So disappointed. Since the Mcphersons family sold it there have been changes and they are not for the better. The days of sale prices are gone. They no longer have prices on their street signs, and I know why. We went a few days ago to get some last minute fruits and veggies. $2.99 for celery. Down the street at Seattle Market it was $1.99, and at WinCo $1.29 $2.29 for a medium avocado. 89 cents at QFC a mile away. $3.49 for brussel sprouts. $1.99 at WinCo. The days of never waiting in line behind 1 or 2 people are also gone. As much as it would be nice to support local businesses, paying at least $10 more to buy 3 items is not not worth it. 2 stars because the fruits and veggies are fresh. read more

I've been away from Seattle the past 6 years living in Vegas. There is nothing to compare to McPhersons in Vegas. Upon my return to Seattle this past week, one of the first places I went to was McPhersons. My daughter I picked out a variety of fruit, melons, veggies and salads. Everything was fresh and yummy. There is nothing better than fresh fruits and veggies. The place looks the same where you can easily find what you need along with some novelty items. Service was great and we were in and out in no time...I suppose that was due to us knowing what we wanted to get, the the check out was easy and quick I highly recommend McPhersons for your Fruit and Vegetables needs. A hidden gem in Georgetown. This is hands-down my favorite produce market in the city. Bins of fresh produce at very reasonable prices. A wide selection of apples, peppers, root veggies, pretty much anything you could want. You'll find some homemade items as well as the traditional assortment of sauces, dried beans, and Oaxaca cheese. Pro-tip: Lookup. The shelf space over the veggie bins has a variety of sauces and Mexican-style grocery items. There's also a case of Mexican conchas, sweet morning buns. Great produce! Loads of fresh fruits and veggies, along with shelves of items you didn't know you needed until you saw it. I especially like the discounted produce that is in the back, perfect if you're making a vegetable soup on the same day. Prices seem very reasonable and what we got was gorgeous. This place used to be my favorite place in this neighborhood and I went there every week to get my veggies because they are fresh and has good price. Unfortunately in the past couple years it has changed. Many of their prices have increased at least 30-50%! Majority of them are more expensive their QFC and Safeway. I understand there is inflation, but the quality of the produces are the most shocking part!! They are not good at all! Why would I pay extra for produces that are already at the end of their shelf life? After a year we went back to give it a second chance, but we were disappointed again. I gave it two stars because the staffs are still a group of nice people. If the owner sees this post, please bring back the MacPherson's that we used to know! read more

I've been coming here for over 30 years and I love that they keep an eye out on quality. For items that are not perfect, have bruises, or need to be eaten fairly quickly before it spoils, they a have a section of discounted produce at really great prices. Ive gotten bags of apples, 5# bags of onions, 4-5 heads of lettuce, zuccini, etc for under $1.50 each on the discount table. One time my friend and I bought a box of 48 cobs of corn for a $1.50... we had fun distributing them to others since we could not eat that many on our own... another week it was boxes of bananas... it is kind of fun to see what deals may be had the week you are there. Shopping locally, supporting small businesses, quick service, and no crowds or lines here for well priced produce is the reason I keep coming back. read more

The quality of the produce here is excellent. It is significantly better than any of the nearby markets, including PCC or the Metropolitan Market in Mercer Island. It is not only fresh but it does not start to rot the second you get it home. And the prices are very reasonable -- much cheaper than the local markets. read more

I sincerely love this place. This is a year-round, open-air market that offers a variety of produce and other sundries. My favorite part about this place is the left corner, where they advertise produce that's on markdown or clearance. This is where the value is! I've come here time and time again and scored on organic & local fruits and vegetables that are at the peak of ripeness (when they're the best for you!) If I can't use it right away, I just chop whatever it is up and put it in the freezer to use at a later time. This place is rather small, however, so you won't find the craziest of variety (go buy your dragonfruit elsewhere!) but it's not bad! This is the only place where I am able to buy a small box of ripe bananas for $.99! I loved this place. I thought being half outdoors it would be safer than a grocery store for COVID. I showed up and immediately notice two employees with masks under their chins (faces fully exposed) yelling, yes yelling! to other employees across the store. Where do you think those large droplets are going? Straight onto the produce or into the eyes/noses/mouths of customers walking around the store. Remember, wearing a cloth mask is only effective when others are wearing masks. I observed two other employees with masks below their noses. Blatant disregard for the health of fellow employees, customers, and the community. Wildest thing is they even have signs saying they'll refuse service to people not wearing a mask. The irony! I'd avoid this place if you don't want to be exposed to COVID - especially vulnerable people. I'm sure there are safer fresh produce stands to shop at. Edit: I reported them to Public Health - Seattle & King County, who told me to also report it to WA Dept of Health. They assured me that they will investigate. read more

Cheapest prices in Seattle, for the vast majority. Don't forget to see the bargain bin uphill near the Columbian Way side. I often end up w/ a bag of produce for about $20. Don't overbuy, or you may end up with some for the compost. I just wish this was closer to my house, given the West Seattle Bridge. MacPherson's is a mandatory stop if I'm in the area. While the parking lot is a little hazardous with crazy drivers, you'll be rewarded with a vast selection of produce at better than fair prices. Young kid at the register swiped the card (the card reader was hidden by the wall so I could not see what he did with it). The last couple times I have been overcharged by a few dollars because the cashier did not either weight the item properly or typed in the wrong item number. Fresh fruit and produce for 1/3 or 1/4th of the price!! I love this place. Who doesn't! If you live in Seattle area ( not east side), you've probably been here at least once. Its in Beacon hill area but its not that far out. Love~ fresh fruits and produce. They have everything!! Kale, cabbages, peppers!! They don't charge you any overhead cost because you see, you pick and you buy here. There's no strolling around with carts. Giants bins outside, smaller ones inside. Fruits , veggies, dried peppers, spices, a small area of can stuffs and even frozen stuffs. I once got a fresh caught squids from Demoines! The lady at the check out was like only one??! I went and got two more. They were less than $4 for one pack! And local! How cool. Best things for me to buy from here~ Kale, cantaloupes, berries, beets, lettuce! Yummm! They have a small parking lot outside. It is small! But it works. Park, come in, get a bag/cart full of stuffs and walk out here with $20-$30 bill! Yea! I'm a fan! read more

I feel horrible. 15 years of coming here and I've never written a review. In the three hundred+ times I've been here, I've maybe spent $200.00. Though this figure has not been certified by the grocery bill census people, it's probably pretty close. Discount produce, people. Don't knock it until you get hospitalized. Some local producers sell direct to MacPherson's but there is also a lot of overflow produce that comes from bigger store chains. This means that on any given day, I can get organic/not-organic Honey Crisp apples (my fave), Japanese apple pears in Fall, cilantro, potatoes, eggplant, fennel, green beans, etc. I love it when they drop down those giant flats of blueberries, strawberries, persimmons for $10! If you don't own one, I would highly recommend owning a vacuum-sealer, if you decide you like shopping here. You'll save even more money, yo. I own a few reptiles, and other critters--most legal. I'm known as the Lizard Lady to my friends. This place has allowed me to own many reptiles for years because the food is SO CHEAP here. Nope, I don't feed my little pieces of luggage those pet store pellets, only fresh food for them! 7 full bags of fruits, veggies, and herbs run about $25. Believe the hype! See these prices for yourself! Speediest service you've ever seen too. My only rec is to use the food - fast. Within 3-4 days for most of the produce. Parking is at your own risk. This place exceeds the quotient for parking atrocities allowable, but with the money you save shopping, you could ping-pong your way in/out of the lot, hitting every car and it would STILL be financially worthwhile. read more

I love MacPherson's! This is my favorite fruit stand in this area. Cheap, fresh produce of all sorts. Their homemade pico de gallo is simple and delicious. They also have an assortment of chilis, peppers, and shredded cheese for taco night! Some of their produce is from Yakima and the rest of central Washington. Bonus! Fresh goodness here, with some bargains along the way. Depending on the season, there's always some goodness to be had here. Now? Pumpkins and squashes. I admit the small parking lot is always packed and it can take some patience to navigate around in there. But, it's a small inconvenience when you think about it or just break down and park on the street. It's good exercise for you to pack up your things and huffle on down the street to your vehicle anyways. read more

How long's MacPherson's been at this old gas station spot? Since like 1984 or something? Well I've been shopping here for about just as long. Long time anyway, and still one of the cheapest stands to buy produce and obscure ethnic spices, herbs, and juices in the city. May not be creme de la creme like what's in the aisles of Metropolitan Market, Whole Foods, or QFC but it's a hell of a lot cheaper. In the "New Economy" I'm sure we'll do just fine with a couple spots on our bananas and avocados. Even when I stop for just one item I still walk the bins gawking at the mundane and bizarre, my mind both reeling with future creative cooking ideas and wondering what the hell people do with some of that stuff. If you're looking for Hispanic spices, juices, peppers, etc. they have a plethora. PS: They're open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and they don't take checks. read more

The mgr SNEEZED repeatedly all over the front of the store without a mask, without covering his face with an elbow. We witnessed him sneeze at least 3 times yesterday with spray flying several feet. He then ran into the office after customers yelled about it. SCARY AS HELL & DANGEROUS. The public is at risk. The mgr has not worn a mask the 3x we have been there since the virus mask recommendations began. The staff usually wears mask but yesterday there were at least 2 other delivery driver / workers in the store w/o masks. The mgr works with the public every day and can both be vulnerable to infection or be a spreader. So many vulnerable seniors and POC shop at MacPhersons. We have been fans for years but will never return. We have contacted the health dept and urge employee testing of the store. read more

Who doesn't love a bargain? Well, I was raised by a master bargain-hunter (Thanks Mom!) and I know a bargain when I see one. All of the produce at MacPherson's is a steal (heads of cabbage for how much? Cabbage soup this weekend!), but if you want the best deals, hang a left (the far end away from the registers) and check out the bargain table. Yes, these are the items on their way out - like a big bag of completely ripe bananas that you'd better use quickly or plan on some banana bread - for about $1. Or, a large package of organic butter leaf lettuce for 49 cents. That's right, organic. 49 cents. Basically, everything is more or less under $2 in large quantities. If you're juicing, this is a great place to come buy in bulk. Or, if you're trying to get serious about adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet. I live downtown and I think a weekly trip to MacPherson's is worth the ride. The extra money I spend on gas I save on spending five times as much at the grocery store. What is it exactly with Beacon Hill and greengrocers? It seems you can't swing a cat in this 'hood without hitting a good one! MacPherson's Fruit and Produce is just down the street from the venerable Fou Lee market, yet there seems to be plenty of business for both! THE ROSES: McPF&P boasts a wide variety of fresh produce at prices lower - often much lower - than area supermarkets. Quality of the produce is quite good as well. The staff is pleasant and competent, and they have a small selection of non-produce groceries as well. Be sure to check out the case with Mexican pastries! THE THORNS: Located on the corner of Beacon and 15th Avenues, ingress and egress can be an issue. Parking lot is a bit small, but I haven't had a problem finding space yet. And then, it IS a greengrocers, so if you have meats and other grocery items on your list, you still have to go to Safeway or whatever. THE VERDICT: Excellent prices, good quality and service make it worth the extra time it takes as compared to simply doing all your shopping at the supermarket. There is so much variety here! Stopped by because I was in the area and needed to buy ingredients for a fruit salad. I bought 2 cases of strawberries for $5 and two cantaloupes. My hubby and I have been saving money and shopping here for years! We Love- Love the prices at MacPherson's and so will you. You will immediately notice the best prices you've seen in years on ALL peppers, fruits, fresh herbs and even on flower bouquets. (Fresh basil 99 cents, cilantro is usually like 39 cents) Sometimes, I think the produce can be a lil overripe, so it needs to be eaten right away. Don't overshop, shop fresh and shop often. We are lucky to walk here as parking is pure crazy! Tip: -Park across the street-- don't even try to park in that lil lot. -Bring your own cloth shopping bags as they use plastic. -Do try the steaming hot $2 'corn on a stick' from the vendor dude in the parking lot, order it spicy w/butter and you won't be disappointed. Like another reviewer, I, too, have been coming here for years. I did not check out my receipt (shame on me) but was shocked to pay $60 for a small box of vege and fruits, many I have had to toss. This has never happened to me before. I not only over-payed relative to dozens of past trips, but I this morning I composted two avocados and three nectarines - inedible! I am sad to say that this might be my last trip. Beware of old good reviews. My guess is that either they have new ownership or decided that they need to change their prices and/or suppliers. Businesses need to know that customers notice! I am so disappointed to have to find a new produce stand. read more

Very decent location about a 1/2 mile from the Jefferson Park! I believe it is American-owned supermarket. Basically has produce like vegetables and fruits. I do not think they have meat and no seafood for sure. Located in Beacon Hill area. read more

The prices are amazing, the produce is fresh and seasonal. They even put little notes on the signs about any quality issues, which is awesome. The parking lot, however, is something of a nightmare. Someone even hit my car last week trying to avoid another car in the lot. It's just consistently too cramped, too full, and too busy. Still totally worth it! read more

What a gem in Seattle. Another tribute to yelp and I would never have picked it unless I had seen the reviews. The produce is fresh and the quality is excellent. And the prices are reasonable. They have a large selection of fruit at the front and some of the most interesting peppers as well. The front has a nice selection of vegetables. It's not the place for customer service and samples like Sosios. But it is much more convenient. It's a bit of a distance from Capitol Hill. So it makes more sense to do a run that includes Mutual Fish, macphersons, bobs meets and Columbia city bakery :-) read more

I can't say enough about this produce stand! I don't live in Seattle anymore but I come back almost every time I'm in town. They have a great selection of well priced, local produce.
