Property lines up along a scenic lake with a foot bridge to get to the boathouse. Plenty of grey, black, and orange/red squirrels, chipmunks, and seven deer roam the grounds. We saw the deer at sunrise and dusk. Open the curtain to the siding glass door and the deer look right at you. *Photo op I tell you. The kitchen is stocked rather well with most cooking and serving items you need for meals inside. Patio has a small grill. Our two bedroom two bathroom unit has one bathroom on each level. That means no master bathroom. We made it work for us for the time we were here. One thing we didn't like is there wasn't any extra boxes of tissues. We came for Spring Break and we have seasonal allergies. Thankfully we didn't run out of tissues. There was plenty of towels and tp, oh and blankets. Decorated in mountain cabin and bear motifs. Sturdy (and clean) chairs, couches and rocking chairs. Plenty of places to sit and read. Master bedroom has a sliding glass door that leads to a private balcony. Lower level sliding glass door leads to a patio that's part of the common area. And deer hang around here. Located an hour or more from several ski resorts in both WI and upper peninsula MI. Keweenaw peninsula is a great day trip from here.

We arrived just before 4 PM on Saturday (before the office closed) but their clocks must be fast versus our cell phones. We dropped off our paperwork and finally saw someone the day we checked out. The beds were not uncomfortable but we didn't sleep well. Overall, everything was fine but not great.

The complimentary breakfest consisted of milk cartons, dry cereal, packaged donuts and uncrustables. I think had the noise level been better our stay would have been different. Cute place overall.

Each time marked improvements from the last visit…read more The owner who has checked me in each time I visit is quite friendly and informative on things to do and the best restaurants in the area. My room this time had new furniture including the bed. I was also impressed with the pillows that were bigger than pillows in other Northwoods motels and cabins I've been to. While the bathroom as been remodeled the shower itself was a bit old. Almost like old concrete. The bathroom I had last time had a new shower. Seems the owner is working though improvements unit by unit. He was painting one unit on my last visit. I wasn't sure to give four or five stars because of the shower being old but many rooms seem complete and the owner has such passion for every inch of the place that I went with five.

That TV WAS working...If 1 works, they all should! We had requested a room in the 2nd bldg where you pull right up to your room. The front desk said they were booked over there...but in the morning it was empty...only 2 cars were parked over there. FULL? really. We were not happy at all!

This is a family run resort, and they are super friendly and accommodating. Just a short drive to town (Boulder Junction and Minaqua). Everyone at the resort knew them and all the staff would finish their shifts and hang out with the guests. I can honestly say that I haven't been more comfortable at a resort in a long time. The cabins are fantastic. The lodge is a place where you can hang out all day and night and still be comfortable. Plenty of places to play on land and an entire lake to your disposal. They'll bring in tennis pros, water skiing pros, fishing pros, you name it. They'll make you anything that you want to eat--just thinking, is this place heaven? If you want a fun getaway with the family and/or friends, think about this place, but make sure to book in advance. Families come back here year after year and it might be tough to try and get in.
