We just spent a week at Maplewood Resort and had a fantastic time with family and friends. They…read morehave a lot of cabins and homes available to rent. Fishing was very good this week. Caught fish on every trip on the lake! Crappie, Bluegill, Perch and Bass is what we fish for. The cabins/homes are very clean, and Donna and Andy are extremely friendly and attentive to whatever we needed. Real nice sand beach swimming area. Free WiFi in the cabins/homes. Had canoes, paddle boat and kayaks for use. Cute little activity room available with a foosball table and some pinball machines. We'd recommend you check them out! It was our first trip there and have already booked for 2020!

Estrold was exactly the spot my family needed for a little getaway. Located on Little St. Germain,…read morewe loved spending time at the beach and using the kayaks on site to explore the lake. My two small children (2 and 4) enjoyed hunting for gnomes, playing on the playground, and swimming on the "lily pad" mats. The grown ups enjoyed the peaceful days, the wonderful swing at the top of the hill overlooking the water, and watching other guests arrive with their daily catch of fish. Hosts Travis and Amanda provided enough opportunities to create new friendships through rock painting, movie night, potluck, s'mores roast, and fishing derby. We felt comfortable joining in or opting to relax on our own. They were very accommodating and just a phone call/text away if we needed anything. I gave the resort 4 stars because there is some room for improvement on the resort. Repairing the swing set (broken monkey bars, adding fresh sand to the sandbox), making sure the paddle boat and beach chairs are in good shape would be a few of the things I would like to see. I know there is a staffing shortage at many places right now, so t's understandable.

Tacky, tacky, tacky. We stayed in the marsh cottage. What could be a cute cabin - isn't. From the…read moredrive up to the cabin one immediately notices decline. The view of the storage or tool shed is off putting but the shed is disclosed in the write up. The cottage needs a makeover. Rotted wood on the outside and a paint job is needed. The cottage smells musty, the furniture is too big for the size of the living room (keep the futon. Lose the recliner) the refrigerator should at least be painted so all the dings and scratches don't show. Add a cutting board. Fix the drawers so they don't almost fall out when opened. The dish towel is old and discolored and only one. The sheets for the sagging bed are both low end. Get a good quality mattress and sheets forcrying out loud. There is no bedding for the futon. Nor does someone from out of state need to bring such items. Maybe put a screen around the water heater. Make the vent pipe above the water heater more attractive by painting (maybe decal with moose or fish) and cover the end with exposed insulation. Repair the wood rot by shower. Replace sagging ceiling in bedroom.

I'm sorry to have read the other reviews that were negative. I had the exact opposite experience…read more Jay was a really great guy--he was very accessible and helpful. His family was there for the summer to help out, and they were so kind and friendly--very personable. This is a family-operated cabin "campsite" that is perfect for a great blend of comfort and "roughing it." The amenities are basicallly this: beds/bunks to sack out it, gorgeous lakes to fish in, a boat that comes with the cabin rental (motor not included), TV, community fire pit, full kitchen, and bathrooms :) nothing fancy like indoor pools or high-speed internet--it's a great place to get out and just enjoy pure nature! I feel so refreshed after staying here...ahhh... There are paddle boats and skis to use. My dog was welcome; in fact, there were a few camp dogs that belonged to the family--all very friendly and trained. The cabins are all set up close to each other, far enough to be private, but close enough to feel like a friendly community. Be prepared to get to know the other guests--it seems like those who go to Jay's are all super-friendly people who love and respect nature. Word of advice: take your own towels for showering and cleaning, and (if you go in the summer) take bug spray and sunscreen! The office sells ice and s'mores fixings, bug spray and sunscreen, and fish bait. They also have TONS of board games to borrow while you stay. *We stayed in cabin 9.

Great little resort, we had a blast there. Fun for kids, great for fishing, reasonably priced boat…read morerentals and beautiful surroundings. Be sure to bring towels, toiletries and toilet paper. Laundry room onsite, as well as a sauna. Plenty of things to do nearby, as well, but we were perfectly content staying at the resort all week. Did our sightseeing by boat or kayaking. The resort owners were great, too, very nice people. ***UPDATE:*** One of resort owners, Becky, called my brother the evening after we left. She demanded a cleaning fee, because the place was a mess. Took them 2 whole hours to clean a 3 story cabin. I was among the last to leave, and know what the place looked like. All dishes were done, kitchen was cleaned up and swept. The way Becky put it, one would think we'd staged a food fight in there on the final morning. We left a few unopened packaged food items, and some produce on the kitchen table, as they wouldn't fit in the car. And, I forgot to dispose of a carton of eggs and some opened milk that was left in the fridge....as well as a six pack of beer. In any case, now I have a bad taste in my mouth. Seems like a money grabbing ploy to me. Luckily there are many other places to stay on the Cisco Chain, because we loved the area
