They brought out complimentary chips and salsa to start, with a note on the menu that a second basket comes with a charge. One thing to be aware of: the chips are not made in a dedicated fryer, so they aren't gluten-free. Service was a bit of a mixed experience. There was definitely a language barrier, which made communication difficult at times--our questions often had to go through multiple staff members before we got an answer. Food came out pretty quickly, which we appreciated since we were in a rush. That said, there were some hits and misses. I ordered tacos al pastor but was given steak tacos instead. I tried to explain the mix-up, but it wasn't resolved, and due to time, I just ate them. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked and tough, and the tacos themselves were very basic--just meat on a corn tortilla, with extras like sour cream costing more. On the plus side, my nephew really enjoyed his kids' cheese quesadilla and fries (the fries looked crispy and well-made). Someone in our group liked the chorizo quesadilla, and another had the birria tacos and thought they were just okay--nothing standout, especially compared to other places. Pricing felt a bit high for the portion size and overall quality. There is a small parking lot, but we didn't have trouble finding a spot, which is always a plus. Overall, Casa Mezcal was convenient and quick, but between the order mix-up, inconsistent food quality, and communication challenges, it didn't fully hit the mark for us.
