Lynwood Park - Outdoor basketball court

I'm new to the area and I go here to play basketball. There are indoor and outdoor courts, and can…read moreget busy at times. The indoor courts cost $2 to go in when theres open gym. The gym is great, great backboards, and would be perfect if it wasn't for the floors. It's hard to plant or change direction/do any type of movement without having your feet slip, so this feels really dangerous at times if you're trying to play a game. I would recommend just shooting around or playing very casually if playing indoors. There are 2 outdoor full courts with 10' rims on one end and about 9'6" on the other end. These courts would have also been perfect if it wasn't for the short hoops at one end. I'm really not sure why it was made this way, but I usually go here to play halfcourt. Other than that, there are really good single rims and above average backboards (especially for an outdoor court). The flooring here is nothing like I have ever seen before and it grips really well! It also feels a little easier on the knees than a traditional outdoor court. On a nice day it can get REALLY packed so you might have to wait for a court or try to play pick-up. There are also 2 public tennis courts in the area that can also get busy. They are really well maintained, but it can also get busy on a nice day!

This park tucked away in a neighborhood far from any major road is a pleasant surprise! I found…read moreLynwood Park and Recreation Center during early voting last month. Because I couldn't find any open parking spaces and people were lined up outside the recreation center, I ended up leaving to go to another polling place. Lynwood Park is on Osborne Road, and you either know exactly where it is, or just accidentally stumble upon it because you're completely lost. It's definitely in an out of the way location, but that's what makes it nice. The second time I came to this park, it was to practice my tennis serves. The park has two tennis courts that are well maintained, especially for being in a public park. The courts are first-come, first served. Tennis players are generally polite and will not hog the tennis courts. While I was there for a little over an hour, I noticed that there were playground equipment for kids to climb on, a covered picnic area with tables, two full sized basketball courts, a swimming pool and a multi-use grass field. I didn't go into the recreation center, so I have no idea what's in it. I haven't been to Lynwood Park often enough to get a better feel of the vibe, but I'm sure I'd be using most of the facilities constantly if I lived nearby. My picture didn't actually do any justice to the appearance of the park because the park looks much nicer in person. Drop me a note if you want to hit some tennis balls with me!

Park at Pernoshal Court is a well maintained park in Dunwoody. The parking lot isn't that big, so…read morefinding parking in the lot may be a challenge. Street parking is available. It looks like this park is more focused on being sports-related, with a full basketball court, two half basketball courts and a pickle ball court. If there is a line to play basketball, there are benches for players to sit on while they're waiting. To one side of the courts is a big green space. To the other side of the courts is a big pavilion, providing a nice shaded area that has many picnic tables. I think there are restrooms on the backside of the pavilion. The pavilion can be reserved through the City of Dunwoody, and there is a fee to reserve it. If there isn't a reservation for the pavilion, it's first come, first served. On the other side of the pavilion are bbq grills, another big green space, and a big terraced seating area. The Dunwoody Trailway, a nice and wide concrete pathway which is great for running, bicycling, skating, pushing strollers, etc., goes through the backside of the 5 acre park, and provides a convenient way to get to Georgetown Park in one direction and Brook Run Park in the other direction. Also towards the rear of the park are stationary exercise equipment. Besides the limited parking lot spaces, other drawbacks to this park are that there isn't that much shade (other than under the pavilion) and there isn't any playground equipment for children. Like I stated at the beginning of my review, this is a well maintained park! Because of the new appearance that the City of Dunwoody maintains, I thought this was a relatively new park, but it's actually about five years old. The parking lot pavement looks new, the sports courts look new, and the pavilion and picnic benches look relatively new. I'm glad that visitors to this park, and, obviously, the City of Dunwoody take pride in this park!

The layout is fun and the park itself is beautiful, especially in the winter when the leaves are thin and you can actually see the baskets through the trees. That said, the course could really benefit from clearer signage. Several pads weren't well marked, and we even had to skip a hole because we couldn't figure out where it started or ended. Since we only had time to play about half the course, we found ourselves spending more minutes navigating than throwing. I can't imagine how tough it must be in the summer when everything is fully leafed out -- it's probably like searching for a needle in a haystack. Still, it's a solid course in a great park, and with better markings it could easily be a five‑star experience.

I had no idea this was an annual thing and am happy that the city of Dunwoody does this and am definitely looking forward to next year's lights. While there were a ton of people, there was plenty of parking and I appreciated that there was an officer there to keep the flow of cars moving along. The park itself had several playgrounds and I loved they were padded. The kids had a blast on slides, swings and running around in the wide open space. The bathrooms were clean which always makes things even better. The kids had a blast playing with all the other kids and this is definitely a playground I'd come back to visit.

From there, you have to walk around the lake, then through the recreation center to the "almost other side" of the park to get to the playground. You can drive south the the entrance and park along the street or one of the small parking lots much closer to the playground. That said, the space is great! It is large and spread out. There is a covered pavilion and lots of other seating in the form of benches. There are 4 distinct areas, with swings in multiple areas. The slides are high and large and there is a zip line and spinning cage item that is a bog hit with the kids. The ambiance with the tall tress brings this playground home for a 5-star review!
