This place was great! We were greeted by 2 Friendly & Happy ladies, who took my name and said there was a 10-15 minute wait. They didn't have a bar to sit & wait at, but the sweet hostess said she could take our adult beverage order and bring them to us while we waited. PERFECT! Give ME an Adult Beverage anytime and I can wait for hours. We started pulling out money to pay and she said, do not worry about paying for these, we can just add them to your bill when you're seated. Genius and yet PERFECT! I ordered a Margarita swirl with Tajin on the rim and it was so good!! The hot sauce was flavorful, the chips were crunchy and a good weight to hold the salsa on top. The Queso was a bit bland, but I added the hot sauce to it and then it was Muy Bueno I ordered the brisket plate for dinner, which I assumed was going to be like shredded brisket tacos like I've ordered many times at other places, but it was more like cubed brisket meat.... Still Great tasting, but I pictured it differently. I made (cubed) brisket tacos, using the flour tortillas with some lettuce, tomatoes & hot sauce and it was YUMMY. Their charro beans were super tasty too. I feel like this is an authentic and true Mexican food restaurant, with friendly service and great prices. Definitely going back when I'm in town again.

Great place for some Mexican food in Abilene. I ordered the steak plate which came with a 6 oz top sirloin, cooked perfectly medium rare, two beef enchiladas, rice and beans for $12.95. The prices are very reasonable here. The steak was delicious and the enchiladas really hit the spot. I also tried their crispy taco from my sons plate and it was delicious too. Their salsa is very good with just the right amount of heat and spice. The service was very good and we really enjoyed our visit. We'll definitely be coming back here next time we visit Abilene.

Average Tex-Mex fare, but I am spoiled being raised with Tex-Mex cuisine from Austin and San Antonio.

Food is generally bland, except for the fajitas. In a town with many Mexican restaurants, it doesn't stand out.

Food: The signature Lavender Oat Milk Latte was really good. I felt like the latte was a tad too sweet for me, but my husband enjoyed it. My girlfriend and I are tragically long distance, so we decided to meet in the middle for our first halfway date. I never thought I'd take a day trip to Abilene, but for her and for us, I gladly drove the two and a half hours. Our first stop was at a beautiful coffee shop in downtown Abilene called Majestic Coffee Shop. It was our meet-up spot. The outside has a green rustic sign reading "MAJESTIC" that really grabs your eye, alongside the red bricks wrapping around the building. Inside, the space is beautiful. The dark brown wood walls give the place a sense of warmth, mixed with the abundance of potted plants and the black magnetic menu board listing all their options. There was also a chalkboard sign decorated with Halloween characters that showcased their fall menu. The space even had a few tabletop arcade machines, which enhanced the vibe quite a bit. My girlfriend and I both ordered a hot cinnamon roll latte, mine with oat milk. After we paid, we sat down and waited a few minutes longer than expected, even though no one was ahead of us. I thought it was fine. I don't think anything about this latte grabbed me in any direction. It was sugary, and the flavors definitely overpowered the coffee, but it wasn't bad by any means. I think Majestic has a really cool space overall, but I wasn't super impressed by their coffee. I'd come back just for the atmosphere, though. RIYL: Tabletop arcade games

They were cleaning the store, saw us, and immediately all walked into the backroom. We were left standing there for a few minutes, unsure of what to do. We felt bad about showing up so late, but didn't realize they closed at 7 and figured it wouldn't be a huge deal. Finally one lady emerged and asked what we wanted with an attitude. My friend asked what kids drinks they had and she flipped the kids menu around and tapped it. No words from her. We ordered our drinks. I didn't tip because I instantly picked up on the hostile vibe. The drinks were not great. We got them for our husbands' and they said they tasted off. We've always had a great drinks and mostly friendly service. This was just uncomfortable and uncalled for. I've worked customer service and get it. If it was 10 minutes before close, it would have been a different story and we wouldn't have even showed up. Right after we left, another couple entered and we wondered if they recieved the same service. Both our husbands complained that the drinks tasted "off" compared to normal and told us the Catclaw location was usually rude to them. Not going back. The judge ely location at least attempts to be polite, regardless of how swamped they are.

Monks wasn't on our busy afternoon itinerary, but once we saw its cute storefront, we knew we had to stop. Outside is their tarp sign, and on their windows was a touch of Halloween-themed decor. We immediately detoured to Monks and got in line. For a Saturday during midterms season, it was packed and there wasn't a single table available. There is plenty of seating at Monks, but it was truly full. Their coffee bar is long and narrow with touches of dark brown wood and black. My girlfriend, unsure what she wanted, asked the working barista what she recommended, and she suggested her current special (I love when specialty drinks are curated by individuals on the team). Her selection was an Irish Cream Mocha with a Caffè Ristretto shot, which she got iced. I ordered my standard lavender oat milk latte, but iced, which is abnormal for me. Being out in the sun made me want something more refreshing than a hot beverage could bring. They offered two sizes for iced coffee: 16 and 20 oz. My coffee was pretty good. I'm a huge fan of nugget ice, which is what they serve their iced coffee with, so I was already a fan. I also really enjoyed the flavors of my girlfriend's coffee after having a few sips. She seemed to really enjoy it. The merchandise section was really cool, with unique mugs and coffee-themed candles made in partnership with Abilene Candle Co. Monks will be a must-stop next time we are in Abilene. We were impressed by the staff's attentiveness, the excellent vibes of the coffee shop, and, of course, the high-quality flavors of the coffee.
