Now here's a place that seems tailor-made for American tourists since it felt like a cross between…read moreThe Cheesecake Factory and Applebee's. Before you roll your eyes thinking this will be one of my dismissive reviews, I want to confess Jamie W and I had satisfying bites here when we were seeking a lighter bite for lunch and a late night latte after barhopping. It's a spacious cafe on one of Sitges' main pedestrian arteries, Carrer Marques Montroig. Beyond the lure of terrace seating, it has the added convenience of being open from 8:30AM to midnight and 2AM on weekends. Their menu is quite broad with a focus on familiar comfort foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We came here to have salads, and they have them for 8,7€ each. Jamie had the Spinach which included jamon serrano, parmesan, and walnuts (Photo 9), while I went with the Caesar which had chicken and parmesan (Photo 8). They were both hearty portions well executed. We decided to indulge and have 2,2€ Cafe Leches (Photo 6) but not before sharing a big 6,2€ slice of Apple Pie served à la mode with vanilla ice cream, cinnamon, toffee, and whipped cream (Photo 7). They're locally known for the wide variety of their baked goods (Photo 2), so we just felt a need to have dessert. On another evening, we returned to satisfy our need for something decadent yet again. FOOD - 4 stars...casual eats in American-size portions, the baked sweets are tasty AMBIANCE - 4 stars...inviting terrace seating, usually pretty busy in here SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty efficient and open late TOTAL - 4 stars...a bustling, all-day hub for light bites or heavier indulgences RELATED - Exploring Sitges? After getting a bit bored with our daily breakfast spot, we tried Café Montroig. It's a huge café…read moreopen to the street, with a high glass roof indoors. Montroig also has open air tables in the back, plus seating rows on the street front. We avoided the front since that's where the smokers sit and the smell wafts inside. The breakfast menu is extensive with every kind of egg option, breakfast style and espresso coffee choice imaginable. You'll be sure to find something on the menu. I chose the English Breakfast one and it is a big breakfast. Imagine American Breakfast without hash browns but with baked beans and tomato slice. I just got the American the next time. Both were nothing special, just basic. Friends liked their cold cereal and fruit offerings. Service was off both times as the young servers didn't come by enough, forgot to bring requested items or even forgot orders. Food took forever to arrive, and not all at the same time. We were on holiday and really had nowhere to rush off to anyway.

This spot is just a smidge out of the heaviest tourist zone, but it's enough to decrease your chance of waiting in a queue like at Gelati Dino on the beachfront (review: https://yelp.to/k8iGRpS7UM). They're more on the artisan end of the ice cream spectrum with local ingredients when possible. There were some audacious flavor combinations like marscarpone with pear and dark chocolate and Philadelphia cream cheese with hibiscus flowers. Jamie W and I weren't feeling that adventurous. He went for the 3€ Single Scoop Cone of Cafe (Coffee) (Photo 9), while I ordered the 4,5€ Double Scoop Cone of Cafe and Pistachio (Photo 10). Solidly reliable flavors that hit the spot when we weren't even looking for it. That was true Sitges spontaneity. GELATO - 4 stars...rich flavors and not overly sweet AMBIANCE - 4 stars...festive space SERVICE - 4 stars... polite and attentive TOTAL - 4 stars...gelato for the more discriminating and adventurous RELATED - Exploring Sitges? There are a lot of gelato places in Sitges, but Gelateria Olivier is where we come back to, mostly…read morebecause the wait line is not crazy long like some of the "famous" name brands in town. The shop is clean and modern. The server scooper was sweet. Even though there was a larger variety of flavors, I always gravitate toward my favorite Coffee (I forget exactly what flavor name they call it here...Cappuccino?) which tasted delicious! There is a bench to sit and eat, but no table service. Basically lick and eat quickly before it melts in the hot sun.
