Not sure why they all seem to be going the way of the Dodo bird (thanks Gramps), but for those of you that enjoy a clean cement stall, with brushes and wands that work and water pressure that is good, then I've got the spot for you. Relatively hidden, yet not too far from some main roads, rests the green face of Sparkle. Five big clean stalls, with working gear, the usual washing choices (soapy brush, anyone?) and lots of water pressure make washing a snap. Their parking lot is a little tight, not sure how something really big would get thru, but there are some nice drying spots behind the wash stalls for the rest of us. The overall space is clean and uncluttered and the neighbourhood offers lots of street parking. READER: (thinking) It seems like he really likes the place, I wonder why he only gave them four stars. I'll tell you why, they don't accept quarters. nope, just your plastic credit cards or paper money, no coins. no tokens even. We specifically checked with the clerk verifying the price of 3.91 and she said she our debit card would be 10 cents more a gallon if we used our debit card at the pump vs walking over to the kiosk(10 feet away). So my husband went to the kiosk and she proceeded to pump the gas. When we got the receipt, it showed the discrepancy in gas and price per gallon. We spoke to the manager on the phone and he REFUSED to make it right.

The vacuum cleaners are in really bad shape. In fact the whole establishment is in really bad shape. Not to mention it's not in the safest place in town. It's possible that you could go and get change leaving your car unattended and somebody can creep up and take something from you and you'll never know. They need a new establishment for washing cars in this town. We now go over to Hood River. Stopped by Apple City and the mirror was back on in less than 60 seconds...in that time, I learned a couple things as well. Anyway, he wouldn't let me pay or even tip after attaching the mirror. Not only would it have been a safety issue to have driven across central Oregon without the rear-view mirror...but it would have been super stressful for my wife as well. What a life-saver! He did a fine job fixing the large dent on my car's door, along with some small dents he found as well. He fixed the minor dents for a small additional charge.
