On June 18, 2024, I had my vehicle towed to this shop after speaking with the seemingly professional owner. However, things changed once my vehicle arrived. The following day, I received a call from someone named Brandon, who was profoundly rude and disrespectful. He informed me that my vehicle needed an ECM (his exact words) that modulated my fuel pump, which had caused damage to the fuel pump. According to him, both the fuel pump and the ECM needed replacement, at a total cost of $2,300. When I began asking questions about these issues, he immediately became apprehensive, dismissive, and argumentative without any apparent reason. His voice was elevated, and he told me that if I wanted to come and get my vehicle, I could. I was merely asking questions about the repairs, which I had every right to do. I told him I would call him back and asked how much time the repairs would take. He responded that insurance adjusters usually ask those types of questions, and it was difficult to determine, but eventually said it would take around five hours and that he needed to make some money. Suspicious, I contacted Gullo Toyota parts department and learned that the part Brandon referred to as an ECM was actually a Fuel Pump Control Module (FPCM). The Toyota rep told me he had never seen both parts replaced together in his 30 plus years with Toyota and advised me to get more information, and ask for the modulator reading. Feeling uneasy, I considered having my vehicle towed to the dealer, and reached out to my brother. My brother intervened and the repair costs mysteriously dropped from $2,300 to just over $900. Needing my vehicle, I agreed to the repairs and asked for the sway bar links to be replaced as well. On June 21st, I was informed that my vehicle was ready. When I arrived, my AMEX card was declined for the total amount due because another transaction was pending, leaving only $1,000 available credit. Brandon either didn't know how to use their credit card machine or simply didn't want to. I asked if he could adjust the amount, which seemed to be too difficult for him. I reached out to my sister to use one of her cards and since she wasn't present, Brandon had to communicate with her by phone. His uninformed and unprofessional behavior, characterized by belligerence only escalated. My sister provided him with three different credit card numbers (all clear with extreme limits), which he failed to write down correctly or properly input into their credit card machine, so they were all declined. He became agitated, rolling his eyes, breathing deeply, and eventually raised his voice at me, saying, "when you get it together, let me know. We're about to close," and walked out of the office. When I checked the credit card numbers he had written down, none matched what my sister had provided. I took one of the numbers myself. When he returned, I told him to calm down and focus on what he was doing. He again grudgingly typed in the numbers, and the transaction was completed. His hostile and ignorant behavior was absolutely appalling. At this moment, I just wanted my keys, my vehicle and to leave this demonic encounter. On June 27, I contacted Carter's Transmission about the warranty after paying them $1,179.35 (including a $34.35 credit card fee not properly disclosed). The receipt also didn't mention the ECM modulator Brandon said was necessary. The owner told me the warranty information was on the receipt. When I informed him it wasn't, he asked me to come in to speak with him in person and failed to provide the information by phone. He was very rude and elusive and asked if my car was running. When I asked if they replaced the parts I was charged for with new, used, or any parts at all, his only response was that he was busy and hung up the phone. Mike is aware of his son's very poor behavior because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. In the event of any problems in the immediate future associated with the work they've done, I will handle it through the courts and with the credit card company. The disrespect, unprofessional behavior and racism are profound. I firmly believe in the tenets of the Word of God: "Whatever you sow, you will also reap." I'm planning to have my vehicle inspected to determine the work that was done.
I would not recommend anyone do business with this establishment. read more
