    The BEST meatball sub EVER!
    Sam R.

Holy moly. Who would expect to find such delicious eats in tiny Centerville, Indiana? And at a place like this, no less? I cannot speak for the pizza here (although it does look pretty good), because the two times I have been here I have ordered the meatball sub. (If you're coming here do yourself a solid and order it. Trust me.) My second visit was almost two years after the first, but the meatball sub at Americana Pizza hadn't changed a bit. It's ridiculously good. The bread is fresh, crisp on the outside but soft on the inside so that it absorbs the sauce without getting the bread soggy. The cheese is stringy. The sauce is a perfect tomato sauce, on the verge of being almost sweet but not quite there. And of course, the meatball. I've never had a better meatball. Perfect texture. Just the right flavor to make this sandwich an A+ in my book! I couldn't tell you whether this place is all about homemaking their food or how the other menu items are, but this sub is good enough alone to convince me that Americana Pizza deserves 5 stars. Clearly the locals love the place, too, since both times I've been here it's been packed to the brim with guys on their lunch hours.

Great small town feel. Nice little mom and pop place, pizza and the italian grinders are some good eating.

The subs are a nice change, but equally as good as the pizza.

There is no 'meat taste' at all so get in here and give these a try. I had a feeling I would love it and I did. It's a large yet cozy venue with the number 5 featured prominently in assorted art as well as on the tables. The building is historic, lots of wood, brick and brass railings plus a stunning Victorian bar back. We ate at the bar which was very comfortable. Little sliding wooden trays to make it convenient for eating, then just move them out of the way when you're done. They have 10 or so craft beers on tap and a full bar. We had the opportunity to sample a couple brews and we both enjoyed our beer choices and the food. Prices were fair, and tax is included in the menu price. I really want to shout out our bartender/server. Didn't get her name but she had round glasses with eyeglass chain attached and was on the shorter side. She was very customer focused, answering all our first-timer questions, attentive, appropriately conversational, and definitely on the ball as she was handling tables too. Top notch service. About those railings: unless there's a special back entrance, the venue may not be wheelchair accessible. There are two or three steps at the entrance, and if you want the bar instead of booth or table, another three or four. Both have sturdy solid handrails. I do not fault them for this; probably the historic building is exempt, but just wanted to note it for anyone needing that info. All in all a five star experience and I hope to return soon.

Character-rich atmosphere with a brick arch inside and a beautiful historic back bar. I'm a bourbon drinker, so didn't try the beer, but was very happy with my Old Fashioned. My e-star burger with mushrooms, Swiss, onions and pickled cabbage was delicious, and the serving of fries was extremely generous. A great spot for dinner with friends.

There were no customers but it was a bit in-between meal times. I had to speak in an extra loud voice to be heard by the woman behind the counter. It really was noisy for some reason, perhaps the air conditioning. I ordered an 11 inch original sub and an iced tea, with a coupon for the sub for $5.99. Drinks seem expensive, but they come with refills, and she brought 3 to the table before I left the building. I was surprised to find that tables hadn't been cleaned. I know that an empty dining room doesn't mean that they have no business. It just looks a bit undone when tables haven't been cleaned. The sandwich was ready quickly and the tea had been at my table for a while. The first thing I noticed was how sloppily the sandwich had been assembled. Some of the meat was about to fall out but the cheese was holding it together. It was good, but I always wonder about the reason for the pizza sauce. Is it for the extra zing or is it to hide the ingredients? I'll go with the extra zing for now. Of course, when a sandwich is messy, I assume that it will taste even better and it didn't disappoint. It was tasty and messy and I needed multiple napkins. I could say that the meal was really expensive, but the sub was big with lots of bread, which was toasty/crispy in a good way. I'd say half of it is enough for most people at a sitting. So, as two meals or splitting it with a second person, it's not a bad deal. As I usually say, the coupon helps at Pizza King.
