friendly and even made us a special sandwich not on the menu. We came back for dessert and, obviously, that is where this place really shines. I got a freeze, which I love and is not offered at enough places. We also got "The Ultimate," which was so huge, it easily filled the three of us with plenty to spare. read more

This place is a cute little sweet shop with square ice cream and fun candies, but it's nothing spectacular. We had to try the ice cream because who doesn't want to eat ice cream in the shape of a square?! We ordered a couple different flavors and tried bites of all of them. The ice cream was okay -- a little grainy and not as creamy or flavorful as I hoped. The cool thing about it was the shape, not the taste. They also have a deli here, but we didn't try anything from it. Even though the ice cream wasn't especially good, we had a good experience here. There was a long line, but it moved very quickly! We were only waiting for a few minutes. The employees were helpful and kind, too, and there were some unique flavors! The ice cream wasn't that bad, it's just the customer service that sucks. The past 2 times I went there, the teenagers working at the counter were rude and barely even acknowledged me until I started saying my order. Been here twice now and have enjoyed it both times. Reason for four stars? I don't eat ice cream so I don't know what it tastes like, just know my kids have loved it. They have like 5 employees at one time trying to help anyone that's ready and they try to get you in and out. Their square scoops are awesome and inventive. Not a lot of sitting room and air conditioning on full blast. Which is nice on a hot day but not good on a day of tubing the river. Lol. I will go here every time I go to the springs. read more

As I stood outside eating my square brick of chocolate chip cookie dough, a family came out of the pizzeria next door and as they were walking into Sweet Stuff, one member squealed, "They have the BEST ice cream." I may have been falsely misled into believing they really do have the best ice cream if I hadn't already been eating mine. Either that guy hasn't made it far from Lava Hot Springs in his approximate 30 years or his statement was a bit of a stretch. I'd rate the ice cream itself about a 5/10 but you really can't ask for a cheaper treat in a tourist town at just around $3 a pop. I'm not trying to be unfair. I went twice in less than 48 hours so it's good enough even for the most critical ice cream lovers. There's also an abundance of other sugary options and some sweet souvenirs - like flasks for the prude hot pools :) Now you know! Take a dip and discreetly get your drink on, you heathens! read more

Square Ice Cream. I'm a firm believer that different shapes change the flavor! Kidding aside, I don't care what shape it's in, it's so delicious! Maybe it was all in my head but honestly, the ice cream velvety, smooth, and not overtly sweet. The staff were incredibly friendly and fast. Don't judge Lava Hot Spring's quaint town and be fooled into thinking that they'll have meager offerings. Only giving this 2 stars because the ice cream itself wasn't bad. However they use a 'portion control' rectangular ice cream thing. It come onto a cone watery and literally makes no sense as it is a weird square/rectangular block on there. Sweet Stuff was a great place to stop for ice cream and Idaho Spuds after a dip in the hot springs.

I've been coming here every summer and we have loved this place. This year we have came twice and the kids working the counter have the worse attitude. Literally tossed my change at me & charged me an additional 50 cents because my order was under $10. Never heard of such a thing. Last time I recall they charged a fee for credit cards not cash. We are working in Lava this summer and it's a shame that they have such bad customer service. Will not be returning until they have that resolved. read more

Typical candy shop. Huckleberry flavored everything if you are into that. There was also huge slabs of fudge. I had a square ice cream cone and it was good. We passed this little shop earlier in the day and saw they had sandwiches and fudge. We went back for sandwiches at lunch and saw everything they had to offer. Walking in I wasn't sure if adults were allowed the chairs are bright pink and white, small and just plastic and fake so it was weird - not to mention there were half a dozen unsupervised children running around - it honestly looked like a kids party or day care.. Regardless, we came for a sandwich and proceeded to order. The sandwiches (subs..?) were great! Fresh vegetable toppings, tomato slice on the spot for both our meals. Really good! I won't lie they were a bit light on meat but it didn't ruin the sandwich. We didn't end up with fudge - I got play dough ice cream however, because it is the best ice cream in the world and not easy to find!! We are in the weird plastic little chairs and table that turned out to not be as bad as they looked. We enjoyed the unique candy selection but didn't end up buying - might stop back in before we leave town, for some fudge and some candy! I cannot forget that they do have an awesome coffee menu - I didn't try it but liked the options they do offer, and then an unbelievable amount of ice cream options (shakes, smoothies, cones, cups, sandwiches, sundaes, toppings like you wouldn't believe!) this place knows what they are doing on all fronts!! Cute little shop perfect for dessert after dinner in Lava Hot Springs. My boyfriend and I both got "square" ice cream, which I thought was interesting. It is the first time either of us have seen it. The ice cream was good and the young woman serving was polite and fast. It also looked like they sold house-made fudge and had a variety of other candies for sale. No complaints, except my boyfriend's ice cream had ice crystals in it- so either it was really cold or a little old. Either way, it still tasted good. read more

This place is awesome! We stopped here on a road trip and figured this would be a good place to get some ice cream. They scooped the ice cream in fun square shapes and it tasted great. We ordered a three scoop sundae -the second most expensive item on the menu. It came in a one pint cup and with three scoops, toppings and whipped cream it didn't even come to the top of the rim of the cup. The ice cream was terrible with ice crystals. Ice cream is pricey, but pretty good. The staff is extremely unpleasant and short, seems like they'd have a better attitude towards paying costumers. I didn't see any hair nets or gloves being worn while they got my ice cream as well. A charming local business for ice cream, smoothies, and coffee. The service was fast and the prices are reasonable. I had the chocolate peanut butter ice cream, one of my favorites. They serve Farr's ice cream, which is rich and creamy. Unfortunately, several members in my party ate ice cream that had freezer burn and ice crystals. We just arrived at Lava Hot Springs and my kids' face lit up when they saw so many pokestops here in this small town! Being a good mother, I don't let them roam around town alone, so I tagged along while they tried to catch pokemons, get the poke balls, and battle the gyms. After a while I got so thirsty and saw a cute little ice cream shop. I trotted in and was amazed at the ice cream selections!
