We left well fed, and impressed with the experience. Not sure when we will be back in Red Deer, but this place will be on the docket for sure!

It was very inviting and a low stress low volume escape from the cold online most of the loud pubs and bars. I'm sure in the summer it's a great escape from the heat! Tollers Bistro's food is certainly worthy but since each of its previous five ratings are fives, I'll go against the grain with a four, as there is always room for improvement. Located in a small strip mall, it's a high ceiling open space that lends itself well to safe dining. Tables are nicely separated and booths have guards between them. However, there is no sanitizer available at the entrance and I noticed the waitress seating customers without masks, so a little more effort regarding patron's safety would be nice. The food is excellent. Great menu, lots of choice and really interesting. We did some sharing, fish tacos, sweet potato fries, and cauliflower bites. Fish was battered, not normally my favourite, but was light and really tasty. Maybe the best sweet potatoes ever and the cauliflower bites are a meal, lightly breaded and tasty, maybe too big to be shared with just two people, most of ours came home. Staff is friendly and attentive. Waitress didn't know the beer list and suggested I "go look", which is fine but there weren't that many to remember. She did, however, bring us a takeaway box without being asked as she noticed the cauliflower bites still lingering on the plate. I can agree with the previous fives, but there is always room for improvement, at Tollers it's just some attention to detail. Great spot!

On my way to be seated, I walked past the lunch buffet which looked liked there were plenty of tasty offerings. However, I went with a recommendation of the steak sandwich. First of all, it's not a sandwich. It actually is a steak with two half pieces of garlic Texas toast that comes with Cole slaw and a side. For my side, I opted for a tossed green salad. The quality of the meal was just so so, but my experience of a nice wait staff and the price ($11.95) elevated the rating to 4 stars.

After ~3 years & trying several things on the menu, I've learned to stick to 1 thing. The chef's salad, but even then you're not guaranteed to receive the same sized plate/bowl or that it will contain the same ingredients from visit to visit. I've tried sandwiches, wraps, potato skins, burgers, desserts, soups, etc. Many times the dishes are overcooked, so they're dry, dark in colour, & sometimes a husk of their former selves. If they're not overcooked, some are just not particularly tasty. Asparagus soup. A "chocolate" dessert that tasted very un-chocolate-like. Etc. The dining area has quiet corners which makes it an ideal restaurant for conversation. Something not easy to come by, these days. So, I enjoy the quiet, dimly lit corners, the pleasant staff, and try to eat before meeting friends. Or I order the salad...

Easy to pop into from the highway 2 and since it's part of a strip mall area there was plenty of parking nearby. We were seated right away, the space is quite large and bright. Very sunny vibes. The single person bathrooms are nice but there are only 3 of them I think. I right away was eager to try their fancy coffee - in particular the caramel tiramisu latte (topped with caramel drizzle, whipped cream and cinnamon sprinkle ($5.99) but this drink was a bit of a let down in my opinion. Over the top sweet and since it's served in a glass cup it doesn't retain its heat, gets cold fast, and is actually kind of small. I get that it's a latte but the sheer sweetness makes me wonder is there any coffee in it? Okay I've given you the worst part the food was not disappointing! We ordered the Hot honey chicken Benedict ($19.99) and this was divine! The spicy and sweet combo was excellent and I loved that it got on the Hashbrowns too! Good serving size and eggs were perfect. We also had to order some pancakes and asked for the most popular, which was the signature stacks Cinnabon cakes ($15.99). These were huge and terribly delightful! Fluffy and the sauce combination of cream cheese icing and whip and icing sugar- wowzers! Very good and a reason it's a popular choice. We also got a kids pancakes ($8.49) and added a side of sausage ($2.49). Overall a nice spot for a spot of breakfast.

She never brought a kids' menu, disappeared for long stretches, and ignored our repeated requests for water--it finally showed up right before we left. Even when we asked other servers, we were met with, "I'm busy, you'll have to wait," rather than any willingness to help. When we politely asked Kya about her attitude, her only reply was, "Do you want the manager?" The rudeness and lack of care from beginning to end ruined what should have been a pleasant, celebratory morning. We won't be back.
