Great burgers!!! Friendly service and fast. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through cause that's what I was doing. The place is kind of small and limited seating but worth the stop

    Normal hours

They are open until 7:30pm most nights!!! Beware the times listed...call! So glad we did, as we were able to have the place to ourselves in the mid-afternoon. Despite it being a slow time (kinda right between lunch and dinner), the salad bar had just been restocked--so everything was fresh. Eggwhites in the chopped egg were slightly rubbery--and if THAT is my only nitpick... They bring a fresh, baked-there mini-loaf on its own bread board, along with honey to go with the butter! Chicken-fried steak was moist, with good flavor, prepared in a nice homemade batter. Corn was meh, but gravy was good, with above average mashed potatoes. They have giblets!! If you're into that. (!!) The homemade pie looks great...Also, a small but completely satisfying softy cone was included in our meal! Cheesecake or strawberry flavors, on our day. Service was terrific-- Lana (sp?) was warm and friendly, didn't seem to mind us taking time to go through the big menu, happily answered questions and made our respite that much nicer.

Stay away. It was as if the place froze in 1960. It smelled like an old library book. Horrible service horrible food. Waited for over an hour. You have been warned.

    Ho made? Sounds good!

We did not actually eat here because they are closed for three weeks. But that's OK. I gave them a five star review for the painting they had on their window. It said Ho-made pie. That's just awesome!

The menu is huge. Ordered fish and chips. It was ok, would choose something different if I went there again. The gals helping were very friendly. Some of the meals came with small loaves of bread, those were yummy. They had large tables for bigger groups and also table for 2. They don't have a soda fountain, pop is in cans. A lot of locals were eating there.

Mini ice cream 50 cents. Homemade.

The food was outstanding - the generous amount and the taste. Service was also noteworthy - friendly and efficient.

Lately, when visiting Pocatello, we've been able to visit a few places that are clustered together…read morein what could only be described as the traditional Grandpa's-Diner-Club. This most recent visit was to Elmer's Restaurant. They have a nice-sized corner parking lot, with lots of big blue signs to alert you that the spots are reserved for Elmer's guests. Up against the building, an alcove sets out where a sporty red car sits in front of a paper 'No Parking' sign--surely Elmer. The building is one of those old, deep-foundation squat ones where only a very short wall holds the windows higher than the sidewalk. We made our way to the entrance, and I pulled open one of those classic, heavy glass diner doors. While the other two in my group, being ready for menus, quickly stepped in, I stayed holding the door for a party of five right on our heels. That was pretty much the story in there: not a single two-top in the place. It was fairly busy, with all big-tops having three to six people. Each of the three servers was handling their fair share of them--keeps a server moving. There was a fourth server, an older woman, tediously wrapping up silverware during the coming rush--this restaurant's still hanging in there OG. As far as the atmosphere: The noise decibel was low, as relaxed energy peacefully flowed from the families dining in there, but the three servers on the floor keeping up with the large tables were humming around as if motor-powered. We were sat fairly quickly by a highly energetic young lady (the youngest in there) who had that nervous smile of 'don't show the stress' plastered on her face. She was very nice and gave a nod to our server, who quickly approached us for our drink orders. I didn't need a menu for that, "coffee please" were my very first words spoken at Elmer's, with my other half quickly echoing. The third in our party, as is her norm, ordered the most dazzling fruity concoction on the menu, lol--she loved her Blended Strawberry Lemonade. With drinks out of the way, we turned our focus to the menu. The menu is pretty big with three pages of breakfast alone, and lots of tantalizing photos of dishes to tempt a hungry reader. It is hard to explain, but it strikes a perfect balance that seems to be 'unique-traditional'--Elmer's signature. Two of us, including me, got the delicious Potato Cakes Breakfast, with eggs and sausage. Topped with sour cream, the cakes come with cheese and onions cooked in. I added some chunky salsa on top--ohhh my goodnessmagnificent. My other half ordered the very different Fresh Fruit German Pancake, and Chicken Apple Sausage links. She especially loved the sausage, but said both were very good. Elmer's food is all great! I doubt the owner's name is Elmer (as the door sign reveals--owner's name is Earl), but our server told me that he snapped the pics of the nature prints around the walls, so I do know he's a great photographer. The coffee is really good, the food is spectacular, and the service is flawless! Elmer's can be summed up as 'a perfection of that hometown, unpretentious hospitality and hustle.' One of my highest breakfast diner recommendations--Super-Scale 8*

We were in an hour and a half prior to closing and were seated in the table area of the restaurant…read more Our server was especially sweet and obervant. The food was okay-if a little bland on the hashbrown gravy. However, prior to getting our meal half of the dining room we were in was closed off and before we finished our meal (a good 45 minutes before closing) they were vacumning on the other side of the partition they'd pulled across. Not particularly welcoming, Elmer's and it's not the first time it has happened to us. This doesn't even include the table full of tomorrow's set ups that employees were working and gabbing at. Ultimately, either you're open or you're not. Vacumning around people trying to eat is rude. Be better.

Let me start with the servers the first time in i was greeted promptly with a smile by Laken, my server. The atmosphere was cozy with defined areas. Everything was clean and and cared for right down to the bathrooms. i could tell ownership has a quirky sense of humor based on the merchandise they sell. As i waited for the meal i watched the two servers working diligently with a smile, they didn't miss a beat with being attentive to their patrons and all of the other aspects of their job. Honestly i watched too see if they could keep the same place throughout my time there they worked like a fine oiled machine. Without having to say a word to each other they knew what to do to help each other. I can't imagine this being an easy task.. The second time coming in, i really wanted to see if the excellence was a fluke, but to my delight it was the same great experience as the first time. Serenity, My server worked with the same diligence as the first time i watched her working and again without missing a beat of the friendly service as i had with Laken, the first time in. Now here's the kicker the service was so good, i asked to speak with a manager or owner, I was told there wasn't a manager or owner present. They were self monitoring, that blew me away, these young ladies working like they were on their own, it screams volumes for their work ethics and management. Now for the food, presentation was just like the menu pics. I apologize i failed to take pics as it was served so it is pics from the menu. The was good, the breakfast i had was cooked, in my opinion, perfectly. There breakfast sausage was different than any other I've had. I've been to a lot of places. I highly recommend this place even the locals were really friendly with conversation they made me laugh, one of the locals went out to his truck and brought this spoon guy to me. I live over an hour away but i will say well worth the drive mainly for the experience. Now if i have to say anything that i would like to see different it would be the fly traps. They aren't intrusive but i would maybe use an alternative. But I'm not a fly expert and it's not a deal breaker. This is my honest review, i don't know and have never met anyone from this establishment have never met any of the

Bear Lake's Best-Kept Secret (That Apparently Everyone's Mad About?)…read more Let's get something straight: I've eaten at Bear Lake my whole life, and up until now, "dining out" here meant a basket of something fried in oil older than the lake itself. So when I tell you Campfire Grill made me remember what actual food tastes like, understand the weight of the statement. The margherita pizza comes out of the wood-fired oven blistered and glorious--like it's personally trying to make up for decades of regional culinary disappointment. The wedge salad's blue cheese has a faint smoky thing going on, dotted with tiny chives, and tasted like somebody in that kitchen has actually left the county before. And don't get me started on the wings: homemade buffalo sauce, still crispy, and not a hint of gas-station-regret afterward. Add giant open windows that turn the whole dining room into an al fresca reprieve, competent waitstaff, and you've got yourself an actual bona fide restaurant in a place that has subsisted on fry-baskets since one of the Roosevelt administrations. So, to the one-star crowd: I don't know what you were expecting. This isn't Salt Lake City. It's Bear Lake. And for Bear Lake, this is nothing short of miracle work.
