The worst customer service and super deceptive sales people. I started my gym membership before the Pilates classes had started there and the sales person talked me into 1 month Pilates for $99 I never ended up using it but after several months realized I was being charged for it and when I complained the canceled so no future charges but absolutely no credit. I never used this service and not even a sorry. This gym is only out for your money and could care less about the members. Especially seniors. I joined the Gresham LA Fitness in 2007 and also signed up for personal training. Since the time of my first training session I was not only diligent in keeping my appointments but increased my training sessions from once to twice a week. One year ago, GRIP took over the personal training. My experience with GRIP is less than desired. Unless changes are made, I would strongly suggest the arrangement between GRIP and LA Fitness not be considered at other locations. read more

First the positives: The gym is huge with ton of different equipment. They have a swimming pool, a basketball court, and squash (is that what it is called...) courts. They also have a spin cycle room. You can spend hours using all the equipment. They also have a smoothy bar that is very good. Now the negatives: Many able body people park in the handicap space. They do not do anything about it. I talked to the people at the front desk to no avail. I even called and talked to the manager that sounded spinless. I suggested to him that he can call the cops, and it was such a revelation to him. The staff is not very friendly nor helpful. Also, the place feels dirty. I've been going to this gym for about a year and a half now. I picked this gym because it was really clean and the staff was friendly. Neither if those things apply anymore. The gym is really dirty, it's like no one cleans anything. The machines are dusty, there's always garbage in the cup holders or on the floor, and the mirrors are always disgusting. I've seen 1 person cleaning but just in the ladies' locker room. They really need to step it up. They rarely have any spray bottles available so the guests can clean the machines when they're done. I, for one, take a spray bottle with me because it's good gym etiquette to clean the machines when you're done, but the last 3 times I've gone they haven't had any. The reason they give is that the guests must have them all, but when you look around the gym, nobody has a spray bottle. The floors and the mirrors in the aerobic gym area are just disgusting. I don't think it's unreasonable to clean the glass every night or every other night, but it doesn't appear to be cleaned at all. I might start bringing my own swiffer to clean the area I plan to use in there because the floor is just dirty. There's a giant dead bug or something that's been on the wall by the punching bags for weeks....the list goes on. At this point, I would recommend finding a cleaner gym unless they make some major changes. read more

If you are looking for racquetball, this is the club. I was a member of this club many years ago, and enjoyed it. Then as my kids were at that age where they wanted to use pools, we switched to Cascade. But the Cascade owners have turned me off through their active opposition to a public parks and recreation/community center here in Gresham (so needed!). So I recently decided to re-visit LA Fitness. The pricing here is competitive. The facility is clean. Check-in was fast and friendly. The racquetball courts are plentiful, and have nice glass back walls to let in light (this also allows you to keep your eyes on valuables, which is nice). While I know corporate fitness chains are known for their restrictive policies, one nice thing about many of the memberships here is you can bring guests in with you. That is perfect for racquetball, since you can invite friends without worrying about their own membership status. read more

Great Gym but doesn't open until 5am, but the awesome lady usually opens up early for a bunch of us that are waiting every morning or at least until the Manager stopped her from doing it now, even thou there is a LOT of people who want it opened earlier especially in the Summer. Many have asked and no one seems to care even thou the lady is there every morning by 4:30 AM and is willing to open up. Manager should focus on being there at Night and making sure everything is getting put away before closing "Weights' are everywhere in the morning" Open earlier so the 20-30 people waiting every single day can workout and get to work on time. read more

These people are predatory in their business practices. I joined a different gym, and no one will cancel my memembership, despite countless calls. They say there's a form to print out and MAIL in. But it doesn't exist. the "link" isn't linked to anything. I called National customer service and she wouldn't help, i was like the only options you're leaving me with are to report you to BBB and leave online reviews and report you as fraudulent charges to my bank-- and she said, "WHY DONT YOU DO THAT." I asked to speak with someone above her, she said she's a manager, no one's above her. I said, how about the person who hired you, let me speak to them. she refused to put me through. I've emailed, been told I'll be emailed a form. The links don't work, no one seems to care whether you want to leave, or feels any need to treat you with respect. This place is a misogynistic fitness club that you can't get out of without being pressured in person by men judging you for leaving. It's a place where people have no customer service skills, or desire to help. It's a place where managers pretend to be receptionists to sluff you off. And their national member services line is a place where people refuse to help, hang up, will not cancel your membership or transfer you to anyone above them. Had let my sister borrow my headphones for a gym sesh and she mistakenly left them by the juice bar. When I called to ask about them they told me they had them. Next day I go in they are gone and I was told that they were given to someone else. It's been a while since I've been to a LA fitness and this review was only based on my free five day guest pass. I can honestly say that hands-down LA fitness is one of the cleanest facilities that I have been to. the amenities like racquetball the swimming pool the separate cardio area divided fitness rooms and overall weight training areas are some of the best of the best when you compare them to 24 hour fitness or even like Gresham athletic fitness club. I have noticed that when you sign up for a pass online about 1 to 2 weeks later they end up sending you a special offer for $29.99 per month. I believe that only includes one gym and it's really not a bad offer considering at their hours are 430 to midnight weekdays and shorter on the weekends which would be the only downfall the customer service isn't the best best but you're really not going to interact with them anyway so I can understand why they're not rating as well but Gresham needs these types of clubs out this way as it's growing as a city. read more

It's a gym. Pros: I'm happy with this location, plus that it's close to a MAX stop (and a park and ride) - among my considerations were that 24 Hour fitness would be a bit further from my house (though there's a 2nd location very close to wear I work), Lyft is less expensive but only has one location, and Cascade is too far away and too spendy (plus, I think they were too cavalier about ignoring state rules and trying to reopen early during the pandemic). Most of the front desk staff are friendly, more so now than when I first started going (perhaps they noticed the reviews here?), the gym and women's locker room are always clean, and so is the pool. Cons: There is a crossfit -esque area with gear not available elsewhere in the gym, but it's only open to training clients. Not a ton of options for classes. Hours are more limited compared to 24 Hour's and Lyft's 24-hour member access policies - not that I would go in at midnight, but I've been going at 5 a.m. on weekdays and I would come at 4 a.m. if they returned to that schedule. On weekends, they don't open until 8 a.m. right now, and would be great if that was moved up to 5 or 6. I understand some of the complaints about member services - deceptive price games and hidden fees are things I've experienced at almost every corporate gym I've ever had a membership at. But I think that's controlled by company - not the location. High pressure sales staff who basically try to neg you into buying a membership, OTOH....that's the location's fault. I like this gym's amenities, and I'd totally invite friends to come with me and talk it up to them - but, I don't, because even though I can sponsor a guest as a "benefit," I know they will they have to go through those jerks and listen to a high pressure pitch to collect it. (Made that mistake once and won't do it again, the guy literally made us late for the class I was inviting her too. Not worth it). Also: For the most part, I haven't had issues with any of the members. In the a.m., people mind their own business, most are just there to work out (there's a little bit more socializing among some of the younger crowd in the evenings, and in the whirlpool/sauna areas). Not super pleasant knowing that some of them are quietly bigots or fatshamers like David D. down there - the Dave D. who complains about fat people in the pool. (I pay the same dues you do, Dave. And Aquafit is a great workout - you can't see people moving because most of the movement is under water, for the resistance. You idiot). But you know - there's always a Dave, right? I have been going here for 3 years and this gym is going down hill. The AC has not been working for 3+ weeks with this 100 degree weather, they have had the PO number to get the AC fixed for over a week but yet they are not taking care of this. It is hot as hell in there. They have two fans upstairs, one in the basketball court and only one fan for the entire main floor. In addition to the unbearable smelly muggy heat the younger crowd have no manners and occupy the machines while they are on their phones. Their are also groups of boys that work out together on one machine and you can't get to it in a reasonable amount of time. People are also using more than one machine at a time and won't let you use one while they are on the other one. La does nothing about this read more

I've been going here for years and the best time is definitely in the morning 5AM-8AM. Desperately needs AC. Once this gets fixed 5* no doubt. I mean sure I came to sweat and workout but fuck it's stuffy and hot in there. Look at all the physically fit individuals who are focused and working out hard - they're drenched in nothing but sweat. All that goes onto the equipment. Other than this I've yet to encounter any of the other issues shared in the bad reviews. Weight droppers and people with no manners tend to go in around evening time. Avoid. They're juiced, move in pacts, usually 3-5 people on one equipment and annoying. Lol read more

**Beware if you are a visitor to this location ** My out of town guest visited this LA Fitness location a few days before the holiday. First, as they were orienting themselves with the layout of where equipment was, a customer rudely made comments to them, then proceeded to go to the front desk to speak to them. After that, the LA Fitness personnel came over to my guest and suggested several OTHER LA Fitness gyms in the are they could visit. Rude and unprofessional is the BEST I can say about this. I'm a regular at 24 hour fitness and this place is definitely a step up. The locker room is clean with a private sauna available. There is a lounge area and a large area for applying makeup and drying hair. The cardio area is large and I've never had to wait to use equipment. Have never seen an "Out of Order" sign on the equipment either. Do need a radio tuner to watch the TV's..... Weight room is large with plenty of free weights and several areas to use them. Also seem to have plenty of the lighter weights that seem to usually mysteriously disappear. Classes-good schedule of classes with plenty of yoga, spinning, and Zumba classes available. (Wish they had some kickboxing classes available......) Extras........full size lap pool, racket ball courts and basketball court. Also have a smoothie bar. Cost isn't that much more than 24 hour and you don't have fight crowds or deal with broken equipment. Also have plenty of month to month options that are affordable and don't rope you into signing up for years. read more

He didn't give me his name, didn't really seem like he wanted to show me around and it's basically $40 a month after yearly fee first and last and sign up fee... I'm from Vegas where memberships are $25 and no yearly no sneaky bs. I called prior to ask about fees and none of which was told. Just left a bad impression I'm gonna look at other gyms. If I sign up it will not be with the guy here. Arrived at the gym this Morning at 5am( Opening time). Several people(at least 20) arrived to go workout and no employee showed until 5:30am. There were a lot of very angry regular customers standing in the cold waiting for someone to show up. Even on normal days, the person opening the building does not open the doors until 5 am or just after. That means that no employee checks out the facility before customers roam the facility. What if there is a safety issue or a mess somewhere? Do better LA Fitness. Your customers deserve better. I do want to mention that the morning staff are very nice. read more

Compared to the 24 fitness I was a member at in California this place is great. It is a VERY large gym, so even in the evening at peak time its not overly packed to where you have to wait for machines very often. They have a pool, basketball court, raquet ball couts, spin class room and another seperate room for other classes. The staff is fairly nice just kinda depends who you talk to. There is a kids club but I dont know much about it. I do see lots of parents using it though so it must be pretty good. The best part for me is the locker room is clean and looks great which was a big problem at the other gym I used to go to. read more

This location is about typical of the what you get at other locations except the LLoyd location. This place is location got extremely crowded when LA Fitness purchased the Ballies Memberships, but that has died down a little bit. The pool claims to be salt water but its chlorinated. I just re-joined after being away for year and a half. In the interim they really spruced up the place. All the equipment on the cardio mezzanine is new. Individual TV screens so you can watch what you want. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It's great to be working out again. They just lost a potential new member with their surly customer service. My husband has had a membership at LA Fitness for 10+ years. He previously had "guest" privileges but apparently he doesn't any longer. I went with him today to see if I wanted to choose LA Fitness as my health club when I go on Medicare and get a Silver&Fit fitness membership at one of the major health clubs. But, the young person at the desk, instead of asking if I was interested in joining just turned me away because my husband's membership no longer allows him to bring a one-time guest and because I didn't have my ID. I'm assuming that part of the persons' job at the front desk is to be inviting to potential new members. Not this guy! Hands down the best gym I've been to they are very helpful my trainer is awesome Nate D listened to my concern with injuries made a game plan of exercises to rehab my problem areas I no longer hurt in those spots. WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CALL THE POLICE! I have been a member of LA Fitness for two years. I've heard from other people about the bad attitude of the management towards the customers, but I didn't want to believe it. Something bad had to happened to change my mind. On January 29, 2016, I parked my car right in front of the door, it was the fourth parking spot in front of the main entrance. I locked the doors, stepped in to the gym and started my workout. When I got out in an hour I found my front right window broken, and all my belongings missing. Of course, I panicked as I never had a situation like that before. The hole world collapsed. I couldn't speak, I couldn't think of anything. I managed to run back inside to the gym to ask them for help, including to call the police. How surprised I was when they told me:"WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CALL THE POLICE". There were 3 people upfront, they looked at me as I was unwelcome. They didn't give a shit about my problem. I finally got the number and called to police. It took them 45 minutes to show up. These 45 minutes I felt myself alone in a cold desert. Nobody cared, nobody offered any help. They were absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL. They were probably afraid to spoil their "reputation", which they don't have. I hope they start to think about their customers... I am done, I'm never coming back. read more

THE POOL IS OFTEN WARMER THAN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE. Keep the pool nice and cool for lap swimming instead of nearly hot as a hot tub. My chest aches when I try to swim laps in really warm water for 20 minutes or longer. IT'S DANGEROUS. Gimma a break. I'm trying to get healthier, not sicker. When the heater comes on, it heats up the pool way above the maximum temp and then lets it cool down. This makes working out very difficult. I actually carry a pool thermometer so I know what I'm talking about! Much of the time the pool is way hotter than 82-84 degrees. In the side lanes, it gets up to 88-89 degrees! That's as warm as bath water! Yes, I know in theory that the pool is required to be a certain temp for physical therapy but I've been going to the club for over five years and I've seen maybe two or three people a handful of times that look injured and are moving in the water to get better. It's a miniscule minority of pool users. Why should everyone else suffer because of a handful of people who barely ever use the pool? And, no, the pool temp should not be determined by the obese people who take the aqua fit classes. These big folks meet six hours per week and lap swimmers use the pool religiously the rest of the time. That's six hours per week (aqua fit) vs.126 hours per week for actual swimmers. Plus, I think it's worth pointing out that the obese aqua fit people also don't really swim or immerse themselves in the water. They stand upright the whole time and barely move around for 45 minutes with a few arm movements here and there. This hardly qualifies as exercise (that would get their pulses up) and if they do happen to feel "cold" they have plenty of insulation to keep them warm. Meanwhile, I'm burning up when I try to get some real exercise swimming laps! It's very hard to work out in warm water. Help me out, please! read more
