McPhersons Fruit & Produce on Beacon Hill
    Lady F.

I've been away from Seattle the past 6 years living in Vegas. There is nothing to compare to McPhersons in Vegas. Upon my return to Seattle this past week, one of the first places I went to was McPhersons. My daughter I picked out a variety of fruit, melons, veggies and salads. Everything was fresh and yummy. There is nothing better than fresh fruits and veggies. The place looks the same where you can easily find what you need along with some novelty items. Service was great and we were in and out in no time...I suppose that was due to us knowing what we wanted to get, the the check out was easy and quick I highly recommend McPhersons for your Fruit and Vegetables needs. They are worth checking out. Plus I believe in supporting local businesses. LadyFlava of LadyFlavaNews

A hidden gem in Georgetown. This is hands-down my favorite produce market in the city. Bins of fresh produce at very reasonable prices. A wide selection of apples, peppers, root veggies, pretty much anything you could want. You'll find some homemade items as well as the traditional assortment of sauces, dried beans, and Oaxaca cheese. Pro-tip: Lookup. The shelf space over the veggie bins has a variety of sauces and Mexican-style grocery items. There's also a case of Mexican conchas, sweet morning buns. A good selection, the coconut ones.

Great variety of fresh and affordable produce! Often times, I find that prices here are lower than other markets in the area without any compromise to the quality. Parking can be tricky but don't let that drive you away! It's definitely well worth it!

I loved this place. I thought being half outdoors it would be safer than a grocery store for COVID. I showed up and immediately notice two employees with masks under their chins (faces fully exposed) yelling, yes yelling! to other employees across the store. Where do you think those large droplets are going? Straight onto the produce or into the eyes/noses/mouths of customers walking around the store. Remember, wearing a cloth mask is only effective when others are wearing masks. I observed two other employees with masks below their noses. Blatant disregard for the health of fellow employees, customers, and the community. Wildest thing is they even have signs saying they'll refuse service to people not wearing a mask. The irony! I'd avoid this place if you don't want to be exposed to COVID - especially vulnerable people. I'm sure there are safer fresh produce stands to shop at. Edit: I reported them to Public Health - Seattle & King County, who told me to also report it to WA Dept of Health. They assured me that they will investigate.

I sincerely love this place. This is a year-round, open-air market that offers a variety of produce and other sundries. My favorite part about this place is the left corner, where they advertise produce that's on markdown or clearance. This is where the value is! I've come here time and time again and scored on organic & local fruits and vegetables that are at the peak of ripeness (when they're the best for you!) If I can't use it right away, I just chop whatever it is up and put it in the freezer to use at a later time. This place is rather small, however, so you won't find the craziest of variety (go buy your dragonfruit elsewhere!) but it's not bad! This is the only place where I am able to buy a small box of ripe bananas for $.99! Aside from that, they also stock spices, cheeses, and ethnic non-perishables like sesame oil and Tapatío.

Charged me double for the peppers, instead of weighing them separately...

I have been going to Macpherson's for years now, but recently I have been having bad experiences there. The last couple times I have been overcharged by a few dollars because the cashier did not either weight the item properly or typed in the wrong item number. Today the cashier didn't even bother to bag my produce, just stood there doing nothing. If service like this continues I will no longer be shopping there.... #macphersonsfruitandproduce

Revisiting it always feels special. The market looks small from the outside, but don't be fooled--it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty to browse. The parking lot has limited spots so be prepared to circle or wait briefly. We stopped in just to browse and do some spontaneous shopping, and of course left with more than planned. I was thrilled to find a DIY taho kit (includes sago and arnibal) and grabbed two right away. A tub of Magnolia ube ice cream and banana turons were calling my husband's name, so those came back to the hotel with us too. If we hadn't already eaten, we would've grabbed lunch there--the food smelled so inviting. The cashier was especially lovely--friendly, chatty, and engaging with everyone in line. That kind of warm customer service is refreshing and definitely deserves recognition. We left fully content, happy to revisit a familiar place and score a few fun impulse finds. Fou Lee Market continues to be a comforting, nostalgic stop that never disappoints. Update: The banana turon was really good. Super crunchy exterior with sugar that hardened into a crisp shell instead of turning gooey. Inside was a whole banana, not mushy or overcooked or dry, which gave it great texture. Simple, well-made, and very satisfying.

We almost never have this issue when buying directly from farmers' markets, so I'm convinced there's something wrong with how they store and handle their produce. Other reviews mention the same thing. They also replaced locally grown cilantro with cilantro grown in Mexico, without any note or explanation. Getting fresh, locally sourced food is literally the only reason we order from them. We had an order that was supposed to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning (that's what it said on their newsletter), but it arrived on Friday instead. When we contacted customer service, they gave defensive response that three minutes after we placed the order, the system updated to the "correct" delivery date, even though their newsletter said they don't deliver on that date. The response didn't actually address the lack of clarity about the delivery date. They even once included a slip of paper with someone else's name, phone number, and address. We're done with this place.

I used to shop at Seattle Supermarket out of pure convenience, but their customer service and…read morerespect for patrons are severely lacking. I've had two highly disappointing incidents recently that made me decide to never return. First was a safety issue. I reached for fresh mushrooms on what looked like a newly installed metal shelf. The edge was incredibly sharp and sliced my finger, causing it to bleed. I approached a young female supervisor/manager at the front (possibly named Ema) not to complain, but to warn them so other customers wouldn't get hurt. Her only response was an indifferent 'Oh.' No apology, no offer of a band-aid or basic first aid. Basic human decency was completely missing. Second was a billing issue. Last week, I bought a bunch of bananas and was double-charged. I didn't notice the receipt until I got home, and since it was only $5.33, I didn't make a special trip back immediately. When I returned a week later and politely brought it up, a cashier called over that same supervisor (Ema). She bluntly refused to help, saying, 'You waited a week, we can't do anything.' I pointed out the mathematical improbability of two separate bunches of bananas weighing the exact same amount down to the cent ($5.33) to prove it was a double-scan error. Her dismissive reply was 'sometimes that happens.' I let it go because I didn't want to argue over a few dollars ('not a big deal' financially), but her defensive attitude made me feel like she suspected I was trying to scam the store over $5. It's not about the money; it's about the principle, common sense, and how you treat your customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
