Great location right in town, easy walk to all of the stores and restaurants. There are a few…read moreparking spaces here on the side of the building, and you can also get here by bus (there's a stop right here!). Call in advance to check availability and make a reservation: it's a small place! The communal kitchen is big, and you can use the coffee, tea and oatmeal (anything else you have to bring yourself). The kitchen has an 11pm curfew, so they're trying to keep it quiet here (this is not a party hostel; alcohol, smoking and drugs are banned!). The wifi is good. Enter with a key from the back door and use a code to enter the room. Sone notes about room 3; which is where I take off one star. Theoretically the room sleeps four as long as two are willing to share a full size bed, and as long as one can vault up to a bunk bed (the ladder is broken). So at the moment it's really a three person room. You'd better be very comfortable using a bathroom around those folks, because the room entry is through the bathroom, so anyone going from hallway to room and vice versa passes through the bathroom. Okay. It's the only room set up that way. The shower is great, there's lots of light and fans, but the main reason im taking off a star is because the room clearly wasn't cleaned before check in. The sink had brown stuff on it, which was easy enough to clean, but not what I would expect to see. There were also literal sprigs of weeds and wildflowers on the floor, which I picked up and put it the trash, but when you see mess that's that obvious, it makes you wonder what kinds of less obvious uncleanliness might be there... and good thing they provide ear plugs, because the room next door had a piano (ie someone practicing piano, not just playing music on a speaker), a dog and a toddler!

(in the US, at least) Owner is incredibly kind and humorous. We stayed in two different private rooms and they both felt like home. One even had a fridge, something that's hard to find in a hotel these days, let alone a hostel. Location is great, you can walk to everything. Only negative is that the parking can be kind of tricky.

Tim was a friendly host who provided a nice breakfast and great stories. Eating on the patio with other guests while enjoying the birds and river was memorable! The 1847 house is full of wonderful character right down to the creaky floors and steep stairs. But the apartment was very dirty: large dust clumps, pill under table, food bits in and around sink with bugs flying around, very dusty/grimy. Two windows didn't have privacy curtains making our daughters uncomfortable sleeping in the living room. And viewed from those windows was clutter in the adjoining indoor patio and crutches leaning against a fence. The bathroom was tiny, very tiny dirty shower with used loofa's inside, no TP holder and a plate of mostly used bars of soap. The common rooms were very cluttered. That beautiful long table was too cluttered to visit and the living room was cluttered with laundry and drying laundry. But if you go into it knowing that, it is a great experience because of the interactions with the people, location and this charming home. And it was our most comfy bed of the trip!!

There's thrift shop charm, art galore, and comfortable beds with down comforters. You cannot beat the view of the Hudson and Catskill Mountains. It's quiet, safe, and exudes warmth. If you're looking for luxury, this is not your place. Some of it is rough around the edges. If your looking for a beautiful, historic home and a side dish of "quirk" you will enjoy yourself. Tim is a great host. Not sure if he makes the granola that's served for breakfast, but it sure is good. If my daughter picks Bard as her school, we will most certainly be back. Thank you for a lovely stay, Tim.

It's definitely sunset boulevard, past its prime. But you can still tell that it was beautiful in its day. The rooms are surrounded by fields and woods. We arrived at dusk, in the summer, and there were a lot of fire flies. My 5 1/2 year old ran after them. The sounds of crickets and maybe even frogs was loud all night. Our room faced the courtyard, which is definitely nicer than the rooms facing the parking. If you like David Lynch, you will definitely love this hotel.

Room stunk of cigarettes, even though was supposed to be non-smoking. We left within 60 seconds, and were promised by the front desk we would not be charged. Well, they not only charged us, they OVER charged us! We have been trying to reach them for over a week, and when we tell the front desk agent what is happening and that we need to be refunded they hang up on us! And have stopped answering their phone altogether. Our credit card company is now fighting with them. Do Not give yourself the same trouble! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! There are also entire windows with the glass totally blown out and caution tape covering most of the rooms on the back side of the hotel. The entire place is incredibly sketchy and not at all a safe place to be, especially at night. So disappointed that Fairbridge Inn and Suites would allow this! So disappointed that Hotels.com and Kayak and so many others would promote! Please avoid at all costs!!

I was told that my 3 night stay charged at check in would not be refunded if I left after first night. I put in an official complaint with Choice Hotels, the manager Danny Patel stopped the ability for me to put in a review that the public could see. The lodge is the second floor of a small building with a Antique Store and the breakfast room. The room I had was a small bedroom which had a shared bathroom in the hall. The room was clean and comfortable with a small flat screen TV with cable. There is no closet and very limited storage so a multi day stay would be challenging. The bathroom was utilitarian and could have been warmer. The only real issue I had was that the heat for the room was either on and very warm or off and too cold. The staff was nice and the breakfast was fine if nothing special, but there was bagels, cereal, OJ and coffee.

THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE SCAM!!!…read more I booked The Twilight Lodge on Wednesday 9/6/23 via their website, they charged my credit card on Thursday 9/7/23. I booked it for one night, check in on Saturday 9/23/23 and check out on Sunday 9/24/23. I started to call the lodge a week after I booked as I had a few questions regarding the shared space and fridge. There was no answer no matter what time of the day or night I called. I continued calling them everyday from Monday 9/13/23 until morning of my check in Saturday (9/23/23)- still no answer. I started panicking and freaking out as we were already on our way driving there from a far place. I googled the lodge to find any other contact information other than what was provided on the website and on yelp. I came across a cellphone number and a lady picked up. She said the LODGE IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED AS OF 9/5/23 and there is no way any bookings were made. I provided her the booking confirmation email which was sent to me the same day I booked on 9/6/23 and I provided my cc statement which shows the Lodge charged cc the following day on 9/7/23. She kept saying how that's impossible however I have all the proof! (Emails and cc Statements). The email was sent to me through her website and her email address. And the charge was made the next day after booking so someone did it. She said she will give me my money back and never did instead she completely ignored my texts since now. She is an absolute FRAUD. They still have their website up and all these travel sites are still showing this lodge. The Twilight Lodge is closed as of 9/5/23 and they are still allowing you to book with them and stealing your money. They scamming people! FRAUD! It's almost 3 months now and The Twilight Lodge still hasn't refunded my money. My cc company keeps saying to contact the merchant but in this case the merchant is unresponsive!!!! Sad to see the same issue happened to someone else as per the review. This place need to be investigated.
