A careful walk through the store reminded me of the legendary Wilkes Bashford on Sutter Street, back in the 1980s. Like the original Wilkes, Button Down offers beautiful Italian and European styles, along with famous brands and their own private label. They also carry luxurious accessories for men and women. Greg, who had also worked at Wilkes in its heyday, helped me put together an entire ensemble. It was like a trip back in time, with the same quality, personal attention and service that is nearly impossible to find anymore. Button Down is located on Sacramento Street in Presidio Heights, and it is well worth the visit.

Fortunately the staff was very upfront and helpful about the lack of vegan options in the jackets, though they noted some pants were patch free. So no fault on Self Edge at all! Happy they do what they do and maybe some day these companies will offer an alternative.

I hadn't noticed before or perhaps I wasn't paying attention because no, it had been there for almost a decade. And inside there weren't really the t-shirts I had originally thought I was interested in meeting but there were all these other tops and bottoms and quiet chill super helpful and engaging three then four shop people that wanted me to simply give them my wire transfer information so they could swap out all my savings for really cool clothing. I almost did! Though at the last minute elected to just procure a trousers and a t-shirt that wasn't even remotely what I had been considering but which also was actually perfect so there you go. Simply, you should just pop in. It doesn't matter your mood. If you're blue, your frown will turn upside down. If you're already having a good day, the rest will be better. If you've been cocktailing try really hard to not just volunteer access to all your accounts with an invitation to have at it. All their wares are high-quality, thoughtfully built, for everyday or special occasions, looks that maybe not everybody else is sporting. Worth a special trip and for sure a pop-in if you're traversing the shady side of Fillmore on a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

Terrible Return Policy - Beware! My experience with Cary Lane and its return policy has been nothing short of a nightmare. Firstly, they offer exchanges or store credit within a ridiculously short 7-day window, exclusively for full-priced items. But here's the kicker - you better keep that original receipt and price tags intact! It's like they're stuck in the Stone Age, oblivious to the convenience of digital records. And don't even think about returning sale, marked-down, or any other items they've conveniently labeled as final sale. It's a blatant attempt to trap customers into keeping unwanted products. To top it off, no refunds are offered! Seriously? In this day and age, a company that refuses to provide refunds is a red flag. Buying a 100 dollar pair of somewhat gothic style pants, the original owner guy I purchased from was kind of cool. we chatted things up, he kind of gave me some pointers for sf fashion spots, talked to me about some of the other items around the shop (including a 1000 dollar concealable leather pouch). I usually like to give things time... evaluate places before sticking with them... so opting to wait on anything else... I make a trip to japan (where I purchased another gothic style pants from the yellow house... which were even more disappointing that Ceiba. Details are in the review I made for them). Also, mind you, both pants are elastic and the material is a little thick, they were both very comfortable. after coming back, I had to get both pants repaired. the ceiba pants I've had to have repaired twice (but it still has more damage on it that I haven't gotten repaired. the pockets are falling apart for one) now while the japanese yellow house pants I've had to have repaired 3 times now. It's rare that I need to have my clothes repaired... mostly its seams coming undone and I can usually fix those myself.... usually... but these were more that the fabric was giving out. the seams were strong but the pants were fraying or giving out around the seams. I cant just sew that back in. I've gone to Ceiba twice to try to talk to them about the material, the pants, repairs... and just to find solutions. the first time for them to give me advice on to handle it myself... and the second time, after SEVERAL times having to pay to get them fixed, to see if maybe the item was just bad or something and finding more vendor and patron solutions. both times it was a woman this time and both times she could not help. I do not recommend people come here for clothes, its a nice name place to show off a bit and pretend to be more socioeconomically established but little more than that.

I have shopped a couple times, even hit up their little spot at the Cal Academy of Sciences for their Nightlife events, and every time I have had any interaction with anyone from the SFP family, they have all been unbelievably friendly and helpful, the sort of people you feel good about doing business with. Short while back, as Giants were rolling into the postseason, I checked in to see if they had any of the Giants/SFP tees available in my size, knowing sometimes things aren't in enough stock online to show as available, but might exist in the store. They were out, but mentioned they were in the process of printing more shirts. Not only did they remember me, but reached out to let me know when they were available. Small thing, but meant a lot. Quality of this sort is rare anymore, and when you combine that with really exceptional product, you can't beat it.
