Cartwright does excellent work. Prior to their arrival our walls had been filthy and had lots of holes, dings and chipped paint. They did a thorough job of filling in all the holes and repairing the damages prior to painting. They nailed in the baseboards that were loose. One of our kids bedrooms used four different colors, and the lines where the walls and ceiling and trim meet our perfectly clean, I was even depth of color throughout. The estimator and salesperson Aaron acted more like a project manager, staying involved from start to finish do you to make sure everything was going OK. He always answered his phone and was super quick to respond to all of my text messages. From the very first contact he followed up closely and timely with me. Cartwright Painting did an excellent painting job at a very competitive price, about two thirds the price of other well-rated painters. They filled many many nail and screw holes from years of use, protected the newly-refinished floor, worked hard during their entire time on the site. And Aaron - who was my primary contact at the company - was immediately responsive to any questions or concerns; in probably ten calls to him during the estimation period and job time, I think I only got voicemail once, getting through immediately to him all the other times, whereas most contractors I've worked with - even responsive ones - I don't expect to hear back from until at least a few hours after I reach out. This would've been a 5-star job, except for three issues - the first two of which were caused by a mid-project staff change of which I was only aware after-the-fact: 1) They carefully removed a beautiful hanging lamp so as to make sure it didn't get paint on it, but they lost the screws so I spent about $20 to find replacements and reinstall myself. 2) The bathroom paint colors weren't passed from the departing team member to the remaining painter, so they first painted it all completely white (including the walls), then when I spoke to Aaron about the mixup, all completely green (including the ceiling), until finally getting it right at green walls / white ceiling. Ultimately, it looks great and no visible evidence of the mixups, but this probably added about a day to the work. 3) In painting one area, Aaron asserted that they had completed the work whereas it was very clear that only the first coat had been applied. Not sure if this was internal miscommunication, or if the painter was trying to get out of some work. After I shared some photo evidence. the painting crew came back and did a good job on a second coat. Would I get a bid from them again? Yes. And I think those three issues were one-time things, perhaps growing pains. read more

I called Cartwright and received their immediate attention. They asked that I provide a color match for the lathe lattice-covered pergola that I wanted painted. Two painters arrived early morning and took great pains to protect the house and brick patio. After a primer and two coats of paint the pergola looked great and the area around it was spotless. They were also asked to install a fabric to cover the lattice using material that I had purchased. I was surprised that they arrived without a stapler or nails, Using my stapler and nails that they purchased they did an excellent job except for one edge which had bunched up fabric showing on the underside of the structure due to failure to bring scissors. Using my wallpaper sheers they cleaned up the mess and ended with an acceptable though not perfect job. I can strongly recommend.
