One cool thing is every once in awhile the lady, I assume Mrs. Lee, occasionally even throws things in for free, or rounds down the price. I have also asked her for advice last fall for squash. One time I was buying a 5lb bag of greens and she noticed it was bad, and she said "No no!" and went and got a different bag for me. When the man, I assume Mr. Lee checks me out, which is the usual, I have started signing my name on the receipt with a smiley face at the end, and sometimes he looks at it and smiles too. I am thankful for this place.

Revisiting it always feels special. The market looks small from the outside, but don't be fooled--it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty to browse. The parking lot has limited spots so be prepared to circle or wait briefly. We stopped in just to browse and do some spontaneous shopping, and of course left with more than planned. I was thrilled to find a DIY taho kit (includes sago and arnibal) and grabbed two right away. A tub of Magnolia ube ice cream and banana turons were calling my husband's name, so those came back to the hotel with us too. If we hadn't already eaten, we would've grabbed lunch there--the food smelled so inviting. The cashier was especially lovely--friendly, chatty, and engaging with everyone in line. That kind of warm customer service is refreshing and definitely deserves recognition. We left fully content, happy to revisit a familiar place and score a few fun impulse finds. Fou Lee Market continues to be a comforting, nostalgic stop that never disappoints. Update: The banana turon was really good. Super crunchy exterior with sugar that hardened into a crisp shell instead of turning gooey. Inside was a whole banana, not mushy or overcooked or dry, which gave it great texture. Simple, well-made, and very satisfying.

We almost never have this issue when buying directly from farmers' markets, so I'm convinced there's something wrong with how they store and handle their produce. Other reviews mention the same thing. They also replaced locally grown cilantro with cilantro grown in Mexico, without any note or explanation. Getting fresh, locally sourced food is literally the only reason we order from them. We had an order that was supposed to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning (that's what it said on their newsletter), but it arrived on Friday instead. When we contacted customer service, they gave defensive response that three minutes after we placed the order, the system updated to the "correct" delivery date, even though their newsletter said they don't deliver on that date. The response didn't actually address the lack of clarity about the delivery date. They even once included a slip of paper with someone else's name, phone number, and address. We're done with this place.

It's a little high-end with all the bright lights and neatly placed grocery items but looks smaller from the inside. To be honest, I only came here to try The Cookie, which was something my friend recommended for me for the size and taste of their large cookies. We decided to quickly drop by here specifically for that, and I grabbed myself a chocolate chip cookie with nuts. Server behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, especially when I asked for another bag to keep the warm cookie fresh. For this cookie, you gotta split it between two days, or among more than that if you're health-conscious. There's so much sugary taste yet you never really get tired of eating it. The chocolate chips and the nuts complemented each other while also taking away some of the taste that the excess sugar in the cookie otherwise has. Cookie also melted in my mouth so well that I was tempted to ask my friend to drive back for another.

Come here to assemble all your meals without having to prep ingredients or clean up after yourself. Dream Dinners offers a monthly menu that you can order online, on phone, or in person from. Reservations must be made in advance, and they are only open select days of the week. The actual experience: if it's your first time- visiting their website and picking your meals from the monthly menu is easiest. From there you can reserve your date to assemble in store. When you arrive the days of, a friendly staffer meets you, provides you with your list of prechosen meals and instructions, and you are set free to start assembling. There is a station for each meal with its own instructions and prepped ingredients. You follow your preprinted assembly cards to each station, follow the instructions, put your meal in a cold holding fridge, and move on to your next meal. Continue till you are finished. So simple! I was able to assemble 25 premise dinners in 2 hours. That's a whole month of dinners for the family...in just 2 hours! (Mic drop) The cost comparison: nothing will ever financially beat the good ol'fashion meal prep - but all your own ingredients, prep yourself. However, I had to start looking at my work, life, chore harmony and concluded I was wasting way too much time doing chores- than enjoying my family. So- the cost per serving breaks down to anywhere from $5-7. More expensive than old fashion meal prep- but less money per serving in my experience than healthy take out food. Commitment: the Dream Dinners website usually offers a 1st time buyer experience- you can purchase 6 servings from their menu- as compared to the normal 36 serving commitment. This way you can experience their assembly process, and assess if you/the family would eat their food.
