Since I only needed enough food for two and didn't want to do the whole cooking all day thing, I got a premade dinner that consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and butternut squash - plus gravy and cranberry sauce. The portions/serving sizes were huge - had plenty and then some, leftovers for days!! We got it a few days early and put it in the freezer to keep...Took it out two days before eating time and let it defrost in the fridge. Transferred everything but the turkey to pots/pans on the stove for heating instead of the microwave and put the turkey in the oven day of. It was super easy to reheat everything and get it to temp. I had concerns about the mashed potatoes as those can be weird sometimes but they reheated perfectly. Everything tasted SO good, full of flavor, and very delish! The turkey was very moist and tender - like fall apart and the flavor of the gravy, and sides were all excellent. I think this was probably one of the best turkeys I have had. Definitely want to try the outpost farm again as I am sure everything they have is great. I was very happy with the choice and outcome and it made our Thanksgiving meal like a home cooked meal minus the mess and all the cooking lol.

We were a little nervous to try it since it is known for being upscale and expensive, and we did our research beforehand. We are giving Persimmon five stars, but no place is perfect. The restaurant was clean and the bartenders were extremely well trained, personable, and attentive even on a busy night. The food was exceptional. Although the New Year's Eve menu was limited, every course exceeded our expectations. We shared appetizers, entrées, and dessert, and even asked for cannolis that were not on the bar menu. The bartender made it happen, which made the night feel extra special. It is definitely pricey, and the portions were smaller than expected, so most dishes are not ideal for splitting. I think there is potential there but it doesn't hit the mark and when Michelin does come to Rhode Island, they are going to have to step their game up if they want more than 1. We were sat in the back dining area, near the kitchen, which I love because I love watching people work in an open kitchen. You'd think I'd hate it because it makes me think of my own job but I think that's why I like watching so much, to see how other people work. Our server was casual and relaxed and very personable. She gave good recommendations and really made us feel comfortable and engaged. The problem was service was slow. There were so many servers standing around and chitchatting (including ours) but we never got a water refill and we didn't order as many drinks as we would have because she didn't come by very often. There really was a lot of standing by the kitchen and not touching tables. Also, food service was slow. It took 20 min between first set of cocktails coming and the apps. Second course came 30 min after the first. Our main, which was supposed to come with the second course came 10 min after the pastas. Dessert, which we pre-ordered, came 30 min after the steak. This was a long meal for no reason. The food was excellent. The tartare, the black pasta, the agnolotti and the steak were absolute perfection and tasted amazing. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the dessert. Which is so disappointing given that I am a pastry chef and that we had to pre-order it. It just wasn't good and didn't live up to the rest of the food. The pastry wasn't cooked all the way so it was soggy and a bit raw, the cherries were flavorless. And it was ugly. The pastry person needs to practice making quenelles. It also took forever to get the check. We waited 20 min after the dessert to be able to leave.
