Just an awesome business. Not great to look at as the place looks kinda beat up but Carter is such a nice guy and has been so helpful. My car would not start and he came out to jump it. That was not the problem so he put it on his tow truck and took it to his shop. 30 minutes later he called and told me it was just a fuse. When I went to pick it up the price was still only what he quoted me for the jump start. Pretty amazing. We also bought a car from him for my daughter and he did a ton of work cheap to get it ready for her. Very, very pleased with this business read more

These guys were trying to repo my car and he came to my house and hooked up to my Mothers SUV that was sitting in my driveway like he was going to take it. Then when I came outside he was yelling and cussing at me and trying to get me to fight him. What kinda people do that! He also chased me through Hixson one afternoon nearly causing me to wreck. They need to be out of business for Sure read more

Absolutely horrified by my experience with Carter Towing & Recovery. One of their drivers almost hit my car because he was impatient, then had the audacity to flip me off. When I returned the gesture, he escalated things to an entirely different level--he actually tried to break into my driver's side door. The only reason he backed off was that he noticed I was on the phone. Shaken by what had just happened, my father told me to follow him to get a picture of his vehicle. When we did, the driver saw us and started saying some seriously messed-up things. My dad got out, rightfully angry, and told him not to touch anyone's car again. That's when this guy pulled a gun on us. We immediately said we were calling the cops, and he took off, only to come back after hiding the weapon, claiming we were making false accusations. The police reviewed camera footage and saw that he purposely blocked my car from view before trying to break into it, clearly attempting to hide his actions. Unfortunately, without good footage of the worst part, he got away with it. To make things worse, when we called Carter Towing & Recovery, they **blamed me** for "following" their driver to get a picture--completely ignoring the fact that he tried to break into my car and later pulled a gun. These are very dangerous people. If this is the kind of employee they hire and defend, I wouldn't trust them with anything, let alone my vehicle. Stay far away. Will post the picture that my dad took later! read more

One of their drivers tried to run me off the interstate this evening. He traveled no less then 85 the whole time he was in my sight and was aggressive with everyone around him switching lane over and over. I haven't used there services before and won't ever choose them for a tow. read more

A friend of mine had her vehicle stolen. Unfortunately when the city found her vehicle this company recovered it. I'm gonna keep it short. They sent her to the wrong address, claimed they opened at 8 am no one was there. Then sent her to another location. After being reassured of one price multiple times... she was then quoted another $40 more when she arrived! She specifically asked and they lied! After being called out the manager cursed at her, then physically intimidated her! These guys shouldn't be in business, nor should the city use their service. read more

Know the law before dealing with this business. If your car is repossessed, they CANNOT legally hold your personal property or charge you a fee to retrieve it. They tried to charge me $50 which I refused to pay. Immediately after I refused to pay the employee said I had to schedule an appointment to get my belongings *but* they didn't have any appointments available, which is fraud/extortion. Some advice- record all your interactions with this business and get law enforcement involved if necessary. I recorded my experience and even though I was able to get my belongings I may still pursue legal action just to ensure the people they rip off illegally are no longer taken advantage of. read more

"Dishonest" and "Crooked" are the best words to describe Carter Towing. I accidentally parked in the wrong lot during my first few days of a new job (which was my fault), and I was towed into Carter's locked lot on Dodds Avenue. In my situation, they charge $125 to pick up your vehicle within the same day, but they close at 5:00 PM. So, because my vehicle was in the lot overnight, I was charged an extra $20. I called to ensure my car was still there, and the gentleman quoted me $145. Upon arriving to pick up my car, they tried to charge me $165. Only after some back-and-forth with the individual, he finally agreed to honor their quote of $145. My car was only in their lot for one night, so I suppose this gentleman was hoping I was awful at math or passive enough to let him swindle me. Additionally, they had two large breed dogs freely roaming the lot when I was trying to pick up my vehicle. The individual I was speaking with allowed them to walk around me, smell me, etc. I felt it was disrespectful to allow the animals to encircle me, and the owner should have restrained them. Lastly, just as a testament to how untrustworthy this company is, upon arrival my boss (who gave me a ride to Carter's) refused to leave me there alone. I'm a young female, and my boss (a man) knew I did not need to be in this location without somebody watching out for me. Deceitful and crooked as a question mark. It's in your best interest to stay away from Carter Towing. read more

I just called carter towing its 213 in the morning the guy said he hadn't towed my car got real smart with me then hung up on me i won't call them ever and i suggest noone else use them either read more

My car was towed by Carter's and they didn't follow any state or municipal laws. The law is that they have to report to the police within an hour of unauthorized towing and they didn't so I filed a police complaint and was told that I should report it to the records division. When I showed up to Carter's to get my property the guy who was working told me that the only way to get my car out was to pay the fine and that I could talk to whoever I want but it wouldn't do anything. I told him I know they didn't call the police and he interrupted me to yell for me to get my stuff and get off the property. This is a horribly run business and I would never deal with them outside of getting my car back. Rude staff with no understanding of legal processes. read more

My car recently broke down around 2am last night. Carter came out and towed my car home at a great price. Appreciate Carter

Stay away from this dump at all costs! One star is too much. This is the worst tow company I have ever dealt with. After my stolen Jaguar was recovered and towed to their establishment, they gave me an address for where they were storing my car and told me it would be $185 including the storage fees if I picked it up on Monday, which is today. When I got there at 9:30 a.m., no one was there, doors locked (they are supposed to open at 8 a.m.). A guy drove up after I had been waiting there for 15 min, saying my car wasn't there and I would have to call the main number. Once I finally found out where they actually had my car, the amount went up to $185 PLUS storage fees. When I asked for him to honor the amount they had told me on the phone, he got rude and said I could leave if I didn't like it. I asked to speak to a manager and he said he was the manager. He was wagging his finger in my face and was very threatening. He also called me a b@#&h and threw my change at me and told me to get the f*@& out. His large dog also kept licking my feet the whole time and the manager would do nothing about him even when I was clearly trying to get him to stop. Absolutely insane. Not to mention the place is the biggest dump I have ever seen. I will be advising the Chattanooga police department of the incident and that they should change towing companies. Never use these guys. Never. Especially as a woman. Literally thought the guy might hit me. read more

Our towing service was lined up by AT&T Roadside Assistance, and our call to them was placed a little after 5 pm. They stated they had faxed the information and our location to Carters and their estimated arrival time would be 7:07 pm, almost two hours later. This did not make sense because their office was less than five miles from our location. At 7.30 pm, they still had not shown up, and when we called back to check, it was reported that they never got the job, and would be there within the hour. Another hour rolled by and still no towing service. We called again and they said they couldn't find the location which is ridiculous since it was at our city's university, one of the most known spots in Chattanooga! We gave them very specific directions and even stood on the street corner to wave them down. They finally showed up close to 10:00 pm, five hours later from our first call. I then followed them to the repair drop off to make sure they took it to the right place, and it was a good thing because he drove right by it. I am giving this company a one-star rating only because the guy who showed up was very polite and courteous which certainly helped after such an ordeal! I do not recommend using this company at all especially if you are in a dire situation! read more
