Best second hand children's clothing in town!…read more When I was pregnant with my first child, my mother and I went to EVERY single consignment and used baby/children's shop we could find in Edmonton (about 15 of them)... many of which are now closed due to poor quality. Once Upon A Child stood out leaps and bounds beyond the rest! Their standard for quality is great! They do not accept dated or stained clothing unlike many of the used and consignment chops in town! They have a stamp card that you get stamped for every $10 in purchases... after filling up the card you get 20% off your next purchase. They also carry some new items including Bumbos and Robeez shoes! They aren't a consignment store but rather a used store where you can sell your gently used children's clothing for store credit or cash. If you select store credit to be used the same day - you save the GST on your purchase! They carry toys, strollers, cribs, high chairs, books, DVDs, and clothing! They carry children's clothing up to size 7 or 8. However, I have found that used children's clothing 2T and under is usually of the best quality because wee ones often wear their clothing only a few times - especially one time only holiday dresses. Once the kids are toddlers and running amok and eating grown up foods and growing slower it makes more sense that the clothing would be more worn. For 2T and under... why pay new when you can get close to new at a fraction of the cost?!?

Literally walked right up to what I needed with no issue. Probably would have given a 5 if the staff on floor was a bit more engaging as I did walk by a couple. But if you go earlier or any other time, it's not so bad. I stopped by today to see if they would have anything for my little brother, and now I'm officially done my Christmas shopping. Woohoo, pat on the back for me! I know, I'm nuts. It wasn't that busy today, probably also because I went around noon hour. They had a clearance table of toys first thing when I walked in, and I was so stoked to find some really good toys for $1. Great stocking stuffers! I ended up getting my brother a really cool Disney Wall-E robot toy (no, not from the clearance, silly). I can't wait til he opens it on Christmas -- maybe he'll even let me try it out. That's probably another reason why I love Toys R Us too -- I'm still totally a kid, and I can spend hours here, playing with and looking at kids' toys. They always have a huge section of family board games, and then another for science and educational toys, books, electronic games and dvd's, bikes and outdoor sports toys, and of course the baby section. You can pretty much split the store into two halves too -- boys and girls. The girls section has dolls and is literally this big pink area. It really looks like someone just threw a bunch of Pepto everywhere. The boys section on the other hand, is full of toy cars and action figures. Of course. When it's not so busy, the service is pretty good. It's not hard to find a staff member there and ask them a question. They also have those price-checking machine thingies, where you just stick the item under it and scan the barcode for the price. Very convenient, as many items don't have the price directly on them.

I've found this location to be very hit and miss for variety, sizes, and customer service…read more My most recent trip here was during boxing week. I had ordered about $200 of clothes online for the kids for Christmas in November. Upon my daughter unwrapping one of the items, we discovered that the security tag was on the item DESPITE it being an item mailed to us from shopping online. I came in to the store and asked to have the security tag removed from my online order. The look and treatment we were given, was quite disappointing. Almost as though we were being accused of shoplifting. The woman (who I believe to have been a shift supervisor or manager) was quite harsh in tone and said repeatedly that they wouldn't take it off without the receipt. I suggested to her that we call the Gap 1-800 number so they could look up my order and confirm to her that I had paid because I had long ago recycled all the packaging/invoice in November. Eventually she agreed to just take the tag off, I guess she didn't want to call the 1-800 number but the treatment we received and the tone that we were spoken to was quite disappointing. We had planned on buying some other stuff there that day but my husband was having none of that after our experience. So we walked just around the block to Osh Kosh Carters and Justice and happily boxing day shopped there. This most recent experience would be a 2 star for sure but I'll still give it a 3 overall.

I've been running around from store to store with no luck. I decided to try Roots since it was close. I asked the clerk if there were any leather gloves. She said, "One left". Would you believe they were made exactly for my short, stubby hands? The only problem was the price. $88.00 Yikes. Not on sale. Ugh. I had to take them. They are beautiful. The cash-out procedure is the usual annoying thing. We need your email, we will spam you forever.... Very nice staff. The store is so clean and organized. Much nicer than the one on Whyte Ave. Of course the parking is better too. Sanitation station by the front door.

This is the place to come for Roots clothing in Edmonton. They're not really an outlet in the way…read morethat I'm used to (I live in California), as they had the same styles and selection of current styles that the West Edmonton mall location had on offer. I'm used to outlets offering different lines, albeit sometimes at a lower quality, so it's nice that they are selling the same quality. The main attraction is that they have a sizable clearance section in the back. We all know that Roots can be a bit spendy, so this is the way to stretch your dollars a bit further. Seriously, if I had known about this store, I would have just come here rather than going to the other location first. I got some great deals that I was happy with, and I was even able to use a coupon to sweeten the deal.
