Very Friendly Family Ran Clean Restaurant! On the corner of Nuevo and Lakeview. I had Asada Street Tacos they use so much meat I had to use a spoon to eat the meat that fell out while I was eatting my taco. The seasoning was on point notoverdone, with the cilantro or onions. Meat was the main ingredient in the tacos. The salso they serve with the chips was so tastie I could of ate it with a spoon well I kind of did with the amount I put on my tacos. I came here based on reviews. It is very small inside. It's a hole in the wall place and if you're coming here after sunset it's hard to see where to park because the parking lot is dark. If you pay with credit card they charge .50 cents. They also sell beer . Also big fat men driving big trucks park however TF they like blocking other parking spaces, I was getting threatening looks from one of them. As I'm waiting for my food a homeless person just came out of the bathroom with wet hair. Now for the food, I ordered the carne asada nachos, shredded beef burrito and 9 tacos; 3 asada, 3 chicken and 3 Al pastor. The nachos had a mystery meat that I was not able to chew, my son agreed with me. The shredded beef burrito was delicious according to my husband. The tacos were good but I've had better. Second time at El Comal, I stopped for lunch. I had the pupusas (squash & cheese) for an appetizer and it was great. Had the Salvadoran tamales for lunch they were fantastic and full of pork & veggies. The masa has good texture. Was not packed like my first visit. Visited El Comal for the first time today. Their whole menu looked amazing. I had the super nachos! A bed of chips, topped with beans, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and mouthwatering asada. I ordered their menudo sin grano, my husband ordered birria de chivo, and my son ordered the sopes, they bring out chips and salsa when you sit at the table both the waitress and waiter were very nice and kept checking to see if we needed anything I should have gotten their names, but they were both very attentive. The food isn't spicy but they bring a spicy oil chile that is bomb and you spice it up too your liking. The sopes were really good and filling and they make homemade corn tortillas in front of you and bring them to your table right of the flat top grill, even their horchata is made their. If your in the area it's a must try, the place is small but gets packed on the weekends and they social distance the tables. read more

Best authentic Mexican dishes!! My husband and I come here weekly. We absolutely love their food. We get the huevos rancheros and their delicious. The huevos azteca are even better but we just gave up meat. Their plain tacos of asada are also yummy. Handmade tortillas on the weekends!! This is why we are here weekly to enjoy the food and the people. This is a family owned restaurant. The owners are great people. Their kids work here at times which I think it's a great way to teach them responsibility and work ethics. The kids are also good people. Their daughter is getting ready for college which is great to hear her excitement. Don't be turned off because it's not a fancy looking establishment. This place is clean and their food is great don't focus too much on the looks. On the weekend theirs a guy selling hats/caps. He is a retired jokey with a great story. While we waited we were given piping hot corn tortillas fresh off the comal! It reminded me of my great grandma's tortillas in Tijuana. I ate here once and am not inclined to return. The food was cold. I ordered Chili Verde and was disappointed. It was not room temperature, it was cold. I like hot food hot and this was just not even warm. My daughter ordered a chicken taco, it did not taste bad, it simply had no flavor. Chicken is pretty dry but this chicken was dry enough to choke on. The one upside was the homemade flour tortilla's those are amazing! If I were to go again it would be simply to order some tortilla's and take them home to use. Space is very limited and not handicap friendly.
