This place was still open and we stopped in to look at the menu. The family working in there were very social while they took our order. It is a small place inside but just big enough for a small town restaurant. The pizza was good and moderately priced. I would say a good place to go and get a slice if you are near this downtown location.

I had the cheese bread, which is incredible. (It's so difficult to choose between the cheese bread and the pretzel.) I tried the wrath burger. From the looks of it, a Pizza King pizza is definitely not a traditional pizza. Rather than the…read moreusual sliced veggies, mushrooms, pepperoni, bacon and such, everything is finely minced so that no one ingredient stands out or is easily recognizable. The crust is neither St. Louis thin, thankfully, nor thick like a deep dish or store bought rising crust pizza. It inhabits that middle ground like a Pizza Hut hand tossed. That being said, whenever I go back to Richmond/Centerville, usually for a high school reunion with this weekend being our 50th, one thing I always plan on is eating at Clara's Pizza King. There is something about its preparation and flavor that I really like. This past weekend, some twenty+ of my former classmates met up there and had a good time reminiscing and eventually eating. Our food didn't arrive until an hour and a half after we were seated. While disappointing, it's understandable considering the size of our group and I'm sure the staff was trying to have everything served at roughly the same time. The area we were sat at was the lowest level of the split level restaurant. The bulk of the lighting came from a single small window, which seemed somewhat blinding compared to the almost cave-like dim lighting for most of that area. Brighter lighting would be welcome there. So, there's room for improvement, but the food was on point and enjoyed by all.

Average sized appetizer portion, enough for the two of us to share. Ordered a Texas burger for my entree. It was good, loaded with toppings. Service was friendly and helpful, atmosphere was good, would dine here again.

I can't believe how rude she was and how she treated me, why didn't she tell me on the phone before having me drive all the way there that she wasn't going to bake it, why is it so hard to bake a pizza crust to a golden brown? Even the crappiest pizza places in town can do that. We will never go back. They lost a good customer that was VERY loyal and was there almost every weekend.

This is that type of Swanky joint in the heart of old downtown. Richmond, Indiana. The owners have been here since 2023 and brought that old school flavor if New York right here to Indiana. Very patriotic and American! The Pizzas are really a cut above and unlike any other box pizza joints available throughout the Richmond area. We samples the classic cheese and, pepperoni & sausage and their special flavor Jack chicken pictured below. Wow! Crunchy bottom crust, medium doughy center. Airy and fluffy from the gas fired pizza ovens. The combination of drizzling s makes this a very unique flavor. Ranch, buffalo, & tangy BBQ sauce compliment the Jack cheese and tender grilled chicken chunks. Perfect! The ingredient were fresh, temperature perfect and the crust holds up the slice without drooping or needing to pinch or fold new York style. Portion & size are generous but not obnoxious. I ordered a pepperoni & sausage slice to go and they provide a convenient anti slide pizza slice box. Nice touch! Prices are affordably reasonable for the swanky atmosphere! There were no customers but it was a bit in-between meal times. I had to speak in an extra loud voice to be heard by the woman behind the counter. It really was noisy for some reason, perhaps the air conditioning. I ordered an 11 inch original sub and an iced tea, with a coupon for the sub for $5.99. Drinks seem expensive, but they come with refills, and she brought 3 to the table before I left the building. I was surprised to find that tables hadn't been cleaned. I know that an empty dining room doesn't mean that they have no business. It just looks a bit undone when tables haven't been cleaned. The sandwich was ready quickly and the tea had been at my table for a while. The first thing I noticed was how sloppily the sandwich had been assembled. Some of the meat was about to fall out but the cheese was holding it together. It was good, but I always wonder about the reason for the pizza sauce. Is it for the extra zing or is it to hide the ingredients? I'll go with the extra zing for now. Of course, when a sandwich is messy, I assume that it will taste even better and it didn't disappoint. It was tasty and messy and I needed multiple napkins. I could say that the meal was really expensive, but the sub was big with lots of bread, which was toasty/crispy in a good way. I'd say half of it is enough for most people at a sitting. So, as two meals or splitting it with a second person, it's not a bad deal. As I usually say, the coupon helps at Pizza King.
