It's that kind of place for me, my family and my friends. The hosts Steve and Jill are top-notch. They treat you like family and are always working to ensure our stay is as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. The lodge is special, filled with history, art, fish and relics of the north woods. It truly is a treat to hang out at the bar enjoying the view of the beautiful lake the property sits on. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the amenities are fantastic. The lake is incredible, it rarely has any boating activity. The water is clear and clean for swimming, kayaking and fishing. The fishing in this lake is absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough good things about staying here and I look forward to getting back out there in the Spring. It's going to be a long winter!!

We…read morewere referred to Crystal Bell by a friend who said the B&B is charming and the owners are wonderful, even that didn't prepare us for the amazing experience we had at Crystal Bell. Donna and Mike renovated the entire house and put their personal touches in the most thoughtful ways. The place is meticulously cleaned, decorated, and organized. We were greeted with home made cookies and offered wide range of delicious drinks by Donna, followed by a tour of the house when Donna and Mike shared with us the history of the house, it immediately impressed my husband and I how much they love to host their guests and how much they love the place. They have VERY high standards for themselves on the experience they want their guests to have. They have everything you could ever need on a trip ready for you where/when you need it, Mike even offered me a leg pillow! The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. The next morning, our breakfast was egg ham croissants, rhubarb shortcakes and grapefruits, all sorts of beverages options, and to top it off, each of us were given a piece of freshly baked pastry for our long drive back to Chicago. I use Yelp frequently but rarely wrote reviews. I feel compelled to write about Donna and Mike and their lovely B&B. Highly recommend this place for a home away from home, whether for a girlfriend weekend getaway, family reunions and other group functions, they truly embody MidWest warmth and hospitality!

LaRose Wellness Retreat, hosted by Cheryl LaRose, passed both the safety and comfort test with flying colors! Cheryl was genuinely kind, and shared her attention equally amongst all the couples staying that weekend. Yay for human equality! Obviously, Cheryl is a wonderful hostess -- just a genuine human being! Staying with her really did feel like being at home (if home was on a beautiful lake with kayaks, a hot tub, and organic chocolate chip cookies available at all times). Our room had the touch of an interior designer. The decor is a harmonious blend of Scandinavian Modernity (a nod to the Scandinavian history in the area) with Old Country Charm. Her place is located close to downtown L'anse. You definitely can run around visiting all the attractions (waterfalls, hiking trails, Copper Harbor) or you can eat your weight in fresh fish and custard at all the mom n' pop restaurants. Your last option is to bring a book and alternate between reading in the hammock overlooking Lake Superior and reading in the hot tub like I did. Breakfast was a plethora of options (granola, strawberries/blueberries/mango and more fruit, coffee, boiled eggs, bread and jam, gluten free options, cold cereal fixings, and homemade peanut butter zucchini muffins to name a few). Her dog, Peaches, is a lover! No lint roller needed as she doesn't shed, and she smells just like an indoor dog should...odorless! Support Cheryl -- you will enjoy your stay. Peace and Love!
