One of my favorite cafés in Portland. I feel like the quality of the drinks differ between locations, but this location always makes great drinks. I live a couple of blocks away, and look forward to popping in for a drink often. I get an oat milk latte. They consistently steam their oat milk well - it's always got its natural sweetness in tact. Baristas are friendly, and they're really considerate about COVID protocol. They allow one family in at a time, to order and wait for their drinks. And you can order in advance via the app, which is great! read more

Great coffee shop in the Alberta neighborhood. The interior feels very homey, with a beautiful mid century modern decor, an impressive caffeine molecule chandelier and a super cool roaster! The rolling garage door is super nice in summertime. If you like interior design, you should check this place out, the owners really did an amazing job. The mezzanine has a lot of seating with plugs everywhere. Did not try the coffee, but the jasmine matcha was excellent. read more

Laptop crew upstairs, chatting downstairs. Nice decaf, good pastries, and a lot of attention to furnishings. The prime people-watching tables out front were packed, but when we visited there was space among the working crew upstairs. Long community tables work pretty well for several people, and adapt to fluctuating crowds better than many small tables. Didn't see any large comfy chairs, but plenty of spare industrial ones. read more

Super friendly baristas, cool looking place, good coffee, chairs a plenty without feeling crowded. Sounds like a perfect coffee spot, eh? Not much else you could ask for? Well, turns out, there is one more thing that works out greatly here. It's dog friendly! This is particularly awesome as Tin Shed is just next door. Just keep your pooch on the first floor, and well behaved of course, and the friendly baristas will welcome you on in for coffee. All me and my date got were two regular coffees. We stayed for about 30 minutes just chatting and were not rushed at all. The place maintained about 75% fullness on that Sunday morning. I do have to dock a star for Roman Candle pastries. Come on...no one likes those. Get your baked goods from Bakeshop or someone better. If OHSU coffee shops sell their baked goods, you know every other coffee shop should be able to do better. read more

Following a late lunch at Pine State Biscuits, I was looking for a place to park my laptop for the afternoon and selected nearby Case Study Coffee almost solely due to the Yelp-approved caffeine molecule chandelier. I picked up a pourover and placed myself on the upstairs balcony. Had the weather been slightly warmer, an afternoon outside would have been not unkind. I've never had hot chocolate that tasted so yummy!!! It comes with a delicious homemade toasted marshmallow that melts oh so perfectly into the drink. This is the first time I've had a homemade marshmallow also, and I think it's converted me into only consuming those little pillows of sugar fluff that's been made at home. The barista who took our order was very friendly and even chatted with my boyfriend about the drink that he ordered. I'm not from portland, but when I return, this will be the spot i'd like to go to when I want hot chocolate. read more

We used to love going in here for our morning coffee but things have changed over time. Something hasn't felt right. The last time we went in here something felt off. Then we realized that what was getting to us was the fact that none of the employees here ever smiled. Yes, being a barista is cool ;) but it's cooler when you smile. We stumbled upon this coffee house while walking on Alberta and loved what we discovered. Like many places in the rose city this place takes its coffee seriously and they do a wonderful job at it. They make coffee with precision and attention t detail, which gives it the wonderful taste that we have enjoyed a lot. I tried something new today, the aged bourbon caramel flavor that they have. I have a sweet tooth and like good coffee. This flavor hit both the things in a unique way. I will definitely go back for it. They also have tasty sweet snacks.
