You would think I'd give any place that would serve me a beer an automatic five during these COVID times. Tollers Bistro's food is certainly worthy but since each of its previous five ratings are fives, I'll go against the grain with a four, as there is always room for improvement. Located in a small strip mall, it's a high ceiling open space that lends itself well to safe dining. Tables are nicely separated and booths have guards between them. However, there is no sanitizer available at the entrance and I noticed the waitress seating customers without masks, so a little more effort regarding patron's safety would be nice. The food is excellent. Great menu, lots of choice and really interesting. We did some sharing, fish tacos, sweet potato fries, and cauliflower bites. Fish was battered, not normally my favourite, but was light and really tasty. Maybe the best sweet potatoes ever and the cauliflower bites are a meal, lightly breaded and tasty, maybe too big to be shared with just two people, most of ours came home. Staff is friendly and attentive. Waitress didn't know the beer list and suggested I "go look", which is fine but there weren't that many to remember. She did, however, bring us a takeaway box without being asked as she noticed the cauliflower bites still lingering on the plate. I can agree with the previous fives, but there is always room for improvement, at Tollers it's just some attention to detail. Great spot! read more

How can I describe the lemon poppyseed doughnut? Which I am assuming would describe all their handcrafted, fluffy-doughed, not really wanting to share, perfectly fried without lingering oils, incredibly tasty doughnuts. The lemon glaze had just the perfect amount of tart! Was a difficult decision choosing a doughnut flavour. The iced coffee with English toffee was just perfect for this sunny Alberta morning. This is the last stop on our trip south. Red Deer was looking very congested with construction and traffic so we continued to Lacombe. Tollers Bistro is where we stopped. My first observation was that there is no boring food here. Take my wrap for example. It's called the Snake Bite. If you love peppers you'll love the Snake Bite and it's not as hot as the name suggests. You will get a couple of bites of banana peppers so it definitely has some life for people, like me, who love food that excites the senses. My only disappointment was that it was messy due to lots of sauce. The server brought lots of napkins so that helped. I didn't order a coffee so I can't comment on their brews. My wife and I both enjoyed our wraps (she had the chicken wrap). They have WiFi and provide full table service. It was quiet enough to talk with ease but there was some music by ABBA that was pleasantly playing in the background. We made a good choice coming here. I'll certainly come back if I'm in the area. OMG. Another hidden gem in a small town of Lacombe, Alberta. Just Chad their coconut Currie dish and it was fantastic! I also had their feta and cheese pastry. Again fantastic. How does this happen in a small town central Alberta known for steaks. The is is incredible. For you foodies visiting Calgary or Edmonton this is a must visit place for good food. Trollers Bistro is named after a dog breed.. which I have to say at first threw me off a little. . When I walked up to the door my first thought was is this a dog cafe? Then I walked in the doors of this stunning little cafe. The ambiance in there is cozy and welcoming. The seating, the lighting, and the fire place are all begging you to come in and never leave! And that is exactly how I felt. We walked up to the counter and already waiting for us was the great staff. She answered all of our questions and recommended her favourites as well as customer favourites. I decided on a blind man blackberry passion fruit beer and a California BLT with homemade chips. My spouse chose a water and a Chicken Pesto sandwich as well as a chocolate, vanilla, pistachio, and caramel donut. While waiting for our food, we grabbed our drinks and headed to our table. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed a water station packed with free flavoured water which of course I had to try! The service here is delightfully quick, which is fantastic when your favourite food group is sandwiches!! I first tried the homemade chips, they are so salty and addicting. Once I had one I quickly finished the bowl. I then took the first bite of the California BLT and it is honestly mouth watering. The amount of flavours they managed to compress into this sandwich has got to be some kind of magic. The cheese, the jam the bacon they all marinate and sing so well together. It was an unbeatable sandwich... UNTIL I TRIED THE PESTO CHICKEN!!! The pesto chicken sandwich is so juicy, the pesto was dripping off my fingers and the cheese was so gooey I wanted seconds! I have to praise the chef on this one. Those sandwiches are more than amazing! You should be proud! I want to come back for more because like I said. . Sandwiches are my favourite food group, and if they are apart of yours too I suggest coming here !! Next I tried the pistachio donut..And literally I did not want to share any part of that donut. It was so fluffy and dense with the pistachio icing and clumped pieces on top it was more than words can even describe. 100% I suggest coming here, however.. a little piece of me did not want to share my review in fears that you too would love it as much as I did. Overall experience was amazing. The staff you guys are delightful and the cook I give you all the praise you have created some of the BEST sandwiches I have ever put my tastebuds on! A delicious hidden gem! We were traveling through on our way from Edmonton to Calgary and stopped here and were so happy with our choice. Lots of great homemade sandwich, wrap, and salad options. A great kids menu, too! And the bakery case looked loaded with delicious treats (although we were too full from our lunch to enjoy one). The service was very good, the bathrooms were very clean, and the overall space is just so lovely and inviting. The prices are very reasonable too! read more

The longer you wait to eat here the more you're missing out! I saw someone's review that said "never knew what fresh doughnuts were until Tollers bistro." Couldn't agree more! I don't even like doughnuts and these were out of this world. Pulled pork was delicious too, lacombe needed a place like this, with people who know good food. read more
