Let's start with the good: Quick and easy buying process. Literally just clicked a few buttons, boom, you have a car. Pick up was relatively smooth aside from a few quirks with staff. The negatives: The car was not clean. Like it looked like it went through a dirt storm and the interior windows were covered in dirt. There were a few things that weren't pictured about damage to the seats, I think they edited the photos. Above all, the 12v battery needed to be replaced so that was not ok. Easy fix, but it should have been fixed before we got it. The biggest issue was the backseat sensor. It was broken and they just buckled all of the belts so we wouldn't notice. Luckily we figured it out right away and it was covered by the warranty. Main take away: Get whatever car you get from carvana inspected by a 3rd party immediately after you buy. Make sure it's within the 7 day period so if anything is wrong you can get your money back. read more

The car was delivered with a **new dent that was not present prior to delivery**. The delivery team acknowledged the damage and told me they would report it, but unfortunately, that was never done. I was then told by Carvana's insurance that they would **cover the cost of the repair as well as a rental car while the vehicle was being repaired**, but that has still not been resolved or honored. This issue is ongoing and has required a **significant amount of my time dealing with customer support, following up, and trying to get something resolved that should have been handled immediately after delivery**. The entire process has been frustrating and disappointing, especially considering the damage occurred during the delivery process and I was initially assured it would be taken care of. read more

Carvana: Buyer Beware I honestly feel like I was sold a lemon by Carvana. I purchased my vehicle on July 18th. Less than three weeks later, on August 6th, the vehicle broke down with what appears to be major engine problems. Unfortunately, I was just outside Carvana's 7-day return window, so Carvana essentially washed their hands of the situation and referred me to their warranty company, SilverRock. That's where the nightmare really started. I've been getting the runaround from SilverRock since the day the vehicle broke down. The vehicle is now at its THIRD repair shop, and I'm currently waiting for SilverRock to even approve the shop to perform another diagnostic. Meanwhile, I'm stuck without a reliable vehicle and still dealing with the financial obligations of a vehicle that I've barely had long enough to enjoy. And here's the part that really gets me: I was so confident in my purchase that I actually paid my first car payment 16 days early. ‍ I thought I was doing the right thing. I never imagined I'd be fighting to get a vehicle repaired less than three weeks after buying it. At this point, I don't want another excuse or another referral. I want a replacement vehicle, my trade-in returned, or the contract voided and the value of my trade-in and the money I've spent so far returned. I would much rather take my business to a reputable dealer and start over. Carvana may have made the buying process convenient, but convenience means absolutely nothing when you're left holding the bag after buying a vehicle that breaks down within weeks. Buyer beware. My experience with Carvana and SilverRock has been absolutely awful, and I would strongly encourage anyone considering buying from Carvana to do their homework and understand exactly what happens when something goes wrong after that 7-day window closes. read more

I had an appointment to sell my old car I had since college. I arrived 10 minutes prior to the appointment and sat inside to wait as nobody came out to acknowledge me or assist me. There was also no visible employees in and outside the building perimeter upon arrival. After nearly 20 minutes of waiting, another 2 customers came in to purchase a vehicle. By then, still nothing. Nobody's come out from the office area. Once a third set of customers arrived some 10+ extra minutes later, someone finally came out the back room and immediately acknowledged and attempted assisting them. By then, I had sat patiently for nearly an hour and well past my appointment time. I got up and left as did the other 2 customers who were there to buy a car. Mind you they were willing to purchase a Porsche in stock. The customers the employee decided to assist first didn't even have his driver's license, registration, or title available to sell his car. I ended up selling my car via getting the car towed from home instead of dropping it off at the Carvana location. Yes, it costed me $40 to have that done. But the process was way easier, faster, and the tow truck driver was pleasant and professional to deal with. Didn't realize Carvana sold lemons until they sold me one. I bought a Subaru Outback that they claimed was in great condition and had passed their inspection. I also traded in my existing vehicle as part of the purchase. Within the 7-day return period, I took the Outback to my trusted mechanic, who put it on a lift and immediately found severe rust throughout the undercarriage. He was shocked by the condition of the vehicle and told me it was worth about 5% of what I paid and should be scrapped for parts. The fact that Carvana either missed or failed to disclose rust this extensive is completely unacceptable. While Carvana did take the vehicle back, they did nothing to compensate me for the time and expenses this caused. I had already purchased an insurance policy for the car and was not reimbursed for that expense. I also spent hours arranging inspections, paperwork, customer service calls, and transportation because of a problem Carvana created. The worst part? I don't trust the Carvana inspection report, there is no way this car was "detailed." Every exterior seam and crevice is dirty--like it sat in the desert for a few months--the windshield has about four or five chips and cracks in it, and the cabin smells like the ashtray of a heavy smoker. It also did not get washed after transport because I had to scrub the dead bugs off the front and back. On the mechanical side, the rear differential leaks and the Carvana Warranty does not cover it. read more

We are actually very dissapointed this time around. We bought a car from you over 2 years ago from Carvana and had a beautiful experience. the purchase, the delivery was wonderful, everything happened just as we were told. BUT this time, not so much. First the car we wanted was there, the price had risen a little before we pulled the trigger to purchase, that is on us, the inspection they did missed a tire with a hole in it, and those tires must be replaced not fixed which my Carvana Advocate did not seem to know. that made it another week wait and they didn't seem to understand the annoyance with rescheduline the delivery, no offer to refund any of that cost due to them not doing a good job inspecting the car. Then came the poor quality of the delivery. the Advocate did not even wait for us to return from a very short test drive before she drove away. I would suggest not signing anything until after the test drive and getting some instruction on how the car works before signing anything. Now its the deal with getting the front license plate holder installed. SilverRock and the Lemon Squad and who ever actually is to install the thing, as it is a requiredment under our state law, has been one nightmare after another. It's been over a week since I called to see about getting this thing installed and my first contact with the gentleman who is going to take care of it. He actually just left and was delightful and I greatful that this process is over. Notification also came today that the registration and plates will arrive within 5-10 days. So that part is in the hands o the MVA. I will not go into the next car purchase with such hight hopes and expectations of the exceptaion service and care, that we received the first time buying from Carvana. Do not recommend them. I bought a car from them. First off there was more damage done to the paint than listed. About 8k of damage and I need to replaced front tires and brakes that cost 3k. Second, the engine light turned on of course the second week once the return policy was up. They give you an extended warranty which absolutely sucks and takes forever to deal with. My car has been at AAMCO for a week with no answers of what's wrong with it or if it's even going to be covered. I can't even reach carvana. Horrible experience. For the price I'm paying for this luxury vehicle actually appalled and recommend you go anywhere else. When I took it to a dent specialist they said they've never seen such paint neglect and whoever was responsible for painting over the dents clearing ruined the paint even more. read more

The online process was easy and the car itself was great, but the in-person service was so terrible. We stood in the lobby for over an hour with two young kids while staff repeatedly walked past us and ignored us. We chose Carvana because we thought the process would be quick and efficient for our family, but the in-person experience was anything but that. They said the car was still being detailed when we arrived despite our appointment being scheduled weeks in advance. When I asked for help, an employee brushed me off and never came back. The Carvana app and front-end process were excellent. Selecting the vehicle, completing paperwork, uploading documents, securing outside financing, and linking payment were all easy. Early communication via chat, phone, and email was prompt and professional. The transaction failed due to complications with my driver's license, which was not issued by the state where I currently live (military). Carvana requested additional DMV verification after paperwork and payment were complete. I was initially told the issue would take 2-3 days to resolve. After seven days, Carvana canceled the transaction without warning, stating they could not obtain the required DMV information and could not continue holding the vehicle. Customer service could not reinitiate the transaction, even though the vehicle remained listed for sale. They also could not provide records of prior interactions or the original purchase agreement, which disappeared from the app when the order was canceled. While both my down payment and shipping fee were eventually refunded, the process took over a week and lacked transparency. If you are paying cash or financing through Carvana and have a driver's license from your state of residence, the process will likely be smooth. However, Carvana struggled with a fairly common military scenario. The concept is strong, but customer service needs better tools to resolve non-standard cases. I would likely pay more at a dealership to avoid the hassle. read more

The vehicle we ordered did arrive on time. We had submitted photo of Drivers License, copy of insurance, etc. at Carvana's Website. The driver said he had to take a photo of each. So had my Drivers license with me and let him take a photo of it. He then wantedxc to see the Insurance paper. Told him it was already uploaded to their website. Called Carvana to Confirm while driver still here. The driver refused to give us the vehicle because we did not have a copy of the ins. in hand. Told him the Manlager said she has it. I used the SLC, UT Carvana. I live in grand junction, CO and Carvana won't deliver or pick up or deliver here. So I had to drive 2 1/2 hours. I think Denver is a bit closer but the weather is typically worse. First of all, not being able to test drive the car is a real bummer. I had to pay $690 to get it shipped there so just to test drive it I had to do at least that vs a free test drive at a dealership. Once the car was in front of me I wasn't able to really see it. It was raining and there's no cover so driving it was not a good experience. So now I'm returning it, though if I had been able test drive it without all the paperwork in purchasing it, I would have much less of a headache. The process itself isn't difficult, but having to pay for the shipping and not really knowing what you're getting is not a pleasant experience. I looked for an option to just see cars that do not require being shipped, but did not see that. The worst part is not really getting to test it before buying. Maybe just me, but for a big purchase like this not being able to test it and get a good look made me feel a bit sick about the purchase. Since I did a trade in I was pretty much left with little option but to drive it back since returning the car doesn't get you your trade in back. I was shopping around for a specific car and found one which had my ideal specifications from Carvana. As this one was labeled as "coming soon", I placed $100 to reserve the car once available. When the car was available, I had 48 hours to complete the purchase to keep my my reservation, however, the car itself became unavailable for me to complete the purchase, with the counter still winding down. With Carvana's AI assistant pretty much useless, I was finally able over a few phone calls on different days to get a rep. who relayed only that some work had to be done on the car and extended my reservation for another two days. Once available, I paid the $990 nonrefundable shipping fee and set up the appointment to pick the car up. The pickup process was fast and smooth and staff at the Gaithersburg location were friendly. This was the only positive of my experience. Over my first drive home with the car, I noticed a knocking noise coming from the car. I already pre-scheduled a 3rd party inspection during my 7 day return period, and brought this issue up at their shop. It turns out that the transmission was dangling freely and loosely, on the verge of falling off on a brace which was secured with only 1 of 4 bolts! The tech was able to bounce the entire transmission and connected drivetrain up and down with his hands with the car on the lift. Carvana boasts on its robust safety inspections and I cannot believe the sheer incompetence from their techs to miss something this obvious. The dangling transmission and mount was not covered with any underbody panel and would have been obvious for anyone to see if they had just simply looked at the car on a lift. My shop luckily found some bolts and remedied this on the spot. They also found other issues - grooved rotors which need replacing, the exhaust resonators were removed, the 2nd coolant reservoir was almost completely empty, an electrical compartment was missing its protective cover and intake mounting grommets missing. In addition, I found the cosmetic condition of the car was also much worse than disclosed on the Carvana listing, which only disclosed 3 chips on the bumper and hood and some wear on the seat bolster. Turns out that the entire bumper is completely peppered in rock chips not visible in the listing. There are huge scrapes in the paint along the entire underside of the passenger side bumper and side skirts. On the interior, the leather dashboard is warped and separating from the dash at 3 places, all of the grab handles are missing from the headliner, and the rear rear passenger lighting control switches are inoperable. What a complete joke of a condition disclosure policy by Carvana. During the 7-day inspection period I tried to mitigate these issues through their online claims process. For the brakes, I was given anautomated notice that brakes are not covered. For the engine bay issues such as the low coolant and missing electrical housing cover and grommets, I must take it to one of their recommended shops for them to look at and file a claim, so I am just ordering my own out of pocket. For the undisclosed cosmetic, I found that I was only able to submit up to 3 claims. I did and was notified that 2 of 3 would be covered. For these, I would have to make an appointment with 3 shops that Carvana lists on the claim. Of course, it turns out that one is out of business and the others do not perform the interior work which the claims are for, so I have to figure out how Carvana/Silverock will let me take it to a place who can. For the scrapes in the paint on the underside of the car, I will not be able to submit those due to the limit of 3 cosmetic claims. In summary for cosmetic issues, Carvana will not disclose nearly the extent of cosmetic deficiencies and you will only be able to submit up to 3 cosmetic deficiency claims. I have not been able to get past Carvana's AI chatbot and speak to a representative to ask if any remediation can be made with me due to the overall poor condition of the car they sold me. My car purchase experience from Carvana turned from one of excitement to one filled with regret, stress and disappointment. Constantly on my mind during the 7-day return period was do I keep the car after sinking almost $1,500 on nonrefundable shipping fees, 3rd party inspection? Do I return the car back to Carvana with the sheer audacity that I paid them a nonrefundable $990 and fixed the transmission for them, replaced some engine bay components and topped off the fluid for them so that they can sell it to another person? Folks, just don't purchase a car from Carvana and do this to yourselves. If you do, always perform your own inspection, ancitipate that the shipping fee is nonrefundable and that the car will arrive in much worse condition than listed with little to no inspection or refurbishment performed, and the claims process will not be effective during your 7-day trial. I hope your experience is better than mine was. read more
