We had dinner last Friday at the amazing Dresden Room (and yes, I'm old school and prefer calling it by its original name) and walked mere steps from its front door when we were hailed into Y Que for a free comedy show. The store itself is amazing. Full of kitschy t-shirts, used vinyl for sale and other amazing things. The owner himself is friendly, gracious and welcoming. And the free comedy was amazing! I love finding hidden gems like this in our great city and we were so lucky to have just walked into Y Que on one of these amazing comedy nights! These came in both unisex (read: male) cuts and baby tees (read: children's + crop tops). Periodicals are always refreshed and Good people work here to support your perusal of them. Interview Magazine for example by Andy Warhol ( who doesn't want this in their home ) and this place has exotic internationally thick magaiznes like Apartmento which like a true book for a library this is not one you just read or look fit its to build your own person archive of books. The act of wrapping gifts is also present here and the creative wrapping paper exists here and nice people to actually wrap it for you so if you get something like a childrens book decimated to Harriett Beecher Stowe or even the Artist-formerly-known-as-Prince they can wrap it for you ( but its up to you to make sure the price tag has been removed as ive not done this one time and I still blame myself. ) so if you'd looking for a fresh Tarot Deck a book on Silvia Plath or Dorothy Parker this bookstore is for you as it's just the right blend of New York with our lovely City Of Angels.

Books, magazines, records, greeting cards, tarot cards, novelty items, smokes; they've got a great selection departing from the mundanity of the mainstream. What can I say, I am exactly the kind of person who belongs in this curated brand of alternative media's demographic (minus the witchy stuff, but if tarot and the occult appeal to you, you may find that portion of DP's inventory enticing). For instance, on one visit, I picked up a biography of kraut psych band CAN; if you happen to be aware of aforementioned band's existence, chances are you're in this demographic also. Go to the Daily Planet when you get the chance. On another trip to DP, I bought the Heartworm Reader, a collection of poems published by Heartworm Press, DP's owner's husband's publisher. (If such creative collaboration interests you and you are not already aware, DP's Amy Lee and HP's Wes Eisold are also in an excellent band known as Cold Cave.) Funnily, I knew of the band prior to stumbling upon the shop but was completely oblivious to the connection at first despite being pleasantly surprised to discover they stocked Cold Cave's records in their limited (however high quality) vinyl section. I always recommend the Daily Planet to likeminded friends visiting Hollywood, and they usually end up adding it to their lists of favorite LA spots, too.

I used to frequent this store on a regular basis to sell CD's and pick up something cool. It was such a great store with lots of vinyl, CDs, cassette tapes, and music memorabilia. I was surprised to see that it moved from its large store front to a small space around the corner and entrance is by appointment only. However, you can shop online and browse the diverse collection of rare and mint condition pieces at your leisure. No doubt you'll find some coveted pieces like an autographed Nine Inch Nails guitar for $1,750.00.

The alphabetical sorting was accurate and the soul section was well-stocked. Most of the records were priced fairly and I found a lot of records I have been searching for a long time. I bought out all the Blue Magic albums they had at the time and was able to find several ones that are not available on Spotify or Apple Music. My only comment is that I wish the used hip-hop section had less singles and more complete albums at reasonable prices. I will definitely return next time I'm in LA. Never said hello or asked if I needed help, in fact he completely ignored my presence the entire time I was there. In terms of their actual offerings, they have a lot of used vinyl, some of it is very rare. So, if you're looking for that really special something, you may very well be able to find it at this shop. They also have a lot of new vinyl. Some of it is of the older variety, and some of it is very new releases. So, whatever you're looking for, you should be able to find something here. In terms of their pricing, it's all very reasonable. Even the rare vintage vinyl they offer is priced very competitively in correlation with the modern market. This is the same with their new vinyl, their prices are very competitive. They also offer a few other items like some cassette tape and things like that. Thus, it is your one stop shop for when you want to grab that special piece of music. The staff here are all really nice. So if you need any help, they'll be happy to help you out. Overall, this is one of those dying breeds of shops, one that offers a grand selection of vinyl. It's a great place to visit, whether you're looking for that special record, or you're just looking to look. Overall, it's a great shopping experience.

The whole place has the atmosphere of people who used to be cool decades ago and are still furious the rest of the world moved on. You're selling records, lads, not guarding the master tapes at Abbey Road. Drop the attitude and try speaking to customers like human beings. From what I thought it was going to be a goodnight vibe going out to support the line up/headliners. We arrived at the exact time the venue advertised the artist will perform. The bouncer told us they actually ended 2 hours ago from the original time they said. I was furious because not even a notification was sent to us that they changed the time. I would figure venues would notify their customers about the time changes but not even an email sent. Definitely not coming back for another events to this location. Poor communication management with their customers.

Their selection is very comprehensive: ranging from Western superhero comics, to alt comics to manga horror. The store is very clearly divided, so the monthly comics are stored on one wall and the trade paperbacks and hardcover editions in the rest. I really enjoyed the minimalistic design: the white walls emphasize the colorful volumes much like a gallery space would its artwork. The clerk on duty was pleasant and helpful as several people came and went in the short time I was there. Comics are typically priced by publisher, so it's unlikely you would be surprised by the price of any of the inventory. Will definitely return.
