The majority of the stars for this review go to our waitress, Karla. Stopped in on Father's Day, they were SUPER busy, but we still got a seat. Looked like they might have been short handed with wait staff on this holiday and from the length of time it took to get the food from the kitchen, I'm pretty sure a cook was missing. Husband had the chicken fried steak which someone recommended, 2 eggs over easy (cooked just like he likes them) and the largest, most buttered scone I think I've ever seen in my life. I'm not a chicken fried steak fan, but this one was different - more like chopped steak with very little breading. I'd eat it in a heartbeat! I went with a senior breakfast of a scrambled egg, ham, toast and country potatoes. Very little seasoning on any of it, but somehow it was still tasty. No drink refills needed. Karla handled our check out quickly and I never saw her lose her cool, in spite of the continuing flow of people through the front door. Will return when we are in the area. read more

5 stars for the food and service at the restaurant, zero stars for adult paraphernalia being sold in restroom vending machine. So technically this is a 2.5 star review. Made a pit stop on the way from the national parks to SLC airport. Got the BLT sandwich with onion rings. Both were pretty good. The prices were great and the view of the countryside was nice. The one lady servicing the whole diner had a great attitude for being the only one manning the tables. Overall the quality of food and service was surprisingly good for a roadside diner attached to a gas station in the middle of nowhere. HOWEVER, as noted in the intro above, the restroom which is located in the convenience store is not family friendly so you if you happen to be on a road trip with your kids you might not want to let your kids go in the restroom because they sell adult themed paraphernalia in the restroom vending machine claiming to fulfill your wildest dreams. read more

Great place to stop when you are in the middle of traveling between Salt Lake City, Utah and Pocatello, Idaho. They greet you and always have a smile no matter what is going on. Food was good, loved the bacon as it is local and fresh we also liked the staff! AND the food was served hot! I love the area, and it is easy to get to. If you want to have the quintessential American diner experience, this is the place. After the LONGEST drive ever, we stopped for gas and found this diner connected to the convenience store. At 10:30 PM it still had quite the crowd. We took a chance and ordered some breakfast. I got the breakfast steak with country potatoes, over easy egg, and a scone. My boyfriend got the Chicken Fried Steak with biscuits and gravy. First, the steak. Don't have too high of standards, it's still gas station diner steak. However, I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was better than I was expecting. Cooked to the right temperature, well seasoned, hit the spot when I needed it. The eggs were standard, thank goodness they didn't mess up EGGS. Now the potatoes, THE POTATOES. Perfect crispy outside and soft on the inside ratio. It was better than a lot of potatoes I've had at nicer places. They give a generous portion so I was so full, I couldn't finish. I also really enjoyed the scone. Super greasy but in the right way. The Chicken Fried Steak and biscuits and gravy were just OK. Minus one star for a meh dish. Otherwise, this place deserves the recognition. Service was great. The place was clean, considering the gas station theme. And they had funny tabletop books for entertainment. read more

I like the food here but my biggest complaint is that my food is always cold!! Also the wait times on average from the order time to delivery of our food is 20 minutes.. even when there is only one other table with customers.. my eggs where cold, bacon was flavorful but I had to Pat off the grease and my pancake had butter but it wouldn't melt because the pancake was lukewarm at best.. Now the wait staff are attentive and Karla is especially sweet.. this review is about the poor temp of the food and the excessive wait time to then receive cold/lukewarm food. read more

This place is not open 24/7. It is misleading everyone by claiming to be open 24 hours. We were driving back to Utah from Yellowstone late in the night. So, we had planned to stop here for dinner as this was on the way. But when we reached there at 11.01, we were sent back saying we were late by a minute! I hope they update their correct working hours in this page so that they don't cause inconvenience to others. read more

Pleasantly surprised! We had breakfast at the cafe, they serve it all day. We had pancakes, ham, scones, eggs, bacon, & hash browns. Everything was yummy. We also had good service. If in the area again, we Wood definitely go back. read more

Under new management there has been some changes. The most irritating change is the removal of the American and POW Flags from the flag pole. I noticed everything in the store has had a dynamic cost increase. Obviously the new owners don't care if their store is successful or if the local patrons stop coming in to support it. Good luck surviving the winters in Idaho. You get two stars for the employees that work hard for customer satisfaction in spite of the price increases. Bring back the Flags. read more

Definitely worth the stop. A no fuss restaurant in a gas station/truck stop right off the interstate. Service was...I don't want to say slow...laid back? But, maybe we were anxious to eat and get back on the road. Staff was very friendly! The food was wonderful! Went with the country fried steak; excellent and a huge portion. Mashed potatoes; superb, as expected-it's Idaho! Biscuit and scone; homemade and also excellent. Great price, especially for the portions. read more

Always love flaggs. Used to come here with my dad for breakfast regularly before he passed. Breakfast is modestly priced with large portions. Scones bites are a great appetizer. Shakes are decent sized and well presented. Service was friendly. There were busy when we arrived so it was a little slow to order but food came out timely. Would recommend. The last two times we have been in there, the food was not that good. I had the steak fingers. The meat was cold, like it was taken out of the refrigerator to sit on the counter to warm up. Server took meal back to cook. I was given a new meal and was not charged for it. Then yesterday had the club sandwich. Sandwich was fine. Fries were cold and overcooked. We are regulars at this place, so to get meals twice in a row is not a good thing. And the server yesterday needs to learn customer service. She was border line rude. Most of the servers are fantastic and we enjoy visiting with them. read more

I live in Downey and go into the Shell station all the time. My mom was visiting so we decided to grab some lunch from Flags West. The food was really good! Everybody finished their plates. I had a Great Dane burger and it was excellent. The only thing that was off putting was the waitress. She made it feel like we were an inconvenience and made my mom go sit back down to pay instead of paying at the register. Which was a little weird. But it wasn't enough to make me not want to go back. The food is delicious and the service was fairly quick. read more
