Pho King Taste is by far the best place for me to eat!! I am the farthest thing from a food critic, but I know how to appreciate food prepared with love and pride from the home country!! I have never had a problem with lack of taste. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted. The funny thing about taste is that some have it and some don't. Other than the food, the service and atmosphere I simply the best. A simple come as you are place!! It 's like coming to eat with family!! It is a family owned and ran business. Hidden gem. From the outside you couldn't think to go here. Once you step inside it's very clean and inviting. Very friendly service. Great food. I always get the rare steak Pho. It's so delicious. The meat comes out separate before the pho. I like to marinade my steak with some soy sauce and black pepper while I wait for the pho to come out. read more

The Pho has always been inconsistent but this time it was just, plain terrible. The 'complimentary' hot & sour soup was ineatible. The Pho had no taste. Literally had no pho flavoring & completely bland. There was a few slices of what appeared to be old, over cooked beef pieces that I felt where unsafe to eat. The 'noodles' were way overcooked and the broth was noodle water. Upon checking out, I informed staff that the meal was terrible, which resulted in no apology other than she'd let the cooks know. Waitress (blonde) was wonderful! The popcorn chicken was tasty and the cheese wontons were likely some of the best i've had. Unfortunately, the Pho was not impressive. The broth tasted watered down. With enough hot sauce and lemon it was...edible. The noodles and meats were fine. Was looking forward to good Pho cuz the reviews looked good, but was disappointed. Was not a fan of the boba either. The wait staff asked how the food was and I felt kinda bad saying i didn't enjoy it. We tipped pretty decently and after tipping waited a while to get to-go boxes. Their restaurant name is accurate. Food was delicious. Not sure why pho came with lemon instead of lime wedge. Broth was good and beef actually came out rare, usually it's well done by the broth. I was surprised by the literal fried veggie roll. It's basically a breaded and deep fried spring roll, too doughy for my taste but was still super yummy. Very happy with the fresh tapioca boba. Phi King Tastea is one of several Chinese-based restaurants in Pocatello. And although the quality of Chinese cuisine in Pocatello is very lacking compared to the Denver area from where I recently moved, this restaurant is above average in its entrees. First of all, the potions are generous. My Kung-Pao Beef dish was large enough for two to three meals. And over the last year or so while eating here, all of the non-breaded dishes were tasty. The main exceptions are the breaded entrees, e.g. Orange and Honey Walnut dishes. They are overly sweet. The Chicken & Broccoli dish in particular is very flavorful with the chicken very tender and the broccoli still slightly crispy and crunchy, not soggy. The Chicken Lo Mein side dish was darker in color than expected but also tasty. Any protein cooked in a sauce without a breading or sugary coating should be enjoyable. The Kung Pao Beef dish was also flavorful but not as spicy as in other restaurants. BTW, this restaurant labels it dishes with a pepper symbol if it is spicy but you have to specifically ask for a spicy version; otherwise you get a milder version with a minimum touch of spice (in a 1-5 spice level at a Thai restaurant, think of an equivalent 1 -1 .5 level of heat). The place is clean, has a good ambiance and both the staff and cooks are friendly and eager to please. So, you will have a good atmosphere in which to eat. One of the problems I have, though, is with their soups. The Egg Drop Soup has a good look but is not flavorful. You have to add soy sauce to make it more palatable. The Hot & Soup also has a good look and texture but the vinegar taste is too strong, overwhelming the taste and almost making it unpalatable. I have not tried the Pho but the people in the next table who were eating it expressed no problems. My last disappointment is that there are no Tofu dishes or options on the menu. There are two minor vegetable side dishes but no entrée such as Mongolian Tofu or Mapo Tofu. When I asked the waitress about this, she discussed this with the cook but came back to state that there were no plans to add any such dishes to the menu. Each of the Thai restaurants in the area have tofu options in their curries and soups. I have no problems with returning here as the sauce-based entrees are tasty, the service pleasant and the atmosphere relaxing. But I still have to rate them as only slightly above average for the above problem areas. read more
