Carter's Brewing is my 162nd brewery. We specialize fiscally decided to hit this one because my unofficial adopted sons name is Carter. We hit Carter's Brewing after another nearby brewery which shall remain nameless but it's initials are Montana Brewing Company. The beers at Carter's are far better than nameless brewing. CB doesn't have any food abs what they didn't spend on fancy stuff they spent on beer. They had a big beer list abd unfortunately we walked in just before closing. I ordered a quick flight of four but since SWPFTD and the "kids" who aren't kids anymore we're with us I got to taste two others. Derailed IPA had good hop aroma abs flavor. Nice little IPA. The Mexican lager was good, although I prefer a little more sweetness in mine. Ebon's coffee brown ale had a strong coffee aroma and flavor. This worked for me. I like coffee flavors in a beer and this one was well done. The Contemplation strong ale was really nice. Consistent malty and a bit of toffee flavors all the way through. Old Rusty amber lager had a hoppy bite at the end that was a bit funky. Not bad, just unexpected. The Switchyard Scottish ale was the highlight. All of the beers were good but this one stood out. Unfortunately they only sell growlers, not crowlers or cans. I know crowler machines are not cheap but they work far better for people like me who may not be local. Carter's Brewing is a great stop if you enjoy good beer. I will definitely come back here if I'm in the area again. If anyone is a glutton for punishment, please, follow my brewery, and distillery, reviews from across the U.S. and beyond! https://www.yelp.com/collection/-8iscFkpiiCI563-FDfwGg and if anyone is wondering who SWPFTD is you will have to check out my review of Black Market Brewing Co in Temecula, CA to understand. Yes, you will need to read into it a little to get the joke but I have confidence in you!

LOVED the chill atmosphere and funky railroad decor. I recommend the sampler. We had 4 samples for $3. This is surely the most outrageous price for such high quality beer! As someone who wasn't a huge fan of Montana, this was it's redeeming feature!

    Excellent board

Beer drinkers unite. Brewery in the raw for sure. Great beers don't always need fancy dressing. Here is a variety of styles great examples of each. The Rye, was a killer.. Thank-you for the memories.

    Great beer on the patio.

Great beer and people! The joint is a bit too small though. Make sure to get there early so you can get a table!

My favorite brewery! The sour beers are amazing, and the hubby likes the IPA. Great chill atmosphere.

Easily the best microbrewery in Billings, and definitely the best place that we went to in Billings overall.

Some breweries in Billings do pours of beers less than a pint but apparently such a request with him seemed ridiculous and asked if I wanted to drink or not with such a small pour. He did give me what I asked but charged a pint all the same. The positive thing with the front counter experience was free popcorn so that was good. As far as the need to charge me a pint when it was actually made a smaller pour made more sense than the attitude because the computer on the register probably didn't have the option to charge that but the flack I got for it was unnecessary. Well, moving on past that I got the Mexican Lager there, simply called Mexican Lager. This is a favorite Lager type for me and this one wasn't bad. Not really amazing but certainly doable. Flavor features with this lager are bready with a hint of lime. The beer was very light bodied as this lager type tends to be. While I appreciated the free popcorn snack the management should at least consider adding a smaller pour option to their register. And of course certain staff not being too opinionated to customer requests.

Great beer. Great prices. Great service. So glad we found Angry Hank's for our date night…read moreout-of-town.
