That said, after today's visit, I stand corrected. The exterior is run down and the lighting inside is depressing, but the place is clean, the staff is nice and the pricing is competitive. If this place had a robust meat selection, I think they could give Uwajimaya a run. I didn't find everything I was looking for, but the dry spices and vegetables were exactly what I was after. I didn't see cabbage or celery, but the selection was still more diverse than any other store I've visited. My singular knock was the two guys stocking the store. Both were kind and polite, but they also had radios blasting music. I'm sensitive to sound, so it made it hard for me to focus and I'm sure a couple items I was after I missed, because I couldn't stay in the area where they were stocking merch. Bulk spices tend to last, so it may be a minute before I find my way back here. That said, this will be my go to spice store.

Found boxes of instant noodles that we liked on sale, got some Milka chocolate, fruits, fresh vegetables, Indian Naan and Paratha bread, spices, Asian sauces, etc. It was a great shopping experience since we hadn't visited this store in a long time.

I think this place changed owners, it's not the same food or people as years past. Not sure when…read morethe change happened. The weekend-only tamales are delicious. My absolute favorite in all of Washington if you like the banana-leaf, Oaxacana-style tamales. They're a hefty size but I can eat two easily bc they're so darn delicious.

TLDR: Best tacos in WA! If you want good food, make a trip here!…read more We've been coming to MI Mercado for about 4 years already. At the beginning we didn't know the name of this place, or why this grocery store served tacos. But all I know is - thank goodness my husband likes to try random food, because he discovered the best tacos in WA! Every single type of meat we've tried here has been mindblowingly good. Like, life changing. And I really don't say this often. I always thought pollo (chicken) tacos tend to be dryer/blander, but Armando's pollo is fantastic. But wait - the asada, pastor, carnitas, chorizo... Oh my gosh, everything has SO MUCH FLAVOUR and stays JUICY! Ok let me break it down for you: - smoked pork chop in a taco: we were like "what? it barely fits in the tortilla" but next second "oh man this is the best!" I think this is called chuleta? - carnitas: I've never had any other carnitas with so much texture and flavour. There's a mix of pork with skin? And soft gooey bits of pork? Yum, one of my favorites! - asada: it's always my safe option when unsure. This asada is just levels above all other competition in terms of flavour though. - pastor: this is only on Sat & Sun. The pastor is on a rotisserie thing. Also one of my faves! - everything else is amazing too. I'm getting tired of typing on my phone so I'll leave the rest for you to try FYI their meat selection each day varies I do want to point out that you might think the tacos are pricey (I think it's like $4 each). But the portions are really generous! At normal taco trucks, I'd eat 4 tacos for a meal. Here, I'd be full with 2 tacos, but then continue to eat 2 more because I always want to order every single kind of meat they have available that day, and end up way too full their quesadillas are gigantic too, check out my photos from this morning! Apart from Armando's tacos/quesadillas, we just found out today there's a lady in the store who serves El Salvadoran food. We're gonna come back and try her pupusas next time I've been hesitant to post about this place, because if they get too popular, we might have to wait :( but finally, after chatting with Armando today, I think it's better to spread the word and get them more business, because they truly deserve it! PS: We've never bumped into any other English-speaking customer lol, I think that shows how authentic they are. If you go, tell Armando that Ben&Monica sent you

These tacos were 2/5. Pork chop (tastes like ham), asada (nice char, bit dry), chorizo (okay).

I found this gem recently when I was craving some pan dulce "sweet bread"…read more This location deserves more stars for their bread because honestly it's the most fresh sweet bread that I have been able to find in a long time. I have been back maybe 3 times total and the bread could never last long enough "the short drive home" to get a good picture so this time I kept it together and managed to take a picture before it got devoured. I love how close it is to my home, which is why I keep returning. Also the checkout gals are always so nice so it makes the whole experience better. I will say that the location is in a busy little shopping center and parking up close can be hard to find during busy times as it is next to restaurants but there is plenty of parking in the lot all together. With that being said if you want to have more bread selection to choose from I suggest you go before 7pm ish or so today I went at 7:45pm and they still had a great selection surprising for a Friday night because on another night I came around 8:00 and there were maybe 4 different breads to choose from but they were all still fresh and good. Anyways if anyone loves sweet bread as much as my fiance and I do and you live in renton I reccomend this place.

First off, the positive. They have good service which is very attentive and friendly…read more However, the food is mediocre. The chips are not very good even though they're free. And the tortillas are just OK as well. I ordered a dish that the server recommended, which was the Chili Verde. It didn't taste very fresh, so I'm assuming they may not have made it that day. Same with the chips and tortillas. I understand that it's hard to keep everything fresh but as a customer, I'm not sure I'd return since I've had better Mexican food close by. The good thing is that the price was reasonable, especially the lunch specials. However, I'm not likely to return due to the mediocre food.

These people done pissed me off today. I've been shopping here pretty regularly over the past 4…read moreyears. I've gotten fish from their seafood counter many, many times. And often I have them clean it and then fry it. The fish depending on the size is typically cooked around ten minutes. I waited at the counter where they prep the food and saw my piece of fish in the fryer. I stood there for over 20 minutes before they finally took it out. When the lady finally gave me my fish, I looked at it and said it's over cooked. She didn't wanna talk to me so he had the other lady come over to talk to me. Instead of I'm sorry, let's fix it she gave me every reason in the book. It wasn't twenty minutes in the fryer. That's how people always ask for it to be done. And ending with it's not overcooked. I just took my fish and walked away. After paying for my groceries, I saw the store manager with one of the supervisors or managers and went over there. As I started to say my fish was over cooked, the store manager ran away instead of trying to help me. The lady pushed me off to someone else and said I need to talk to the seafood manager. One - I'm not gonna talk to a fourth person. Two - the seafood manager ain't responsible for the ladies cooking my fish for over twenty minutes. What had me so livid, is the absolute POOR ASS CUSTOMER SERVICE. Not one person attempted to rectify the situation and instead wanted to push me off to someone else. And the FACT that the STORE MANAGER ran off instead of fixing the situation really pissed me off. Sure, I'm one person and my dollars won't make a difference. But my voice will be heard and I will let everyone I know why they shouldn't spend their money there. There are many Asian stores in the area and with much better quality (especially when you compare the meat department). It's a review that should be a NEGATIVE TWENTY.
