Outstanding service as a matter-of-fact exceptional service. The salsa and sauces were very good but be careful if you don't like it hot. All of them had a bite. Now the food was less than iffy. Food is top notch and deserves a five. Usually service is a five also. Today we went there for lunch and they were not busy at all with a total of five tables. We ordered two meals and a side of guacamole to eat with our chips before the meal. About five minutes before we received our meals I asked for the guacamole from another server. I was annoyed because we were charged for the guacamole but were not able to eat it with our chops before the meal. I generally tip at about 30%, today was 15%, for this reason. Best Restaurant in Grants Pass. I had eaten here when it was at its earlier location on Redwood Hwy. My parents liked the tacos, so we would stop in occasionally to grab a few before or after rafting the river. Always good. One day my mom ordered the tortilla soup, and that is what hooked me on this place. What really won me over is one day when I had a craving for the tortilla soup and I stopped into the store to get some. They had sold out, and the owner ( Jose?) apologized profusely, said they ran out earlier than usual, but gave me a menu with the phone number on it, and said that if I called in the morning when they offered the soup, he would make sure to have it for me if I came in later in the afternoon. They have gotten a lot bigger since this happened, so I dont know if they still do this but the fact that he was so willing to do this for me, someone who wasn't a very regular client was very impressive. They moved to a more visible and larger location on Redwood Avenue,and I never really got a chance to stop in as I moved from Grants Pass to Eugene, Oregon. My parents still eat here frequently,and on a visit my mom told me I had to try the torta. I wasn't thrilled about it, I don't go to a Mexican place to have a sandwich. We decided to split a couple entrees just in case I didnt like the torta. I got sopapillas, she got a torta. The sopapillas were decent, but the torta was amazing. The bread was delicious, the meat was good, it was huge and the price was good. A visit to Grants Pass isn't complete until without a stop at Casa Amiga. I have gotten several people to try the tortas, and everyone has loved them. Definitely a must try! I would have given this place a 4 star, because I don't typically give 5 stars or perfect ratings, but this place more than earned the extra star because they are extremely consistent, it is a family business and it shows. The staff is amazing, they are great to their customers, and the are delicious and priced well. It does get very busy, but it is worth the wait! read more

Once was once too often for us. Heard a radio announcement for this place shortly after moving into the area, thought we'd give it a go. The torn seats at the booth, along with the dirty, sticky open salsa bottles should have been a warning sign but... I am picky with my Mexican food and this is one of the few places I can eat Mexican food when I visit my Oregonian family! Due to Covid the wait is a little longer than usual but they are the first to tell you this when you call it in so you can't really get mad about it! There are cheap dollar store put together pinatas every where. Like you hit your head on the paper ... If you are over 5 '10 ...Tonight they had a country music two man band playing. Which were ok. Loud as hell but ok. It took a while to take our order... I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito. I got this massive tortilla stuffed with ... Ingredients? I cut it open. I take a bite of it. Im still not sure what I ate to be honest. Well half of it. The "carne asada" was boiled beef. Similar to the stuff you get in Arbys sandwich ... Bland flavor-less and chewy. The rice was pinkish rice ... Again bland and flavorless... The beans ... You guessed it bland and lacking any thing ... Cheese, sour cream etc all I guess were normal... It tasted like this burrito was made for a retirement home... Ive had microwavable burritos that tasted better than this. Chili, peppers, lard, salt, pepper,something guys... It pays to have good friends in the area. We were introduced to this place last night. Absolutely wonderful, authentic mexican and american BBQ. The BBQ is only on Fridays. The regular mexican menu is all week long. This would be 5 stars if it was a little nicer surroundings, but it is in a strip center, and typical of many mexican dining experiences. But the food is awesome. Our friends talked to the owner about giving us one of everything so we could really sample the food. So I will rate the entrees one by one. Tamales - good, have had better. but nice and fresh Carne Asada Taco - awesome. These folks know how to make really wonderful tacos, and serve them with fresh lime, and great salsa on the side. Carne Asada Burrito - this is usually my favorite dish at many mexican places. Here it is huge, and delicious. Definitely a meal. 3 meat Quesadilla - oh this is just the best I have ever had. So yummy and flavorful. Mexican sandwich - now this has another name on their menu, but since it is the only sandwich offered, you will know what I am rating. It was also superb, on a grilled cuban style bread, with avocado and cilantro and several meats. Another meal in itself. Enchilada - chicken - it was good. Again, not memorable, but almost everything else was. On your first trip, I would definitely recommend splitting a few things with friends so you can try several of there wonderful dishes. They don't advertise. They don't have a listing in the phone book, and your GPS won't even have them but they are at 1720 Redwood Avenue, Grants Pass. The enchildas were adequate, the rice and beans reasonable and in good-sized portions. The tamale was a bit disappointing - it was nice and big, and had a lot of meat, but hardly tasted like a tamale. Maybe it was cooked too long, and it could have used more masa, though having a lot of meat would seem like a bonus to a lot of folks, and even to me sometimes.
