This place has a lot of empanadas lots....however they are made with a Brazilian twist which is pretty good. Had chicken and cheese it was ok the beef empanadas are really good. Only empanada lover's will understand how important is to have the perfect combination of the perfect dough with the perfect filing. Casa do Pastel hit super high score by having both! Not only that they also have an incredible list of variety of different filings, were are talking, cheese, beef, chicken, shrimp, pork sausage, jerk beef, Dulce de leche, guava paste... The list is almost infinite! That is so good! It is a small store with space to sit down inside, it's very simple with nothing special about the decoration, because they actually don't need to worry about it, since you are a lot more busy reading their long list of empanada options to choose your order, than worried about what art they have on their walls. Their service is on the counter where you place your order and pay for it, they are attentive and they fry your empanadas after your order so they come super crunch for you. The best part is the price that vary from $2-$4.50 (this last one is for the "super empanada" (huge on size and with all ingredients inside!). Also available you will find fresh smoothies, freshly squeezed sugar cane juice, different soups like pork ribs and corn soup, and collard greens/sausage/potatoes, the typical coxinha (fried dough with shredded chicken breast filing), and other fried croquettes. Let me start by saying there establishment is very clean. I ordered a beef and cheese pastel, and a guava and cheese pastel. They were both really good in flavor. The only reason I won't give this place 5 stars is I think the dough to filling ratio is off. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for more filling. There pao de quejo was good and so was the coxinha. They definitely have a good concept, I will return next time in Florida. read more

Authentic Brazilian style empanadas served with traditional filings. Outside of Brazil, these are the best I've had. I grew up in Brazil and used to eat these almost daily. (Even though they are typically considered street food, they are served everywhere you go in Brazil.) For first timers, I recommend the heart of palms and cheese pastel to get a taste of the most traditional pastel. For those willing to venture out, try the Especial Pastel. It has a plethora of filings, but I assure they all work well together to create a savory delight. Wash your pastel down with a can of guarana, the Brazilian soft drink of choice. They also served fresh squeezed sugar cane juice. It looks like dirty mop water, but is actually very sweet and refreshing. This place also serves up other Brazilian delicacies, i.e. feijoada, pudding, etc., but in the half-dozen or so times I've been there I can never bring myself to get anything other than the pastels. The restaurant itself is on the small side, but very clean and well maintained. It can get a little crowded during typical rush hours. The staff speaks mostly Portuguese, as does everyone else who goes there, but speaking English is generally not a problem. read more

These are literally the best pastels in South Florida. I sometimes have a craving for them and I have tried many different places in the area. These are so good that they taste like the ones I would have when visiting my family in Brazil. They have so many different types and as someone who doesn't eat meat I was definitely able to get different varieties. I brought my Brazilian mother here and she absolutely loved this place then told all her friends. Keep in mind most of the food is fried but the oil that they use taste "clean." I don't eat fried food often because it makes me sick but this place I do not have that gross feeling after I eat it. It is very fresh. Edit: (4/5/16) My mom still vists and request to go there. Unfortunately I ordered two pasteis which the order went through the kitchen to be made whoever the guy that claims to be one of the manager didn't make it....only two customers were at the location after 15min waiting I asked about the order then the cashier comes back and tell me it wasn't been made it at all...so I asked the so called manager... which seems to not give flyin damn....he didn't even gave me an apology for his mistake...terrible customer service so I got my money back and left it... avoid that place. read more

Try the coxinhas with cheese and the pamonhas with cheese. To die for! Coxinhas...chicken broth and flour dough stuffed with seasoned chicken and cream cheese...delicious. Empadas...mini chicken pot pies. Pamonhas sweet. Sort of tamale but sweet and with cheese. Brigadeiro....chocolate balls. All the cakes are kick ass too. Never had anything I didn't like. I am Brazilian and I am always craving coxinhas, pasteis e Guarana. Casa do Pastel is almost an hour away from Miami so I only go there if I am traveling north (and I have made it my stop every time). Several months ago I went to the one off I95. The pastel's dough was thick and I remember eating only the filling and promising myself I would not divert 10 minutes again to eat there. Fast forward to yesterday: like a baby delivery that you forget all about it and you do it again, I stopped at the one in Margate. Granted I got there close to 6pm and they close at 7. I had the only esfiha on display. It was dry an hard, probably had been setting there all afternoon. One bite was more than enough. Then came the pasteis: they reinvented the palmito with some green sauce. No good :-( The passion fruit juice was watered down. I bought 2 frozen soups to go: chicken and couve (collard greens). Nothing like I remember a Brazilian chicken soup to be: bunch of rice, few sliced carrots and 4 cubes of chicken breast on a broth of water and Maggi. Did not have the couve soup yet but not holding my breath it is going to be good either. The cheese pastel was good and they couldn't screw up the canned Guarana so the 2 stars go for them. read more

The food was great, place was clean but, the customer service was just horrible, the lady that started to pick our order did not even look at us, her coworker had to correct her a few times and her attitude over all was just hostile for no reason what so ever, we asked to speak to the person in charge and she gave us our food instead completely disregarding our inquire, so we just got our food and went to seat down and eat it, I can only say that training goes a long way and the owner of this place should take notice, my advice to the owner is to get their employees from the Coral Springs location and bring them to this one to train this employees specially Laune the person that made possible for us to give only two stars in this location, due to her attitude towards patrons. read more

This place has been very good for the most part. Food and service mostly really good. The last time I went though the pastel was not good. It looked like it was drenched in oil. It was especially disappointing because I brought guests there telling them how good the place was. Also a few times we went there looking for one or two of our favorites but they said they did not have them ready and would not be making anymore even though it was sometimes 2 hours before closing. This is not so much a criticism as they may have business reasons for doing this so much as a note that I wish they would make those items available. As for the items, here is a breakdown of items we tried and what we thought: Coxinha was good Pai de queijo- good Beijinho/ coconut sweet. This place was so delicious! After passing by it numerous times, I decided to stop in and give it a try. The menu is posted clearly and everything is written in both english and Portuguese, so you don't have to worry about not knowing what to get. I tried 4 different pasteis: cheese, shrimp, shrimp with catupiry and shrimp with hearts of palm. All were super tasty, and call me a weirdo, but I liked the cheese the best. It was only 1.75 for the cheese (cheapest) and the most expensive (shrimp and hearts of palm) was $2.25. Overall, a great place to have a tasty bite, and if you wanted to make a meal out of it, you easily could. They also sell salgadinhos, which looked really tasty, and the desserts looked super tasty.
