I had the BLT... stacked with fresh tomatoes, fresh crunchy lettuce, and a ton of bacon. The bun was fresh, soft and tender! The coffee was rich and strong... just what I needed. While visiting NYC, I strolled the city alone hungry while my family slept. Carve was close to our hotel, and looked like I could grab a quick bite alone, so I gave it a shot. Although I had already eaten Salmon lox bagels while visiting, their "Time Square Bagel" was hard to turn down. Their bagel was good! Nice and toasty, with that New York flare. However, I felt that there was not enough smoked salmon for the whole bagel. Other than that, the coffee was also very good. Restaurant itself is not the most attractive place to grab a bite, but I still enjoyed sitting and people watching out the window. It was pretty busy, so I figure a lot of people are here often, mainly to pick up food or grab a quick bite. read more

I stopped in after a Broadway show since it was nearby and open. The place was very busy, and the ordering process was a bit confusing. I ordered two slices. The pizza was bland and nothing really stood out. This spot might work if you are very hungry and looking for something quick, but it wasn't memorable. read more

We visited three times during our stay in NYC. Came recommended by our hotel and it didn't disappoint. Great food, and great service by the staff. This is a small cafe on the corner of a street near Times Square. Food - It was good, though we only had the items that were free with a ticket from Hotel Edison. Of these, the Homefries were very good, and you can request a special drink instead of the 2 options if you would like. Super convenient if you are in the Theater District. Excellent stop for something savory or sweet : lots and lots of pizzas (large slices, thin crust),, variety of toppings), baked goods and desserts (cheesecake!), sandwiches and breakfast items, too. We stopped in a couple of times for a slice of cheesecake to satisfy a late night craving. Carve Café is a counter service café serving a variety of food items, and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We came for the pizza, which was delicious, with a nice thin crispy crust and plenty of melted cheese and toppings. The NY cheesecake was also a tasty end for dessert. For a side note, there were quite a few people ordering the custom-made salads, that all looked very fresh and made to order for each customer. Overall, a very nice café with fast friendly service, and a wide variety of food. We definitely would return on our next visit to NY City. Carve has great-looking baked goods and sandwiches that I couldn't partake in because they don't have any gluten-free bread, buns, or pizza. The only gluten-friendly lunch item was a build-your-own salad, which was pricey for me at more than $13. Add to that an $8 Naked smoothie (almost twice what I'm used to paying for them), and you have a fresh and tasty but very expensive meal! Service was fine, neither extremely polite nor extremely impolite. It had a nice pizza place atmosphere. No quiet corners to sit in and have a good conversation. read more

This sandwich shop was very close to our hotel so we popped in to get some breakfast. I ordered the Times Square Bagel which had smoked salmon, tomatoes, scallion cream cheese and capers on it. It was very good but the bagel was a little burnt. The pricing wasn't terrible for NY either. Not really a great place to sit and dine there as it has a small eating area. We just needed a little something to start our day and saw this place on the corner. Friendly greeting and then learned they have no decaf coffee. Opted for a cappuccino and a chocolate chip muffin. The pepperoni rolls were good, they heat them up in the pizza oven after you order. A bit greasy but to be expected. I went to see a play with my Aunt (well aunt-in-law, but still my aunt). And before the play, we met up for lunch. She suggested this place called Carve. I haven't heard of it until now. There are 2 locations literally within a block from each other. I went to one and waited for her. When she came, she said there was a larger location a block away so we went to that one. Seating is scarce so if you see an open table, grab it. We got lucky and got a table. I will say, the line to order is a bit confusing. If you want pizza and soups you order on one side. If you want salads and sandwiches, you order in the other side. It's a little weird. I almost wasn't too sure where to order from. But I ended up ordering in the right spot. I got the steak sandwich. My aunt got the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. The portion was larger than I expected. We both couldn't finish and took home the leftovers. But I was surprised to see that they put fries into the sandwich. I actually liked that. The sandwich was already good but I liked the added bonus of having fries in the sandwich. I am really glad that my aunt suggested this place. I got a chicken parm sandwich for my husband after the play ended and he really liked it. I would 100% go back. After a few beers and a not very large dinner, I wanted a slice of proper New York pizza. That's the thing here in Manhattan so let's be a tourist and get pizza. Plain cheese, of course! Well, it was good. Not fabulous but good. A nice sized slice that was made with the right amount of sauce and the right amount of cheese. Just a little drippy with grease as it's supposed to be. I judge the crust to be a little too thick. Sorry, y'all. A bit crazy with people waiting, ordering, paying with not very much organization. That's okay, it's part of the charm.
