We had a great experience at Casa Pasta. The food was genuinely enjoyable--definitely not bland at all. Everything was well-seasoned and full of flavor, which really stood out. The portions are generous, so you definitely get your money's worth. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. The ambiance is also really nice--clean, comfortable, and welcoming. Even the bathrooms were clean, and you know what they say... if the bathrooms are clean, the kitchen usually reflects that too. I don't understand the high reviews for this place. Again I'm trying not to be overly critical and I try not be ugly with the exception of two places I will stop mentioning. This was an after church meal. We decided to try something different. This was bad different. Let's get to it. We had the meat lovers pizza, pasta sampler, and pasta fagioli soup. Let's start with the few positives. The service was excellent. Made it sting a little less. The free bread they bring you was warm and you can order more. I can't tell if it's made in house or warmed up. I heard another patron complain about charging $5 for dipping oil. I agree! It would've been greatly appreciated and sorely needed. The food was just a no for us. The pizza was messy, floppy, and it was a premade crust. Like frozen premade. Prove me wrong. That is a crime for a stand alone establishment. It has all the flavor and nuisance of a chucky cheese pizza just thicker. Then we get to the pasta. The sauce was absolutely, comically, waaay tooo sweet. Think canned pasta. You could not tell the pasta apart from the way it was smothered. The soup wasn't any better. I've had canned with better flavor. We've been to the OG location in Helotes & decided to come here since it's close to our place. I believe this place is still BYOB but I didn't ask & I did not bring my own wine lol. We of course started with bruschetta which is always good, I can't get enough of it! I then ordered the Pasta sampler (10/10) & my bf got the Ziti Campognoli (9/10). Amazing meals and service! Shout out to Brianna, our server for outstanding service. Ordered their special penne salsicia- excellent! Shrimp, sausage, basil, garlic and lots of it, in an oil wine sauce atop of penne- super garlicky and tasty with plenty of sautéed sausage and shrimp. The pasta sampler consisted of lasagna, manicotti, and cannelloni all placed in harmony next to each other and smothered in ooey gooey cheese. We rolled outta there happy and content . Food was GREAT! Area it is located in (off potranco) is a busy street. Place was nice and inviting. The service however... different story. Everything was going well, we had ordered a garlic cheese bread and it was really good. When our entrees came out, everything was fine. We realized we wanted more bread for our food (we had finished the garlic cheese bread appetizer). My boyfriend ordered another plate of garlic cheese bread. However, I remembered on the menu it stated we also get bread with our food included. When the waitress came back we asked about it but she said "well we didn't bring the bread included since most people don't want a second helping of bread after ordering that appetizer".... Okay take that as you will, we just said "ok thanks, no worries". We got our second plate of garlic cheese bread we ordered. Then we overheard her complaining about us to her coworkers and the kitchen and she very loudly said "I didn't tell you to order another plate of bread" followed by more conversation. We didn't ask her to refund us or return the second plate of bread nor made a big fuss about it so why are you complaining? All we did was ask about the bread that comes with our entree. My husband and I frequent Casa Pasta! We've told lots of friends about it. They love it too! The manager, Fabiola, is THE BEST! She is always kind and friendly to everyone who goes in. She took time our first time we went in to explain the house favorites. The food is delish and we love it here! Every time we go in there are so many tables filled and the whole staff is extremely helpful. Our favorites include: Greek salad (we split this) calamari, shrimp scampi, shrimp Alfredo and the bread is so good! Tonight we had a pizza and a salad! We were excited to see this location open up. The food was excellent just like the original place on Bandera. Been here three times already and it never disappoints. I also had a red wine that tasted good and was modestly priced, which I appreciated. My entrée was the clams and linguini in red sauce; it didn't quite meet my expectations, as the clams were a bit overdone. Wow! I experienced the most disrespectful argument from Casa Pasta waitress Fabiola! A very nice family walked in and got seated on the waiting area while waiting for them to be seated, the disrespectful waitress got in front of the family directed her self to a lady and told her she was not going to provide service and that they needed to leave and exit the permises! Poor family they were just coming to have dinner never had I experienced such disrespectful attitude from a waitress towards a family! I visited the Potranco location when it first opened and the ambience was a little off (soda machine in the open, tables misplaced, etc) but after recently going it has changed a lot. The inside is very clean and the tables are evenly spread out (no soda machine anymore!) A must try is the Garlic Bread with Cheese. Absolutely phenomenal and a perfect starter. I had the Stromboli for my main dish and it was amazing! The bread used for it was similar to the garlic cheese bread, and the marinara it came with had a homemade taste which was nice. Salads were mediocre with big pieces of lettuce, one slice of tomato, croutons, and small pieces of carrot. Spaghetti with meat sauce was delicious; marinara was bright and fresh. Chicken florentine consisted of two pieces of chicken with spinach and mushrooms -- covered with a wine sauce that was rich and delicious. Big slices of mozzarella were melted on top of each piece of chicken. The pepperoni pizza was thin sliced and delicious with a nice crust and slightly spicy pepperoni. Great meal!
