Pauvre Carvel nombre 1413, still not much love from the Yelp community even after Gerald's insightful review. No matter, this location is still alive and surviving despite the renovations to this mall that have at this point even removed it's sign. I was visiting a neighboring business and it was not even evident that this shop was open. But once I got to the door I saw signs of life. Upon entering I was greeted by the friendly cream-ista(tm) and was assured by its impeccable cleanliness that standards were still being adhered to. I made my selection from about 20+ choices of hand scoop( that she was pleased to inform me are all made here) My medium cup of chocolate peanut butter/ vanilla chocolate crunch really quenched my heat and hunger. This product was fresh, tasty and creamy. Either flavor I would purchase again. At this point in the review we come back to the concept that this company really needs to remarket itself. This is good stuff people. Sure, it is not aided by hip graphic artists or ad men. And some people don't think that Carvel is cool anymore. But I beg to differ, the creamy treats are literally freezing they are so cool. No seating and slightly inflated prices( compared to other Carvels) brings the overall score slightly down. Sad, forlorn Carvel Ice Cream Supermarket No 1413. It seems it gets no love. Not even corporate has "claimed" this business as its own. It just sits there in the old strip mall on Rt. 33 in Mercerville, New Jersey. The lights go on and off. Employees punch in and punch out. Customers find their way in, consume, and find their way out again. Yet, not one tip nor review despite its existence there for several years. Unloved. Makes me want to go in and buy everything and throw it a big party and invite everyone who passes by. Maybe some helium balloons. Maybe the Goodyear Blimp overhead to show the way. Maybe a has been celebrity to shake hands and pose for selfies. Maybe ice cream cakes for every 8 year old birthday boy and girl in Mercer County. Just gotta do something for this sadsack of an ice cream emporium. Truth is, the product is decent, and the iconic soft serve as good as ever. This story has legs. With a good kids' author and illustrator, "The Little Carvel Store No 1413", could become the stuff of legends. And, all of us who have stopped in to wish it a good day and taste its sweet creamies would be part of its epic discovery and rebirth. Game? UYE!!!

The soft serve ice cream is delicious and they are quick on service. They had a large supply of decorated cakes.

Keeping my "blinders" on, my mission is to get a few of those famous crispy bakes for my daughter's 26 birthday instead of buying a whole cake. My attendant, Eimau, (hope I spelled correcty, if not, my apologies) was so pleasant and his patience servicing me has me leaving with not only a few bakes, but cake pops, cupcakes and macaroons!! You have to try this nice place, so good. Thank you all for your service.

I returned to Lilla Vanilla after a mediocre visit a couple of months ago. I was initially on the…read morefence due to the two viral crunches I tried--only one was enjoyable--and I wasn't impressed with the service. That said, I don't believe in writing a place off after a single average experience, so I decided to give it a second chance. This time, I ordered two different viral crunches along with a croissant. Unfortunately, the results were disappointing across the board. The Mixed Berry Crunchy was cute in presentation, but that was its only redeeming quality. There was no bold--or even subtle--mixed berry flavor. At $10, it felt wildly overpriced and not worth the calories. Next was the Lemon Crunchy, which is supposed to feature a lemon blueberry flavor. As someone who loves lemon, I had high expectations, but once again it was bland and forgettable. Since this is a bakery, I also tried a fresh croissant and asked for it to be warmed. The staff accommodated the request, and it smelled incredible. It was warm, light, and flaky--but sadly, the flavor fell flat. A light brushing of butter on top would have gone a long way. For me, this is strike two. Unfortunately, Lilla Vanilla just isn't worth the money or the calories. Based on my experience--mediocre service on the first visit, bland and overpriced featured items on the second, and only neutral-to-slightly-positive notes on the croissant--I'd rate it 2 out of 5 . I seriously contemplated giving them 1 star but to be fair, the viral crunchy presentation was appealing and the croissant did have good texture (even if the flavor missed).

Many wonderful pies, cakes, cookies, and of course, their famous donuts. I particularly enjoyed their long donuts - perfectly fried, fluffy, filled with vanilla cream, which was smooth and just the amount of perfect sweetness. They do lots of custom orders, and do a lot to support the local schools. I recall seeing nice music themed cookies for sale which were in support of the middle school music program I believe. Very nice. We were lucky enough to meet the owner; she was enthusiastic, helpful and the perfect person to continue the joy of this bakery. Lots of parking side and back. Very much looking forward to our next visit!

While the interiors are modest, they make great use of the little space they have with a bakery counter and tables with a selection of seasonal/holiday treats. They had a decent variety of Easter themed cupcakes, chocolates, and cookies when I stopped in. Since it was my first time there, I asked the staff member what she recommended, and she beamed at me grabbing me a long cream-filled donut. I also got a piece of vanilla crumb cake since that jumped out at me. Both were a solid 4/5, with the cream-filled donut getting a slight edge in the taste department. The vanilla crumb cake was a huge slice, ideal for sharing or splitting up into multiple pieces. Service was friendly and prices on par with other area bakeries, with both items running just under $6 total. While I probably wouldn't venture out of my way to visit again, I would happily return if I was passing through the area in need of baked goods or treats, as I'm happy to support local businesses like these.
