Been to most of the Jimenez family's "Casa de Jimenez" Mexican restaurants located in various towns in Riverside County CA. First time at this Perris venue so my review is for this particular day in Perris. We arrived at lunchtime to find the spacious dining room already partially filled. As we entered we were guided to an open booth and our beverage orders taken. We had ordered the Casa Jimenez Molcajete at another one of their locations and having enjoyed it immensely, chose to get one to share again here in Perris. I have sampled many examples of molcajete bowls both in Mexico and various spots in the US. Some were exceptional, that were hard to improve upon, while others were quickly forgotten. Our server brought some fresh chips and salsa to munch on while our food was being prepared in its mini volcano. We both found the heat level of the salsa to be too high for a general restaurant salsa. Others here have mentioned this as well, so a reduction in the heat scale would be an appropriate change for most but the hottest heat lovers. Before long, our boiling volcanic cauldron arrived and looked as impressive as I remember. We immediately attacked it savoring the excellently marinated carne asada which was as good as one could expect. The chorizo sausage was equally delicious and quickly vanished. Two versions of shrimp were present, a nicely prepared garlic style and a bacon-wrapped style. The garlic shrimp was very good, but the bacon version was pretty blah. I believe this must be an American thing as I have never seen it in my travels in Mexico. The chicken was flavorful but needed some additional time in the marinade to fully develop the flavor one would hope for. On the green side of our molcajete we found perfectly grilled Mexican onions, fresh jalapeños and generous strips of fresh nopal. All very good. Several good size chunks of fried cheese were also being bathed in the excellent broth that all this had created. A few relatively meager avocado slices adorned everything else and quickly became lost in the cauldron. Most all the molcajetes that I have enjoyed had significantly more avocado than at Casa Jimenez and when I mentioned this to our server she said we could get more avocado for an up charge, but this was the regular way they make it. Our beverages were topped off regularly. We found the restrooms to be clean and fully stocked. Four boiling stars for a good, but not exceptional version of a molcajete that will see us easily returning to the Perris CA Casa de Jimenez. Fix the overly hot salsa, don't be so skimpy with the avocado and five stars is within easy reach. read more

2nd time here. Its a hit or miss on our orders. Mix tostadas no seasoning and stif octopus. My chicken salad had a hair on my cut avocado and Cadillac Margarita was over filled witout a room to add the shot of grand marnier. Which had a terrible taste...too strong. Left it all. read more

The food is always great. We eat here about once a week, weather its dine in or togo. However their customer service absolutely sucks. Today we placed a togo order the server Perdo C took our order. After picking it up we realized we were missing items. I called back checked we were properly charged for it, because it wasn't packed. After letting him know we were missing items. He said it wasn't ordered and that he couldn't even ear the order when i placed it. So he just guessed and packed what he thought was ordered. I repeated back our receipt and told him not even that was packed. Rather than offering to at least get us the missing items. He says that sometimes they forget things and that's just what it is. Wow! We were surprised and delighted to find Casa Jimenez. Hands down I had the best chili Riano I've ever had in my life, and I tend to order these everywhere I go by the way. Because I'm vegetarian I checked and found out that the refried beans do in fact have lard in them but if you ask for the boiled beans you will find these are an excellent substitute that they are happy to make. . They're very flavorful. They didn't have many other vegetarian options listed on the menu, but when we inquired a little further the waitress was happy to accommodate us. We ordered the fajita burrito and instead of meat they replaced that with guacamole which made an amazing burrito. Excellent, efficient and friendly service and a full bar. What else could you want?! I will go to Casa Jimenez everytime I am in Perris. read more

Snuck in through the bar entrance on a Saturday night. Bartender sat us at a bar table. The bartender was our server. We were starving. Chips & salsa were great. Salsa had the right amount of spice. Sad they did away with the all you can eat menu but nevertheless we enjoyed our meal and time together at this restaurant. We went on Valentine's Day so there was a bit of a wait but we didn't mind. We just browsed deal busters while we waited for them to call us once our table was ready. Waitress was awesome. She was on it. Our kids food came out first thing and the plates were adult sized. Our two girls could have shared the Dino nuggets with fries and still had plenty to take home. Luckily I brought coloring stuff cause they didn't have anything to occupy kids. Chocolate milk isn't included with the kids meal (wish we knew that when ordering lol) Food was good and service was exceptional. Surprising for how crowded it was! Ever since we moved to Perris, this has been one of our favorite places. They are family-owned and everyone is always so accommodating. There is so much to choose from here! My favorites are: - the Molcajete!!!! So sooooo good a little bit of everything - the Camerones al mojo de ajo (if you love garlic like me you will love it so so good) - the Asada plate! The food is overpriced but still good (most things) i've been coming here for years and years so i've seen a lot of changes in workers and the place itself but it's still a good place, nice servers most of the time (coming here as often as we do, you're obviously gonna run into some inconveniences) i also saw a dead roach in the restroom once a few years back so that's why the point is being docked (also the price, but i get it with the recent remodel) the horchata and beans are bomb tho can't lie. the food takes over half an hour to come out, that always stays the same with every visit, some way longer than others. read more

Thank God for Casa Jimenez for setting up canopies outside to allow us to enjoy your food during this pandemic. I was hesitant to come to Casa Jimenez because of the last experience I had at one in my hometown but I was starving and the place I wanted to go to was closed. Boy was I glad that I strolled into here! Our server was Roger, he was extremely attentive and nice, i tipped him 20% without any hesitation. The food was fresh, and cooked in a timely manor. The chips and salsa given was delicious. I honestly had nothing bad to say about this place, if I am ever back in the area I will definitely stop by here.
