The ambience is nice. It is in a very neat building. We liked the root beer moonshine. They do not have food options and have a two drink limit, and if you get a flight, that counts as your two drink limit. Asylum Distillery is a nice little place. In the historic district with nearby breweries and cider mill, Asylum offers a change of pace. It has a modern techno-vibe that just works well in contrast to the historic neighborhood. The outdoor seating is a welcome addition. They don't serve food, but have many drinks that might sound like food, at least fruit-food. It'll be a challenge to try them all when new concoctions are available on a daily basis. (The blended raspberry lemon drop tastes like a smoothie and wasn't yet on the menu.) Asylum has its own gin, vodka, rum and moonshine and the menu items are created by the friendly employees. The bartenders are incredible. There's nothing stuffy about this place. The decor is what makes Asylum unique. The pictures and decor on the wall and on the bar itself, must be right out of old-school psychiatric hospital records or a funky Tim Burton movie montage with a touch of American Horror story The photos are weirdly creepy and disturbing. Maybe drinking might make them less so. Once I got past that, or concentrated on the conversation with the bartender and my friend, or just looked out the window, I decided this is a must-visit-again place. read more

I usually never stop at distilleries but I had to give this place a try. They make so many different flavors of moonshine, almost anyone will find something they enjoy. There is a large variety of mixed drinks and the two I had were pretty tasty. I'm not sure why other reviews hate on the decor, it's almost as if they've never seen a themed bar before. While somewhat different, I found the asylum theme amusing and worth checking out. One of the only downsides here is the small interior, it gets loud pretty quickly with multiple groups inside. I'll be back soon to try some of the other drinks! read more

Stopped in to check the distillery on a Thursday afternoon and was met by a great Mixologist, Kelsey. She poured some great tasting drinks and was delightful to talk with during our visit. Can't wait to stop back again and try some different drinks and visit with Kelsey! read more

Had a great time hanging out with Levi on a Tuesday night. He's very knowledgeable about the history of the distillery and a talented bartender. When you visit, ask him how the owners came up with such a variety of flavored moonshines then sample a specialty drink or martini made with orange, watermelon, or mojito mint lemonade! Terrible. Not even greeted upon walking in. Asked what was recommended, as the bartender was walking away to the back I got "all of it is good". Very uncomfortable, my buddy and I ended up putting our menus on the bar and left. Maybe just the one person working there but terrible first experience. read more
