This Carvel has delicious Chocolate Crunchie ice cream. It's kind of highly priced, but it's a good place for a treat.

This location has been dark and locked up for a few months. Not sure if it is permanently closed or just waiting for summer....

The women working were so nice in offering suggestions and giving me time to decide since it was my first time there. I settled on their Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte, Apple Cider Loaf, and Vegan Blondie. The latte was really good. I've never had a latte with pieces of cereal in it. It was surprisingly delightful. The Apple Cider Loaf was good. I loved the cinnamon sugar topping and the loaf was perfectly baked. Now, this Vegan Blondie... Holy Cannoli. You need to run here and get this!!! You will thank me later. The flavor is just phenomenal and one of the best blondies I've ever had vegan or otherwise. -Clapping. I will be buying more of these.

The two girls behind the counter were so sweet, welcoming and helpful. I told them I've never been and they took the time to go over the menu and make suggestions. I ordered a toasted marshmallow latte and an açaí bowl. I didn't get a toasted marshmallow taste, but it was still good. The açaí bowl was very good. They have a little menu that you can pick and choose what you want in your bowl. I added some chocolate chips and coconut. It was so fresh, flavorful and filling. There's ample seating and WiFi available. I was able to get some work done while in a peaceful environment. For my medium latte and açaí bowl it was about $15. I'd say that's very reasonable. I will definitely return next time I'm in the area.

Crisp, delicate, creamy, savory... big enough to share!!!!!! They also make some killer coffee beverages! I won't say anything negative but the rest is just not for us... not fans of much or anything else and we have purposely had different things each time to explore the menu. Our palates are not aligned and that's fine - more and bigger is not always better. Cute inside and beyond welcoming staff.... Love the biscuits!!!!!!

A tale of two trips (with some pie in the middle) creates this review of Hometown Bakeshop. You see…read moreI completely forgot to write this place up back in July and after visiting them only a few days ago (for a different reason), I realized a review needed to be penned. A four star compilation with mostly positive things to say. Let's get baking. Well, that summer trip actually involved breakfast. My wife and I trekked over to Centerport (on her birthday actually), for a quaint breakfast inside this small bake shop. The menu and its enticing Insta pics really brought us here and so we got both coffee and a morning meal. That aforementioned menu is quite vast and with so much to choose from, we decided to split "The Famished Breakfast" which included all kinds of tasty options (eggs, bacon, pancakes, fried cheese, tostones, and more). To nitpick, some items listed and some that we got weren't exactly the same, but to also be fair, everything was delicious. Equally delicious might be their variety of savory pies. They have so many to choose from, but you have to either call ahead or be lucky with what they have. Two made their way home with us (the piggy mac and the chopped cheese) which were consumed shortly after our visit with both being dense and rich, but definitely tasty. Not as equally delicious might be their coffee. Yeah, I think I've turned into a bit of a snob as these days I'm looking for legitimacy in the coffee itself and not just some pretty pics and cool flavors. Though Hometown has quite a variety of options, I'd say that if you're looking for some strong coffee, this wouldn't be the spot. If you're looking for some great breakfast and crullers, well... And therein lies our most recent trip: crullers. Hometown doles out a plethora of cruller options, but only on Sundays. Get there early (like pre-opening by 15-20 minutes at least) to be sure you snag whichever flavors they're going to have (check Instagram). Knowing we were going to share with a bunch of other people, we chose a dozen to try, but heed my words, these things are gargantuan! Also, they won't last long in preserving so if you have any leftovers, don't expect them to be good past the day you bought them. But in the moment while they're fresh, you'll be in cruller heaven after one bite (especially if you try the death by chocolate one). Overall, hometown Bakeshop is a legitimate place for everything they concoct in an oven (throw in stovetop too). Yeah perhaps their coffee sounds better than it tastes, but that might just be me wanting something a little more coffee forward. Beyond that discrepancy, I'd gladly return to Hometown for breakfast, pies, crullers, or who knows what else? Come and get some!

I wanted a funfetti cake and the one they had readily available had lovely sunflowers on it. The woman working was so sweet and put some writing on the cake for me. The 6" cake was about $50 dollars which seemed a bit high, but I think its pretty standard for a bakery. The cake itself was very moist and absolutely delicious and I would give it an A+. The cake I purchased for her birthday from another local bakery last year was really dry, so I was pleasantly surprised by this cake. The buttercream frosting was where I felt the cake fell a bit short. It tasted like pure unsalted butter and had almost no sweetness to it, so we ended up just eating the cake center and leaving the frosting. Unfortunate for an expensive cake but based on the other reviews I'm wondering if it was just a one time error. I don't think I would get another cake from there, but the rest of the baked goods and empanadas looked awesome so I will definitely be bake to try those!

If you haven't heard of them yet, you definitely need to check them out. They're famous for their incredible "Pizza Crumb Cake." Bonus: You can even ship their crumb cakes anywhere, which makes for an awesome gift. A fantastic talking piece, delicious treats, and worth every mile of the drive. Check out my photos below!

On 12/20/25, server Gianna recommended the Chocolate Raspberry Crumb Cake because it is the most popular one other than the original. So I ordered a slice. The topping was to die for! It was buttery, sweet, and crunchy. The cake itself was moist and sweet. I will be ordering a whole pizza crumb cake for my next holiday party. It will certainly be a hit! Gianna told me that there is a $5 minimum for debit/credit card payments. The bakery is in a small commercial space--holding no more than 10 customers at a time, but there is plenty of free parking in a huge lot in a relatively-large retail strip.

We tried a mix of drinks and pastries starting with the Nutty Shakedown which was rich and smooth with a great pistachio espresso flavor. For pastries, the double chocolate cookie was warm and indulgent, the pistachio croissant had a strong authentic flavor, and the lemon bar was bright, sweet, and easily a favorite. The biggest positive was the staff. Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. I ordered a cold brew with nonfat milk but was disappointed to learn that nonfat was not available, so I went with 2% instead. Unfortunately, the coffee was bitter rather than smooth, which is normally one of the qualities I enjoy most about cold brew. I also tried the blueberry scone. It was just OK--perfectly edible, but not particularly memorable. For comparison, the cranberry walnut scone at Gregorys Coffee is considerably better. Brewology offers an extensive selection of creative drinks and attractive pastries, so other customers may have better luck with one of the specialty beverages. Still, the prices felt a bit high for what I received. Between the appealing setting, interesting menu, and exceptionally kind staff, there is potential here, but the coffee and scone did not quite justify the cost for me. Overall, it was a mixed experience.
