My first impression was off a little bit. Would have liked a little more sandwich than what I got. It was definitely fresh and tasty. Moved on to the homemade soup and was impressed with the quality. It was very filing. It was at this point I realized I was getting full. Topped it all off with the two cookies and thought, I would be paying the same amount at a fast food restaurant for a burger, fries and a coke. After a breaking down in the middle of no where, being towed to Pocatello, and being told they couldn't fix our car, my dad and I were looking for a place to regroup, lick our wounds and most importantly eat, within walking distance of the dealership. I turned on my phone and found this shop! We walked over and were greeted with a smiling face of the sweetest girl ever! She was so kind (we looked bedraggled) and recommended the combo meal for us. The dinning area is cozy and surprisingly spacious! They have a big menu with custom drinks and lots of treats. I got a turkey bacon sandwich with banana cream pie. My dad also got the turkey bacon sandwich but he got the potato soup instead. I was very impressed to learn from our waitress that the bread on the sandwiches is made at the restaurant. Everything tasted wonderful but the only two things that I had to knock off a star from is that the soup was very thick and a little bland. And my banana cream pie was all cream and no pie. Which was a shame since when I did have filling it was DELICIOUS! Over all I would definitely recommend this if you need a place to relax and have some food. ButterBurr's is a Pocatello cult classic. Everyone claims to love it and would be heartbroken if it went away. Unfortunately, it's just okay. Lickety split is a quick & easy stop that skips the wait time typical of the restaurant's sit down version. I ordered the SST and chose the potato bacon soup, French dip sandwich and a cinnamon twist. The soup is gelatinous which leads me to believe it uses cornstarch as a shortcut instead of a roux to thicken. It does have great flavor though. The French dip came out on their homemade bread. The bread is delicious, but not right for a French dip as it was soggy before I could even try dipping. I will say that the cinnamon twist was quite tasty! My husband's coconut cream pie was mostly whipped cream with what seemed like store-bought coconut pudding. Overall, ButterBurr's Lickety Split knows how to get a lot of their flavors right, but they take too many shortcuts that decreases the quality of your meal. read more

Lickety split is defined by the dictionary : as quickly as possible; immediately.Never the case here , sometimes I even turn off my engine to save the environment and feel like I am stuck in traffic in a city 10 times bigger than Pocatello . That is not the part I miss from living in a more populated area.Even if there is just 1 vehicle in fornt of me it often takes anywhere between 15 and 17 minutes to be served. With the same success I could have gone to the regular ButterBurr's across the street and sometimes even get my food even faster. read more

We were driving through on NYE, and this was one of the few places open. ButterBurr's Lickety Split was said to offer quickly prepared sandwiches, soups, and different pies. The soups offered were chicken noodle, potato bacon and French vegetable. I selected the potato bacon -- and it was super thick and jiggly. Served with a breadstick. The chicken noodle was said to be decent and mellow, with what appeared to be homemade noodles. Several people in our group (6) ordered the steak n stuff sandwich. Every single one of them said there was not nearly enough meat, too much cheese, disappointment over the raw peppers and raw onions. And way too much bread. This food was just okay -- it wasn't very good. I think they need to not scrimp on their meat, especially for $9 or $10 for just a sandwich. I have never tried ButterBurrs until today. They have several options for "combos" - sandwich soup treat, sandwich treat, sandwich soup or salad. I am a lover of salad and sandwiches. They have several options for salad, however none of the salads except for the house salad are available in a combo. My party purchased several different combos; I myself had the sandwich and salad combo. The sandwich: turkey bacon club. Mayo, pickles, red onion, thin sliced turkey, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, on a dryish blah-tasting white roll. Something I could make at home for cheaper. Mediocre at best. The salad: hard boiled egg, stale croutons, lettuce, pre-chopped tomatoes, chopped carrots, cucumbers, red onion, $1 extra for cheese. Super basic, but it is a house salad. Why only have one salad option for the combo? Is it that hard to make a half salad of something with more zest? My grandfather ordered the pastrami and swiss sandwich, which was only pastrami and swiss on the same roll as the turkey, with mustard on the side. A huge letdown, as that is his favorite sandwich. Others in my party ordered "treats": the chocolate pie tasted like plain chocolate pudding in a pie crust. The lemon pie was 75% whipped cream. Apple pie was described to me as mediocre. They forgot my cousin's chocolate milk, and finally he had to go up and ask for it. They didnt come and give us any refills. I will say that the girl on the register was lovely and offered to fix my meal as best she could. TL;DR food is ok, service is ok, but go to Panera, its right down the street. read more

So imagine how exciting it was when they branched out with Lickety Split. That home made atmosphere and good food all rolled up in a new "fast food" concept. But alas the food from Lickety Split just isn't as good as its Mom & Dad,, Butter Burrs. Lickety's soups are lumpy and even their famous twists are heavy half baked loaves; one didn't have any filling in it. I have given them 3 tries but no more. It's back to Butter Burrs. read more

Left our campsite for a break in Pocatello to enjoy some A/C and pie at ButterBurr's. Maggie was so friendly and prompt. She recommended the sugar-free chocolate and banana pie. We were hesitant but she said she would give us another if we didn't. We ate all of it up. She also made a fab coffee drink and we ended up buying the Leapknot coffee bc it was that good. This is a huge local favorite. The pies are always really good and the twists are awesome, I prefer the fruit filled. That being said, I think the food is horrible. All the bread on sandwiches is sickeningly sweet and so delicate it just falls apart. Every soup I've had has been either intolerably salty or pasty and tasteless. Between the two meals we purchased one was a little mis leading, I purchased a drip coffee which was pretty decent, I drink it black no sugar or creamer want to get a great cup try it, but black rifle coffee company would have made this cup the best. Give the coffee a 4.5 out of 5.0 I had an open faced tuna, which was the right temperature, the other party got a"tomato soup" which was what seemed to be beef broth with large chunks of tomato, and grilled cheese which had a nice flavor, recommend the grilled cheese but not the bland tomato soup, all in all it was a friendly experience. But to each his own opinion some might like the soup so give it a try. read more
