Best big box gym in Gresham for sure!

This is by far the worst health club in portland and Gresham!. I would never recommend to anyone. If i could give 5 negative stars, I would. Also, I learned the hard way and hopefully you won't have to that any health club that makes you sign and agree to a fee if you break the agreement is a scam and they are no different than a credit card company trying to get money for nothing. I thought that this was a locally owned, community type of health club, but it's run like a corporate franchise. They don't care about their clients or the cleanliness of the facility at all! They give one week to try it out. Unfortunately, the week I tried it out they were doing renovation and so i thought maybe that was the reason it was so dirty. They do have a salt water pool and a big window in front of the lounge area so that people can sit and drink wine while watching you or your children exercise. The hot tub is always filled with kids and people lounging, running, jumping, being loud. There is no hose in the steam room to at least rinse down the seats, and with all the germs and mrsa virus going around this really surprised me. The aerobics/yoga classes are taught in a freezing room with huge dust bunnies and hair all over the floor. It's absolutely disgusting. Nobody wipes the machines and if you want to wipe them all they have is a dirty old rag on top of a spray bottle. No thanks! I don't need to pay to get sick. It seemed like people would use the sauna for sweating with their gym clothes and sneakers on tracking in all the outside dirt, and they would sit in there with cell phones blaring music, how relaxing is that? All this place is is a meat market for high schoolers and old men. And I guess if you don't mind germs and loud, rude people everywhere..it's not so bad, so long as you don't mind being ripped off! I would suggest 24 hour or L..a fitness at least they are cheaper and come with less hassle if you want to terminate the membership read more

I have been coming here since I was 8 years old, moved out of the area after 18 but have been coming back regularly. Now I'm in my 30's, haven't been in a couple years. The change in staff, equipment, and tone of this gym is unbelievable. UNBELIEVABLE. I went here for so long, thought it was at least 4/5 stars. They had good kids camps, swimming pools were clean and available, classes were unpretentious and difficult, locker rooms were clean, equipment in good working order. They even hosted community events, including a play I was once a part of. Not to mention the dance studio run my Dagmar, who is still there teaching the kiddos. Staff were friendly and knew you by name, many of them were students who were interested in helping you meet goals. Now? I don't even know where to begin. No one knew who we were, even though my family has been going to this gym for OVER 20 YEARS. They had no idea about how to get us in, looked at me as if was scamming them, and generally made me feel as if I were a giant pain in their ass. To make matters way worse, their equipment was straight up broken. As in pieces of it were coming out of the machines, to the point where they were no longer useable. The locker rooms were filthy. Someone even came in to my shower (while I was showering!!!!) to spray nasty smelling cleaning agents. Basically, it couldn't have been worse. I don't have a recommendation for people about "to go or not to go," so much as total disgust in how low this place has sunk. Just have basic expectations, we'll see how they do. read more

Been at this gym for over 6months and we love it here ,they have so many kids and family activities to do as a family or on your own. I love it that this place can be used all year around outside swimming park and indoor swimming pool. My kids and I love it and would recommend it to any other families. read more

I am giving the Gresham location 5 stars because the AMAZING childcare they have there what's responsible for me being able to go to the gym at all. My daughter is slow to warm up and anxious in daycares but the girls here are so sweet to her, pick her up when she wants to be held, and are fully supportive of my efforts to peacefully transition her. I wish my regular day care had such sweet and loving staff. If you are a parent, especially of a child under 1 year then you know how meaningful it is to be able to leave your baby with someone you trust (and do a bit of self-care!) Sometimes I even go running outdoors and then still bring my daughter to the day care and just relax, drink a smoothie, hot tub, and shower. As far as the gym goes I love their huge group room and I love the fact that they have saunas and hot tubs in the locker room so I don't have to change in and out of a swimsuit. They also have a nice saltwater pool and huge hot tub in that area. Their weights area is huge. Some of the equipment is a bit dated but I don't really care about that. Basically the childcare is good enough that it makes up for any other flaws I might feel like mentioning. read more

I recently moved back to Gresham after a 13-year hiatus and re-joining Cascade was one of my first order's of business. For me, having a nice basketball courts was the key point since about half my visits are spent there. Beyond that, there is a good variety of equipment in the cardio and weight areas. It's a quality club with a lack of pretension. It's a family-friendly gym (the water park is a welcome addition since I last lived in Gresham). I personally don't have a need for the racket sport options or indoor swimming, but I these speak to the variety available at Cascade. It's good to be back. read more

Love this facility! Brand new men's locker room is awesome. The staff is excellent and the trainers awesome! Everything you need to workout be it the machines,Aqua Aerobics, cardio,Tennis,Racquetball,Pickle-ball,Basketball,Line dancing and a Outdoor water park for the kids in the summer are just many of the amenities. I see some people are complaining about the extra $15 a month for seniors who take the class's and Aqua Aroebics and use the pool. Other clubs are doing the same thing! Trump doing his finest to Squash healthcare that helps seniors! The Silver-Fit program doesn't get enough money from Medicare to pay for the instructors weekly salary. Just sayin! read more

I have been a member for a couple months now and have been very happy with the club! It's not anything fancy, but for the price of a membership you get quite a bit! The staff here are always very friendly and helpful! I am looking forward to the outdoor pool opening for my kids and I to visit in the summer. I like that they offer food and drinks at the pool area also. I do wish the price of childcare was included in the membership fee, since it can add up quickly, but otherwise I would recommend this club to anyone wanting a nice club for a decent price. read more

Beginning January 1, this business decided to charge people on the Silver and Fit program an additional $15 per month if they used the pool or took classes. They said the contract money from Silver and Fit wasn't enough. This program serves seniors. Many of us are on tight budgets. I left the Club for this reason. In my new club I am very happy. The water aerobics instructors actually know what they are doing. The pool is cool but not ice cold. The seniors in the classes are very friendly and welcoming. Cascade hires people who do not know anything about water aerobics and "trains" them. Some people have never had any other experience and don't know they are not getting the quality workout they deserve. I would not recommend this club to any senior and the $15 surcharge is not worth it. I hope they enjoy the extra money she said with sarcasm! read more

I am a 74 year old diabetic. I have lost 144 lbs since I have been a member here. The weight loss has been a combination of medical, medicinal and lifestyle changes but the water aerobics classes have kept me walking and moving. I had major back surgery in January and it was such a relief to get back into classes in April. I feel like I'm years younger now. If I miss a class I feel deprived. Love this place. I have joined some different types of gyms over the years with mixed results. I've done the huge gyms and the economical gyms. I felt lost in the big ones, I was just a number and the small gyms didn't have all the goodies. Cascade has it ALL. When I did my tour I was excited for a salon inside, why? Because I have my kids in the child care center and I can get my brows waxed! Haha. Oh and the kids club, my kids never want to leave! Just two hours a day kids! Everyone here is really nice. I have only ever FAILED at doing group classes before, either leaving early or finishing and never going back. My first day here I had to ask the front desk 3 times for help before I got to the class and the gentleman who was helping me made me feel so welcome about asking questions it kept me from quitting. Thanks dude, not sure your name. He even walked me to the class. Then when I got to spin class another student saw I was new and awkwardly standing by my bike trying to figure out what to do and she helped me out and let me know when the instructor walked in. Not only did the instructor come down to help me one on one she also encouraged me and everyone else during the work out. The class also kicked my ass! The most amazing part is I WILL BE BACK. As far as the facilities, super clean, up to date, good lay out. Oh and when I have questions, which I do because I never made it far at any gym, I feel comfortable asking ANY of the staff, they are all so nice! They definitely staff only NICE people, which if you have been to a lot of gyms, you know that's not the case! It says online that it's more spendy then most gyms, but really it's not that much higher than a regular big gym and you get so much more. Plus at the gresham facility the childcare goes all day so I don't have to try to fit in the morning or night like other gyms. My preferred times are available. My friend said I would not regret joining, and I don't! Even my husband who has never done the gym thing wants to join me! read more

Was with them for a year and it was great. It felt a little weird trying to lap swim when some of the people didn't want to share a lane but I still liked this place. I gave them 5 stars because I think for the money it's as good as it gets. They've recently remodeled to update the look of the locker rooms, reception area, and resurfaced the pool (there could be more, but I'm not aware if there was). I love the salt water pool, heated to 83 degrees, and another adjacent therapy pool that's even warmer. A fantastic power water aerobic class on Tues/Thurs evenings (6-7) really is a workout, love the teacher! Private showers, with shampoo and soap Good hair driers, Spacious locker room Friendly staff and fellow members Low key atmosphere Clean Hot tub and sauna in women's locker room, as well as a coed hot tub and steam room in the pool area The biggest weight room(s) I've ever seen Tennis Racquetball Beer, ready to go deli food (and made to order during specific times) and wine in counter service cafe. Nice recepetion area: fireplace, large screen tv's (with sports on, of course) Outdoor water park in summer that's fun! They have a large pool, water slide, fun stuff for the kids, showers, lockers, loads of chaise lounges, bathrooms (out there so that you don't have to go back in to the main bldg., and a great snack shack with grown up refreshments as well as summer snacks (nachos, hotdogs, Slurpies, etc. I like this place, it's not perfect, but I'm not paying top dollar so I appreciate all that they offer for one, seemingly reasonable, price. It feels safe and I've never felt any body shaming (as a 57 year old woman who needs to drop some weight as well as to exercise more, that's important to me). I want to give a personal shout out to Ramon (front desk in the morning), he's always encouraging and friendly first thing, truly better than a strong cup of Joe (their coffee isn't anything to write home about, FYI, which is sad because I would love to buy a fresh cup for my ride to work, oh well). Our family loves this club. We recently relocated to Gresham from out of state and were looking for an athletic club for the whole family to enjoy. We checked out this and three other gyms in the area and found CAC to have the most to offer. Been at it for a couple months now and are completely satisfied with our decision. The few negative reviews on Yelp had me wondering a bit but after working out here for a while now I cannot understand what those were about. The place is large, clean and has everything we were looking for, and then some. Staff are cheerful and service oriented. Prices are fair and certainly completive with everything else we considered. The parking lot seems pretty full at times but inside I have never experienced crowding and always have access to the equipment or facility I am interested in. All around we are pleased with what CAC offers for active families. I suggest disregarding the few outdated or false negative reviews as they do not match my family's experience at all. read more

This has been the 4th gym I have joined over my gym life and I love this place. I am a tennis player and there are 5 courts available complete with a mixed doubles league! The Cardio theater is never so full that you can't jump on something even during crunch time. My personal trainer is fantastic! He isn't the cookie cutter dude walking around trying to get clients any way he can. He is knowledgeable and laid back as far as no pressure to buy his training package. He knows his stuff and knows when to push you to do one more rep. Dre is great! One of the other trainers here is Ken Coleman from the third season of the show "Biggest Loser". The locker rooms are very clean and have a clean smell at all times.You get all the bells and whistles here. There are a bunch of classes for all abilities to choose from throughout the day as well as special classes you can sign up for at additional cost. The hours of operation is very convenient since they close at 11 pm weeknights and open at 4:30am!!!! The staff all seem nice too and where else is there a club where you can work out then drink a beer while watching a big screen tv in their lounge. I will be a member for life! read more

I'm disappointed. The club is beautiful, the staff is friendly and professional, the camps and activities for kids are great, no complaints about the facilities. Our family were members for about 7 years, I encouraged numerous friends and business colleagues to join... You'd think that would mean something. The sales staff told us that if you move, you can simply tell them and they'll end your membership, but really they keep auto billing you - in my case $106/month for 7 months, until I noticed and then they play this game where they say no, you needed to send an email to terminate, and you get attitude as if you're the idiot who didn't follow the rules, even though you were told something else. The place was a positive part of our lives in Gresham for years, but the billing issue was inconsistent with the otherwise excellent experience, and left a bad taste in my mouth. It's ok.... Mostly. The reviews for the Portland side sound great. The Fisher's Landing in Vancouver facility needs updating all over. The equipment is old and not alot to choose from. On the individual tv monitors for the elipticals, etc. there are only 4 -yes, I said -four- channels to look at. They still use paper towel/spray pump bottle to clean off equipment- not disposable wipes. Which means people are still cross contaminating on the spray bottle! While their pool facilites are good, they still use chlorine, not the updated salination systems. The shower stalls are tiny and not much privacy. No place for soaps, shampoos, etc.. no towel service. On the plus side, this is a very kid friendly club, with some great choices available for them. There are excellent basketball and swim team programs here, for kids and teens. This is also the -cleanest- club for this area (despite having no disposalable wipes). While we were looking for a club, 24 Hour Fitness Tech center had visible black mildew on the walls and ceilings of the swim and locker areas. Same for LaCamas Swim & Sport- smelled incredibly nasty in both places!! To me, this place appears to be run by a management that's cheap on its clients. When a clean and new club comes along out here, we will move on... Until then, CAC might think about checking out the Gold's in up Issaquah or Redmond- excellent equipment, cardio theatre, modern pool, roman tiled steam and showers, a women's only area, clean all over, a lovely lounge, juice bar area, and all at the same price! If it can happen up there, why not here? Get with it CAC. read more
