I was there for lunch right after Christmas. The food was delicious & plentiful. The tortilla chips were crispy & homemade and they were served with a spicy salsa & a bean sauce--very tasty! I had the carnitas tacos with the homemade corn tortillas. Our waitress was attentive and constantly cleaning....wiping tables, chairs & menus. The place is very clean. I always like to check the restrooms--if they're clean & well stocked, then more stars! Would have been 5 stars except our sides-beans & rice- were room temp at best. Bad business! Went there to get a gift certificate. Bought some soup and an appetizer total almost $90. I'm sure I spent more than some of the other patrons in the restaurant. Most of them just couples my order was to go, asked if chips and salsa came with my order. It was an extra three dollar charge. I said no thank you. Was asked to leave a tip. What a joke . If I would sat down order the soup would I got chips and salsa for free? I know nothing is free but I just spent $90. I'm only here for one night, and this is where we chose to eat. Yelpers are right, this is really good food. Being from Southern California in a heavily Hispanic area, I know good Mexican food. This passes! Best part is that it's family owned! Service was great. The salsa is definitely homemade with guajillo chili's. Great Mexican food, the staff is super friendly and attentive. The salsa is so good I would drink a cup of it. They have the coldest cerveza in town. They serve their beer in a frozen glass and it's very cold and refreshing. Everything I've tasted on the menu has been delicious. read more

Most of the Mexican Restaurant places around here are rated very well, i don't know if they are all as good as this place but, i was impressed. The rice and beans weren't anything special until i mixed them together with some cajun spices and it was perfect. All of the flavor was in the meat, when mixed with everything, it was just right. Mixed with the fresh handmade corn tortillas was nice. I had the Pork and enjoyed it very well. The chicken was off the chain, hit the tummy just right. A cute, upscale Mexican restaurant with great food and great prices. It is located in a strip mall that looks like a castle(!). The inside is decorated well and I actually liked the music. Our server was friendly too. The complimentary chips and salsa were awesome - because they also came with a black bean dip. The bean dip was divine and I had it twice. I think they should add it to the menu once they are more established. For my entree I ordered the vegetarian burrito. I really liked that too. I found it surprising affordable, 2 combination plates (carnitas and enchilada) and 2 bags of chips with salsa and black beans (which I absolutely love) for less than 40$. We ordered to go. As far as Mexican restaurants in Redding go, I would have to say this is the best out of all of them. Most the Mexican restaurants in Redding are super generic, but Casa Rios is a step above. Their food is presented better, seems healthier, and tastes better. Their salads have a nice mix of romaine lettuce and mixed greens, plus other veggies, rather than the yucky old iceberg lettuce that so many restaurants use. My personal favorite is their little potato tacos because I am not much of a meat eater. They serve them with a really good spicy avocado sauce on the side, and crispy homemade taco shells. Had lunch today with hubby. Great experiance from the moment we entered. The girls were on it getting us seated, drinks, chips, salsa, and beans. We settled on the chili verde and burrito majado. Food came out quickly. Hubby loved the chili verde that was served with homemade tortillas. Cleared his plate. My burrito was huge, and portioned right with the filling. Flavor of everything was the best weve had in Redding so far. The girls were quick with drink refills as well and always smiling. I ended up here after getting a haircut in the same plaza. The reviews looked we'll and I said why not. Asked the server what he would recommend and he quickly responded the carnitas platter. Ordered that with a watermelon agua fresca. I definitely like the refríes beans and chips, that's a great staple for a starter. Food was good but not great. The carnitas were good but not so tasty. I enjoyed two items I can't pronounce that had homemade thick corn tortillas, seasoning was great. Most of the traditional Mexican restaurants in Redding have good food, but are very greasy. This food was not greasy at all. The plates were garnished well and they looked fancy. They don't just throw a ton of shredded lettuce and cheese all over it to where you can't really see what you are about to eat. You must try these folks out! Best Mexican food in Redding!!! My friend recommended this place to me so my little family of three tried it, we ordered the chicken and steak fajitas and every bit of it was DELICIOUS. Their guacamole is amazing. My daughter got chicken tenders and fries and they were some of the best I've had. They have the most amazing black bean dip and salsa with chips which is hard not to fill up on before your food arrives. This is definitely our go to spot from now on. My daughter and I wanted to try something different for lunch. I suggested Casa Rios Grill as it was close to both where I lived and she worked. She ordered a chicken chimichanga and I got the cheese enchiladas. They asked me what sauce I wanted on the enchiladas, which I thought was strange, as I thought they were all cooked in enchilada sauce lol. They gave me a choice of red or green; the read was hot and the green was not. I could not decide so they gave me a little dish of both. The enchiladas were dry and crunchy on the edges. The cheese was rubbery. I had to use a knife to cut them. In addition they were barely warm. I did not care for either sauce; as neither were your typical enchilada sauce. I asked them why they were crunchy and they said they fry them and then put the sauce over them. They were not good. It came with beans and rice and I told them I did not want the rice. I got a pool of runny beans, with no appearance of beans at all. I think they run them through the blender, but it was a pool. I did not eat any of it, and they did deduct it from the bill, after asking if I wanted something else. Nope. My daughter's chimichanga was impressive looking, but she said the chicken had no flavor. She only ate half as she usually does due to size. She normally would take the other half home, but she said no thanks. Wasn't worth it. Will never go back there. Redding is not known for exceptional Mexican restaurants, but after eating here, the others were more appealing to me lol. read more

We went for dinner and took my grandmother for her 77th birthday about a month ago. Everything was delicious and flavorful! The staff are all attentive and friendly but not over the top obnoxious. With 7 of us for dinner the tab was only about $85 with no alcohol. They even brought her out a free birthday dessert that really made her feel special and made my heart happy. Today my husband and I went here for breakfast. I ordered the French toast with fresh berries and my husband ordered the chorizo scramble. He also had the sangria which they load with fresh fruit and offer with red or white wine. It's almost a meal in itself. Both were delicious. My French toast wasn't overly sweet and they didn't use the thick canned pie filling type fruit. It was perfect! My husbands scramble was very flavorful and not greasy in the least. Seasoned perfectly, hot, great quality, and great prices! The chips and salsa are different from any other place around here. They are freshly made with actual seasoning instead of just salt.
