I have donated with this center for years and have stayed at this OP Plano center for well over a year and have without feeling a need to rotate out to any other center or company. So, Five Stars for them. OctaPharma corporate and information services (push info on the app, customer service phone center, is ABSOLUTE:LY HORRIBLE. "Lies, damned lies, and OctaPharma Customer Service information" - Benjamin Disraeli Yesterday morning, due to the fact that people in my part of the South (USA) get scared to death when a snowflake falls, I called in to see if my center was open. Remember, with OctaPharma, the ONLY way we have to know such information is to call in to the Customer "Service" Center (CSC). They think that all kinds of info pushes out on the OctaApp that doesn't. So, one has to call. Of course, I called at 7:15 because forgot that despite the donation centers being open 7am-7pm, the bottleneck/CSC is only open during "normal business hours" 9am-5pm. So, I waited. My app was telling me I was able to donate but I suspect that is only "me" info, not taking into account anything about the donation center, and I didn't want to make the drive if they weren't open. Thus, just before 10am, I called back and got a rep on the phone: "Your center is open today from 7am-7pm." "You are sure that this info is good for the Plano TX center?" "Yes, that center is open from 7am-7pm." "And that is info for today, correct?" "Correct." So, I had a few errands to do and wanted to let meals kick in, so I went to the center at 5pm. Sign on the door said (not exact wording): "Reduced hours today. Our center will be open from 10am until 4pm." Arrrgh. I called the CSC and asked what hours the center would be open. "That center will be open from 10am until 4pm." Hmmm. "Are you able to tell what time you received that notification?" "Yes, sir, we received it at 10:03 am." So, either the center did not inform the CSC of their decision about operating hours until at least 3 hours after the center's decision was made (to not open at 7am) or the CSC had the info available but did not push it out officially to the reps for up to 3 hours after receiving it. I seriously doubt that the donation center left the phone center uninformed. I checked with the donation center and learned that they had made the modified-hours decision DAYS prior to the ice storm. I cannot believe for a moment they kept this decision secret for several days. And, of course, none of this updated-hours info was on the OctaApp beyond a message that some centers might be closed and donors should check first before going. Forcing us through this info bottleneck of uninformed script-readers and then ALSO giving out completely false information makes OctaPharma the worst of the worst in my opinion when it comes to helping donors with information. The drive in to the center wasn't hazardous, but it was very slow. They wasted my time yet again by not having the right info available in the right place at the right time, and essentially lying to donors. Everything else about OctaPharma is really great, as far as I'm concerned. But their corporate setup for info sharing is ATROCIOUS .

I had my blood drawn within an hour of each test at Octapharma, Plano, TX and another plasma center and I easily passed the other plasma center where I was paid double Octapharma. I'm done. What a waste of time. NO MORE. Whoever is responsible for the quarterly protein tests is NOT doing their job accurately and I have proof this time. Bye bye

This was a one-minute phone call, and it was enough to turn me off. I explained that we had already done a consultation with another oral surgeon in Saginaw and were shocked by their request for $2,000 upfront, which is why I was calling around for options. Before I could even explain further, the woman immediately cut in with, "Wisdom teeth removal is $4,000-$6,000," which felt dismissive and rushed. When I asked how that could apply to an insured patient--since in-network providers are limited to insurance-allowed amounts--she clarified that was the cash price, not the insured price. I explained that we have insurance and even dual dental coverage. She then told me they only bill the primary insurance, expect patients to pay the balance up front, and require the patient to file the secondary insurance themselves. While this may be common with some private dental offices in DFW, that doesn't make it reasonable. National dental groups understand how to bill properly by submitting both insurance plans and only collecting what they reasonably expect the final patient balance to be. In our case, that meant going from being asked to pay $2,000 upfront elsewhere to paying $300 upfront, with the expectation that the full amount would likely be refunded once secondary insurance processed. When I declined to continue the conversation, her response was a cold, uninterested "Have a good day." No explanation, no attempt to discuss options, and no effort to retain a potential patient. I never even got to this office's actual pricing because I was being rushed off the phone. For comparison, I contacted Monarch Dental, and the experience was night and day. They reviewed both insurance plans over the phone, gave a clear explanation, and booked my son's surgery in under 48 hours. The surgeon's reviews were excellent, and the process was seamless. We're now booked and moving forward--but this office lost a potential customer due to poor communication and lack of patient care. Final recommendation: if you have secondary insurance or want clear billing and options, proceed with caution here. National dental groups offer a far smoother, more patient-centered experience.

I recently relocated to the area and this was my very first time visiting this blood donation center. I have religiously donated to the American Red Cross for decades now and wanted to continue that consistency. In all honesty, I was really anxious about donating here after reading a majority of the reviews. I have a ton going on right now, navigating a relocation, new job, new home, my weekly running mileage, new climate etc. and I knew I was in no condition to endure any mishaps that would potentially cause me to not feel well or put me off on the commitment to my ARC blood donations. My sons gf is a nurse and if you know me, you know I love the F word, but there's one in particular that I can't handle when it comes to veins, needles, and blood donations and that's "fishing". I did not want it to come down to missing a vein, "fishing" around for one or any issue that would cause me pain/discomfort or a bad first experience here at this center. I'm so glad I overcame my apprehension about coming to my appointment, because every single interaction from my 1230p check in, screening and blood draw was 5 STAR! The staff on duty during my visit were incredible and I pray I get them every time. I've always been a strong advocate of donating blood. It's something I'm wildly passionate about. What stood out to me most was the fact that the all female team there just made you feel like you were so seen, every step of the way. After my mom had suffered a minor stroke and a fall resulting in a head injury, the Dallas hospital…read morehad recommended that she be admitted into a rehabilitation facility. I wanted a place that was close to my home, and we chose Carrara Skilled Nursing Facility in Plano, TX. This was a huge mistake .. on so many levels. First .. there were some positives .. a few of the nursing staff - Rebecca & Angela were wonderful, caring, and helpful. Their therapy staff was wonderful as well .. striving to improve functionality, and were tremendously positive. Also, the exec director John was great - engaged, apologetic about the staff's numerous failings, and ready to jump-in when needed ... even at late hours and on holidays. Thank you John! Then .. there the nursing staff. The worst. Nasty. Lazy. Disengaged. Possibly even .. evil at times. Most clearly hate their jobs, and it shows. Some have really bad attitude problems. They are so incredibly lazy. The call buzzer will ring for 1-hour +, with no response. My mother was there for 5 weeks .. I visited almost every day and saw call lights on, but nursing staff were scrolling on their cellphones in the nursing station while the buzzers were ringing with room call-lights lit-up. They chose to not respond. This is a clear case of negligence. Two days ago, I witnessed 5 call lights on in multiple halls .. no help. Nursing staff were at the nurses station chatting and staring at their phones. I found (4-nights in a row) my mom's call buzzer laying on the floor under the bed (I have photos), with zero accessibility to my mom. They would leave the buzzer there, turn off the lights, and close the door. My mom was screaming for help .. but there was no help to be found. Until I'd get a desperate call from her cellphone to drive over there and help. This happened many times. Nursing staff doesn't care. I would complain to John .. he was super apologetic and would get people moving to remedy this .. but why should I have to bother him for this stuff every time? Nursing manager is named Ta'Wanda. I had a conference call with her. She made clear that "the real problem was that my expectations were too high. My mom had been transferred from a hospital with a much higher staff-to-patient ratio, and she said that I needed to adjust my expectations". I called her out on that claim .. she didn't like it. That was the last time we spoke, and the executive director requested that I no longer speak with Ta'Wanda. I will spare the reader of this review the graphic details of all of my mom's experiences, but the unpleasantries of neglect for many hours on end were pretty bad. I witnessed my mom become angrier and angrier by the day. I repeatedly requested only female nursing staff to help my mom to the restroom, but again and again, that was not the case .. with a large man from another country watching her pee. The laundry staff lost my mom's nightgowns - I asked them to track-down her clothes, but apparently (according to their staff) it was my fault for not having properly nametag-labeled her clothing in advance. Those articles of clothing are gone. The food was inedible .. absolutely disgusting. The first night .. dinner looked like vomit atop a pile of rice. And the dessert looked even worse. My whole family took it upon ourselves to supplement my mom's food in order to keep her alive amid a veritable barrage of inedible piles of slop on a tray presented to my mother. I entered that building almost every day for 5 weeks .. and amazingly, I never had to sign-in or out even once .. gee .. nice security. I was even advised by one staff member (& thank you to that wonderful staff member) that it would be a good idea to remove my mom's purse from her room, in order to keep her personal belongings safe from the other staff members. The kitchen staff was quite memorable. There was an instance when I brought my mom a delicious slice of chocolate cake (she loves chocolate) .. and then I went to the kitchen to request a plate. I said, 'May I please have a plate?" .. The kitchen staff member said .. "You wanna plate"?, then handed me a styrofoam box. So I said, "No, please .. may I please have a plate for some cake for my mom" .. She then handed me a bowl. At this point, I had graduated to the mocking phase .. picked-up a plate right in front of her .. held it in front of her face and said .. "Plate"! It appeared as though the IQ level of some staff members might not even register - - As a kitchen staff member.. the first thing to understand is ... "What is a Plate?" This is a facility that I would never recommend for anyone to use. At first, it appears to be a nice rehab place with some decent aesthetics shown on their website .. but once you understand their nursing culture .. Do yourself a huge favor and run for the hills. FYI - there were multiple incidents which were reported to their management to be a problem, that were never properly remedied .... STAY AWAY!

He is skilled, calm, and professional -- but also funny, informative, and great at keeping things light even in the delivery room, which helped make a normally stressful situation feel much more relaxed. We are very grateful for the level of care he provides. The nursing staff was attentive, kind, and helpful throughout labor, delivery, and recovery, and we appreciated their support and communication during our stay. Let me note 90% of what i am about to say was attitude or comments or actions by the techs not the nursing staff. I had a tech with me one night - one of my first nights off of the ventilator who decided to blare music all night. And then I caught them drinking thinking I didn't notice. I reported them and the nurse laughed me off. The next morning for shift change they found liquor bottles in the back where they were.. not so funny now HUH? To my knowledge the hospital took appropriate measures once the alcohol was found. Obviously being in a hospital and not being able to get up and walk and use a restroom is mortifying enough on its own, to hear staff complaining and saying "i don't wana do it" as they call someone else in... 1000x more embarrassing. If you're not comfortable with your job you shouldn't be in this line of work. While also having another one who was cleaning me up saying outloud "be professional.. be professional... be professional... to themselves while I'm exposed, extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. I had nursing staff and techs in my room treating me like absolute trash because i couldn't sleep. They literally threatened to put me back on a ventilator the next day if i didn't "shut up and go to sleep" the tech was sitting behind me on the phone with the nurse talking crap right in front of me Then they got so annoyed with me not sleeping, the nurse came in and administered what I believe was called propofol. Apperantly there was an order for it left on my chart from when i was on a ventilator. When my dad showed up the next morning i couldn't speak. All day i was completely out of it unable to put sentences together. I feel like it would take me 5 or more minutes to get out one single word He found out what they gave me and was LIVID. And that's the day they decide to move me out of icu into the main hospital!? I was on a ventilator for i think somewhere around 9 days and in icu for 12. I only had respiratory therapy one time, ONE TIME during my whole recovery stay did they come in with a breathing machine and a tube to practice getting strength back in my lungs. (Please note i had severe pneumonia that completely took over one lung and spread to the other) They moved me to the main floor, promised my dad i would be there at least 5-7 days before being released and he had time to run home (5 hours away) to get clothes and come back. What do you know... they release me after 2 days. I had seen PT twice. Once they came in after the propofol and I was unable to function or do anything the next day they strapped me on to a walker and i could barely get to the bathroom alone. Then they freaking discharged me. No notice to get my dad back in town No continued PT to get me used to being on my feet again before going home. No continued respiratory therapy. Nothing. They did not even send me home with any referrals to set up my own follow ups for respiratory therapy and pt my dad had to call and chase those down. I had to learn to walk, eat, drink, talk, breathe, everything all over again all on my own and should have had way more support in that process. I did have a few techs that were great I wish I remembered some of their names to shout them out. Again, the ICU doctors and medical team who cared for me in my time on the ventilator were incredible and absolutely saved my life (and they are the only reason this is not a one star review) but the rest of the staff and my experience after that.. a literal nightmare. I would absolutely never come back here for hospital care after the way i was treated by staff. And the things I mentioned above isn't even all of what happened. My dad had his own set of complaints of things he dealt with while i was ventilated and shortly after waking up. We were told the director at the hospital would call him to go over complaints shortly after i was released.. but did they? Nope. Did ANYONE call to try and address the things that happened? Nope! DO BETTER YALL! You have some life saving doctors in ICU. Give their patients proper care and respect after their part is done!!
